Chapter 515 Revisiting

Kyle left the Twilight Duchy to wait for the next day.

ʼWell, got an entire day to kill. No idea what to do.ʼ

After aimlessly flying around for some minutes, Kyle decided to revisit a couple of places.

Some time later, he arrived in front of a small stony hill in the middle of a forest.

ʼThatʼs where Magic Lady dumped me,ʼ he thought as he looked at it. ʼI think I unearthed the drill and the skeleton right there.ʼ

Kyle looked to the south. His Ether Sense picked up a fortified hole.

ʼThatʼs where I killed Old Betty. I guess that was my first True Battle. Thatʼs also where I made my first mine under Theodorʼs guidance.ʼ

Then, Kyle looked at Theodorʼs Rest.

The town had become a bit bigger. Many of the old buildings were gone, replaced by newer ones.

Samsonʼs Hunting Hall was also no longer there.

Kyle remembered when Samson had accepted him into his service and essentially saved him from an eternity in jail.

As his Ether Sense scanned the city, he realized that there were no familiar people.

ʼRight, itʼs been like 50 years. Normal people donʼt live that long.ʼ

Kyle sighed. ʼGuess Samson, Nervon, and so on are dead. Oh well, they lived their lives how they wanted. Whatcha gonna do? Time passes.ʼ

ʼThinking back, yeah, Iʼm not really cut out to be a hunter. Way too much red tape.ʼ

Kyle also noticed that the big snake, which used to rule the wilderness, was gone.

Then, Kyle looked in the direction of Theodorʼs Inheritance Crypt.

A bunch of people were mining ore there, and he decided against barging in.

A moment later, Kyle left Forest Haven Cradle and went to a mountain southeast of it.

At least, there used to be a mountain.

Now, there was just a bunch of rubble.

ʼThatʼs where I met my Ore Fiend friend. Ore Friend!ʼ Kyle thought. ʼYeah, well, that oneʼs gone as well.ʼ

After that, Kyle flew more towards the south, following the path he had taken back then.

ʼThatʼs where the Hillstalker Ant nest used to be,ʼ he thought. ʼThat was my first genocide. Fun times.ʼ

When he reached the Fire Coast Cradle, he remembered the time he had met Selene and helped her capture a baby Colossus.

ʼWell, sheʼs still around, but sheʼs with the Chief now.ʼ

ʼSpeaking of,ʼ Kyle thought as he moved to the south.

After some time, he reached Starkhold.

Except, it was renamed to Mountain Burg.

ʼI mean, the war ended. The Winterfire Kingdom won and collapsed a bit later. Even the statue of the Chief is gone. ʼ

Kyle remembered how he had been part of the newbies and how he had made a name for himself via networking.

ʼTeam Sandstorm, huh? We used to be quite powerful, but to be honest, we were also cheating a bit. We were a Fighter Guild team, but we only had a single Fighter, Falk.ʼ

Kyle sighed. ʼFalk, Michael, and Lily are probably all dead. I donʼt think the Winterfire Kingdom would leave such powerful people alive.ʼ

Kyle remembered the time Team Sandstorm had split up.

The split had been rather ugly.

ʼStill no idea what his problem was. Everyone says I acted correctly. I assured our survival. I also constantly risked my life for them. I mean, hell, I even risked unveiling my Aristocratʼs Body to save Lily, and as a thank you, she fucking insulted me.ʼ

ʼSure, Lily has always been a bitch, but why did Falk also have to be an arse?ʼ

Kyle decided against going to the World Peak to revisit memories since that was now Silvesterʼs territory.

ʼA bit later, I became the representative and helped the Chief. Man, that time was stressful.ʼ

Kyle also remembered the tournament to become a Four-Weapons Guild.

ʼAnd after that, I never saw the Stark Brotherhood again, and Iʼm honestly not sure if anyone is even still around. After all, they joined the military. Wyveria, Bonk, Martin, Noah… all dead, most likely.ʼ

As Kyle thought back to the other representatives of the other Guilds, he had to snort.

ʼThe Crown Prince got the Shonen protagonist treatment. Right, he died, I think? I mean, even if he didnʼt, I donʼt think the Winterfire Kingdom would keep him around.ʼ

ʼThat was also the only time I met King Skysand. Not much to remember. Thought my meeting with him would be a much bigger deal, considering that I was supposed to kill him and his lineage.ʼ

ʼYeah, well, the Winterfire Kingdom took care of that. Donʼt have to feel guilty for not fulfilling my promise. I mean, what do you want me to do, resurrect them and kill them again?ʼ

ʼBy the way, I wonder how things would have progressed if Theodor hadnʼt tried to stop me from advancing in my way. Would he have detonated after the Skysand Kingdom lost? Or would he have just vanished? Would he still be in my head?ʼ

ʼThat would be horrible! I donʼt want some crazy voice in my head!ʼ

Then, Kyle remembered his years of isolation near Theodorʼs Inheritance Crypt.

ʼWonder what happened to the two birds. They might actually still be alive.ʼ

The next moment, Kyle remembered meeting Sebastian and their fight against the Second Advisor of Winterfire.

ʼAt least, Sebastian is still around… for now,ʼ Kyle thought before sighing.

ʼAs soon as Iʼm the Overseer, he will ascend, and I will remain here. I donʼt know for how long I will remain an Overseer, but it will probably be a long time.ʼ

ʼNo idea if I will ever meet Sebastian again. That kinda sucks.ʼ

Then, Kyle remembered meeting the Duchess of Twilight.

ʼSheʼs actually not that scary. In fact, sheʼs kinda nice. But, oh well, sheʼs also gonna leave. Whatcha gonna do?ʼ

ʼAnd thatʼs basically it,ʼ he thought with a shrug. ʼEverything after that is basically just me looking at stuff and punching beasts.ʼ

ʼAnyway, that barely took a couple of minutes. Still gotta kill some time.ʼ

For the next day, Kyle just randomly flew around the world until he got too bored and went back to the Duchess of Twilight.

”Hey, can we start early?” Kyle asked after opening the door.

The Duchess of Twilight closed her eyes for some seconds before opening them again.

”Yes,” she said, turning to Kyle.

”Cool.”
