Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 342: 342 Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm

”Sir, may I have the honor of knowing your esteemed name?”

Even though Xuan Haoran was utterly unconvinced the fellow before him had any real skills, at this juncture, he was unwilling to let go of the last straw of hope. What if it were true?

”Your Majesty, you are a wise monarch; do not be deceived by the bewitching words of this charlatan!”

Seeing that Xuan Haoran seemed persuaded by Yun Xiao’s words, Sect Master Yan couldn’t help but become extremely anxious. Among the people present, aside from him, who was already known to Xuan Haoran as a Sect Master, none of the others had been asked for their names by Xuan Haoran.

”Xuan Tong, please have Sect Master Yan wait outside!”

Hardly had Sect Master Yan’s words fallen when Xuan Haoran’s sharp gaze turned towards him, and the words that followed instantly turned Yan’s face deathly pale, silencing any further objections.

Although Sect Master Yan held the title of Sect Master, he was nothing compared to the King of Xuanyue Country before him. The thought of the consequences of angering His Majesty sent shivers down his spine.

”Sect Master Yan, you may leave!”

Xuan Tong read the room and knew all too well why Sect Master Yan had been repeatedly overstepping his bounds, to the displeasure of His Majesty. Remaining could lead to dire consequences, so he promptly commanded in a cold tone.

Sect Master Yan felt extreme frustration as he turned to leave, giving the short figure a fierce glare before hearing the latter casually say: ”Your Majesty, my name is Bo... Ku, just a nobody!”

”Bo Ku? Bo Ku!”

Having had the name repeated behind him, Sect Master Yan mentally went over it twice more, his teeth gritted with certainty. As he claimed, the name was indeed unheard of. Having crossed Sect Master Yan, this person would certainly not have an easy time in the Xuanyue Empire.

Xuan Haoran naturally wouldn’t care too much about piquing Sect Master Yan’s interests, but upon hearing the unfamiliar name, his expression revealed his cluelessness; despite racking his brain, he could not recall any renowned Meridian Refining Master in the Xuanyue Empire with such a name.

Compared to the bewildered crowd, Liu Hanyi of Luoyi Sect, who knew the inside story, could barely suppress her laughter, thinking to herself how mischievous Yun Xiao was being.

”Bo Ku, isn’t that ’Don’t Cry’? Isn’t this telling everyone that he is Yun Xiao?”

Liu Hanyi found it amusing internally, but the trick with the name was worthless if exposed; yet, as long as people did not think in that direction, no one would likely connect ’Bo Ku,’ the master before them, with the Great Thief who stole the Supreme Treasure of the Royal Family.

”Mr. Bo Ku, are you confident you can cure my child’s illness?”

After all, it was just a name; not remembering it was no big deal to Xuan Haoran. At the moment, all his thoughts and focus were on his son. If this person could indeed heal Xuan Jing, he was confident that the name ”Bo Ku” would become renowned throughout the Xuanyue Empire overnight.

”I cannot claim absolute certainty, but let us give it a try!”

Yun Xiao always spoke with restraint, never fully committing. Indeed, due to his level of Meridian Refining, he was not completely sure, and could only make an effort.

This uncertainty would likely have been ridiculed by Sect Master Yan had he heard it, but with the lesson from what had just happened with Yan, the remaining people kept silent.

Compared to the earlier situation where no one had spotted any clues, Yun Xiao had already offered much better prospects. Everything would be evaluated based on the results after his attempt at healing.

After speaking, Yun Xiao made no effort to exclude the onlookers. Turning around once more, this time his right middle finger did not touch Xuan Jing’s wrist but his chest through the clothing.

After his previous examination, Yun Xiao had indeed discerned certain things and confirmed his earlier suspicions. Roughly halfway through burning an incense stick, a sparkle lit in the depths of his eyes, followed by a surge of Meridian Qi directly penetrating Xuan Jing’s chest, reaching a specific spot.

”Found it!”

As this invisible stream of Meridian Qi invaded Xuan Jing’s chest, a faint, barely perceptible shadow emerged within the most important organ of the human body—the heart—hidden from the sight of others.

This shadow seemed transparent and, upon closer inspection, appeared to be a tiny worm no longer than a little finger. At the moment, this worm was attached inside Xuan Jing’s heart, seemingly devouring some kind of energy.

”Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm, I never expected to encounter you here in the Hidden Dragon Continent!”

A shadow passed over Yun Xiao’s eyes; murmuring to himself, he suddenly shifted his gaze to a particular direction where, strangely, no one was present.

Whether it was the Seven Evil Poisonous Flame that afflicted Li Shan or the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm now inside Xuan Jing, Yun Xiao clearly knew that neither originated from the Hidden Dragon Continent. Such potent poisons and poisonous creatures could not be naturally birthed in this lower Plane.

