Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Every important meeting of the Jade Pot Sect would almost certainly see disputes arise between the Medical Pulse and Poison Vein factions, and this time was no exception, especially when it involved the appointment and removal of an elder with real power.

Fu Du saw the appearance of a Strange Spirit in the Jade Pot Cave as an opportunity to greatly weaken the influence of the Medical Pulse lineage, facilitating his and the Royal Family’s conspiratorial plans.

But the words of the Great Elder did hold some persuasive power. Indeed, a Strange Spirit had appeared in the Jade Pot Cave this time, but it was merely a Fourth Rank Intermediate Strange Spirit, which for the Jade Pot Sect was hardly a significant threat.

The Jade Pot Cave was one of the most critical locations for the Jade Pot Sect, related to the survival of the sect. Should its guardian be replaced, the new individual might even be worse than Fourth Elder Li Shan.

”Hehe, Great Elder, those who make mistakes must be punished. This is the foundation of our Jade Pot Sect. Have you forgotten?”

As the Third Elder also belonged to the Poison Vein lineage, he naturally spoke up in support and immediately threw a heavy accusation, which left Lu Zhan’s face red with anger.

The rules of the sect, when spoken of strictly, certainly did not tolerate violations, but when it concerned these elders with real power present, more often than not, people would turn a blind eye, and few would really take it seriously.

However, this time, Fu Du was adamant about pulling Li Shan down from his horse, and at the very least have his duty as the guardian of the Jade Pot Cave revoked. How could the elders of the Poison Vein lineage not support such a favorable development?

”Alright, everyone, you don’t need to argue over my affair any longer. I... am willing to give up the position of guarding the Jade Pot Cave!”

Just as the two factions were in a heated argument, a somewhat despondent voice suddenly emerged from the side. When everyone turned their heads to look, they saw that the speaker was Li Shan, who had not said anything up until then.

Honestly speaking, Li Shan did neglect his duties this time, and since he was by nature an upright person, he also felt very guilty about the deaths of several young talents from the Inner Sect, feeling that it was a great disservice to them.

Seeing several Great Elders fighting over him until their faces turned red, Li Shan felt it was not right to just sit back and watch, so he had to speak up.

Moreover, after Li Shan opened his mouth, he showed his attitude. After such a significant incident, he felt he could no longer maintain his position guarding the Jade Pot Cave, so he might as well be straightforward and resign.

”Fourth Elder, you...”

Upon hearing this, the Great Elder Lu Zhan felt a mix of frustration and disappointment. He had been arguing persistently to protect Li Shan’s position, but had not expected the man to succumb to pressure first.

However, as Lu Zhan thought about Li Shan’s nature, he suddenly understood. For those of the Poison Vein lineage, it would probably take death before they would back down, but Li Shan was different; he had a conscience.

Since Li Shan had already said so, Lu Zhan and Su He chose to remain silent. Seeing this, Sect Leader Yu Shu finally said, ”Since that’s the case, let us temporarily relieve Elder Li Shan of his duty to guard the Jade Pot Cave. As for the new guardian of the cave...”

”Sect Leader, I am willing to temporarily take over the guardianship of the Jade Pot Cave, and I assure you that no Strange Spirit will appear again!”

Yu Shu had not finished speaking when Fu Du, seemingly prepared, immediately interjected. He gave a meaningful glance at Li Shan, who still wore a look of guilt.

”Oh? Second Elder, you’re willing to take on the role of the guardian of the Jade Pot Cave?”

Upon hearing this, not only did the other Great Elders express surprise, but even Sect Leader Yu Shu felt the need to confirm, knowing the Second Elder well and having never seen him volunteer so eagerly before.

Second Elder Fu Du was the leader of the Medical Pulse faction and rarely took on specific roles, commanding the main affairs of his lineage like the Great Elder.

Previously, Fu Du had shown no interest in such matters, focusing solely on cultivating the Poison Meridian Skill and trying to surpass the Great Elder. Had he now, having advanced to the Spiritual Rank Intermediate Meridian Refining Master, undergone a complete change of heart?

Sect Leader Yu Shu had originally intended for the Sixth Elder Su He, who managed the Outer Sect, to succeed Li Shan, but Fu Du took the initiative to step forward, and Yu Shu could not say much in response.

Regardless of whether it was Meridian Qi Cultivation, the Meridian Refining Technique, or even their status and position, Fu Du was far superior to Su He. His personal guardianship of the Jade Pot Cave could indeed guarantee its safety more thoroughly.

Yu Shu had no idea that Fu Du had reached some sort of agreement with the Royal Family. Taking control of the Jade Pot Cave was his first step in a larger plan, and Li Shan’s dereliction provided a perfect opportunity that Fu Du certainly would not miss.

”Since the Second Elder is willing to spare no effort, then you shall temporarily take over guarding the Jade Pot Cave. When we have found a suitable candidate, we will make another appointment!”