The reason Yun Xiao looked in that direction was because he knew that this so-called Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm, being lifeless on its own and akin to a Meridian Spirit, required someone’s control to achieve its purpose.

In the place where Yun Xiao’s gaze focused, there seemed to be an invisible thread of Yin Light subtly connecting the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm to a certain location. It was at that very location, perhaps, where the key to Xuan Jing’s coma lay.

...

Xuanyue Palace.

Inside an extremely splendid hall, a figure cloaked in black shuddered abruptly, and then its entire body started moving like mist, eventually transforming into the figure of an old man.

”Master Xing, what’s wrong?”

Simultaneously, another figure clad in luxurious robes opened his eyes abruptly not far away and asked with a trace of confusion. If Yun Xiao had been there, he would have recognized this young man as the Crown Prince of the Xuanyue Empire: Xuan Jiuding!

”The Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm has revealed itself!”

The old man in the black robe seemed to sense something once more, and immediately a deep voice followed, causing even the facial expression of Xuan Jiuding to slight change, appearing somewhat incredulous.

”Master Xing, didn’t you say that the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm is not native to the Hidden Dragon Continent and to neutralize it, one must at least be an Earth-rank Meridian Refining Master?”

This was the source of Xuan Jiuding’s incomprehension. He held immense respect for this man in the black robe, sometimes even more so than for his own father, the King, because he had seen many miraculous things performed by this elder.

”Hehe, this Hidden Dragon Continent is becoming more and more interesting!”

The person known as Master Xing did not answer Xuan Jiuding’s question, but instead let out a light chuckle, seemingly reminiscing about the recent incident where the Seven Evil Poisonous Flame had been neutralized, which sparked some inexplicable interest in him.

”Master Xing, accompany me on a journey. This time, the plan must not fail!”

Xuan Jiuding was not in the mood to ponder Master Xing’s emotions. He knew that if Xuan Jing were to be saved by someone, it would pose a serious threat to his position as the Crown Prince. He could not allow this threat to gain any ground.

”That’s fine. I too wish to see which person on this tiny Hidden Dragon Continent has managed to detect my Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm.”

Master Xing did not refuse. To tell the truth, although the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm had been detected, he had never truly considered that anyone on the Hidden Dragon Continent could neutralize it.

After the two figures disappeared from inside the hall, a faint trace of breath drifted out, as if following a certain direction and vanishing into the air.

...

Inside Xuan Jing’s sleeping chamber.

”Look, what is that?”

When Yun Xiao located the transparent little worm inside Xuan Jing’s heart, the body of the Second Prince appeared to become transparent at that moment, as if even the robes and covers were nonexistent.

How could a faintly visible transparent worm escape the keen eyes of Xuan Haoran, who spotted the transparent creature almost instantly?

Especially the Empress, who upon shock, grasped Xuan Haoran’s arm tightly. This time, the couple seemed to understand that the reason Xuan Jing had turned into this state was likely due to the meddling of the transparent worm.

Given Xuan Haoran’s temperament, he would have drawn his long sword and killed the transparent worm if it were possible. However, at this moment, the worm was clearly inside Xuan Jing’s heart. One false move and Xuan Jing’s life would be at immediate risk, so rash action was out of the question.

If Xuan Haoran and others had previously lacked any confidence in Yun Xiao, their confidence undoubtedly soared at this moment. At least, this person claiming to be Bo Ku had identified the cause of Xuan Jing’s deep unconsciousness, and perhaps there truly was a way to cure him.

”Once the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm enters a body, it will reside within a person’s heart, devouring all the blood energy and Meridian Qi before leaving. It is indeed extraordinarily toxic and dangerous!”

At this moment, Yun Xiao silently recalled some characteristics of the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm but there was one thing he could not understand. The control of a Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm required at least an Earth-rank Meridian Refining Master, so could it be that within the Xuanyue Imperial Family, there was such a master?

But if there were an Earth-rank Meridian Refining Master, why couldn’t Xuan Jing’s illness be cured? There must be some unknown trickery at play. And from Xuan Haoran’s reaction, he seemed unaware of the existence of such a Meridian Master.

With these thoughts, Yun Xiao’s determination only grew stronger. Whether it was out of friendship with Xuan Jing or contempt for Xuan Jiuding’s despicable behavior, he could not stand idly by.

Now that the cause of Xuan Jing’s illness had been found, Yun Xiao also breathed a sigh of relief. All he needed to do was extract the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm from Xuan Jing’s heart.

Previously, Yun Xiao had no absolute certainty. He was worried that Xuan Jing’s poisoning or illness could only be treated by a technique at the Spiritual Rank, leaving him at a loss and likely needing to seek the help of others.

However, now that he knew it was just the Yin Light Devouring Energy Worm, Yun Xiao felt relieved. What seemed to be a desperate situation to others might prove to be much simpler for him.