Yu Shu did not elaborate further, and even the Great Elder next to him remained silent. He was happy to go with the flow, considering the tedious nature of guarding the Jade Pot Cave was not a task just anyone would accept, let alone these esteemed elders.

This was also why the Great Elder Lu Zhan did not oppose. Thus, Fu Du becoming the new guardian of the Jade Pot Cave was a foregone conclusion, and the matter was settled.

However, after Yu Shu finished speaking, he turned to Li Shan, who looked somewhat melancholy, and said solemnly, ”Fourth Elder, to make amends for your lapse this time, I command you to take on the role of guardian of the ninth layer of the Jade Pot Cave. Do you have any objections?”

”Huh?”

As soon as Yu Shu spoke, not only was Li Shan startled, but even the newly appointed guardian of the Jade Pot Cave, Fu Du, was taken aback, his expression suddenly turning grim.

Because Elder Fu Du didn’t know whether Yu Shu’s action was genuinely punishing Li Shan or if it was due to mistrust in himself, after all, the item mentioned by Xuan Zhi was within the ninth layer of Jade Pot Cave.

If it was for the former reason, then Elder Fu Du wouldn’t mind too much, but if it was for the latter, things could be quite troublesome.

Elder Fu Du’s plan was flawless, intending to use this opportunity to kick the obstructive Li Shan out of Jade Pot Cave, and once Jade Pot Cave was under his control, the implementation of his plan would be foolproof.

However, Yu Shu mentioned that he was punishing Li Shan, so no matter how unwilling Elder Fu Du was, he didn’t know how to refute, and at this moment, he once again witnessed the Sect Leader’s manipulative prowess – a maneuver that leaves one speechless.

”I shall respectfully comply with the Sect Leader’s command!”

Li Shan, mired in self-reproach, naturally had no objections. Thus, his role as the guardian of the ninth layer of Jade Pot Cave was set, which brought relief to Great Elder Lu Zhan standing aside.

Indeed, Elder Fu Du’s behavior today was abnormal, leaving Lu Zhan somewhat puzzled and feeling that there was more to this matter. Having Li Shan guarding the entrance to the ninth layer added an extra layer of security.

The meeting convened due to the strange spirit appearance within Jade Pot Cave came to an end like this, and as people left Yulan Hall in twos and threes, the sky had turned completely dark, and everyone returned to their palaces.

...

Jade Pot Sect, Poison Vein lineage.

Within a certain grand hall, a young man clad in green robes, his face faintly exuding a greenish tint, sat cross-legged. His aura seemed disordered as if he was at a crucial moment.

Boom!

At a certain moment, a strong aura erupted from this person’s body, and the hall’s unique energies swarmed towards him, instantly elevating his Meridian Qi Cultivation by a significant margin.

It seemed that this person had just made a breakthrough, and as the breakthrough finished, he suddenly opened his eyes. His gaze pierced through the right wall of the grand hall as if he could see through the void to a certain figure in black.

”Heh heh, Mo Qing, this time, I will let you know who is the most dazzling talent in Jade Pot Cave!”

An icy voice laden with a special significance emanated from him, and then he stood up, disappearing from the grand hall, leaving only a lingering aura of breakthrough that endured for a long time.

...

Medical Pulse lineage.

Within the grand hall of Great Elder Lu Zhan, a graceful figure in black stood gracefully – the Medical Pulse lineage’s talented young girl, Mo Qing, her expression somewhat anxious.

Tap tap tap!

Suddenly, footsteps sounded from the outer room. When Mo Qing turned her head to look, her face lit up with joy, and she hurriedly stepped forward and respectfully exclaimed, ”Teacher, you’re finally back!”

”Qing’er? Are you waiting for me?”

Entering the hall was none other than Great Elder Lu Zhan. He had been summoned by the Sect Leader to Yulan Hall early in the day and only now returned. At first glance, he knew his precious disciple had been waiting for him for a long time.

”Yes, I have something to ask you!”

Mo Qing’s mind conjured the image of a shabbily dressed young man. Without beating around the bush, she continued, ”Teacher, have you heard of a Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures called ’Ice Whisker Grass’?”

”Ice Whisker Grass?”

Upon hearing this, Lu Zhan trembled slightly, took a step forward, and locked eyes with Mo Qing, asking, ”Where did you hear about this herb?”

”Teacher, what’s wrong? I... Yun Xiao told me about it. He said... he said that Ice Whisker Grass can suppress the violent energies in my Cultivation Technique!”

Seeing her teacher’s unusual reaction, Mo Qing paused but didn’t hide anything. From her teacher’s response, she knew that Lu Zhan must be familiar with Ice Whisker Grass.

”It’s Yun Xiao again!”

With that, Lu Zhan murmured to himself. He had an exceptionally deep impression of the guy who was recently taken in as a disciple by the Sect Leader. During the Outer Sect Competition, he had even acquired two Meridian Arrays from Yun Xiao.

Although Yun Xiao had done so under compelling circumstances at that time, those two Meridian Arrays were of significant importance for Lu Zhan’s study of the Medical Pulse Technique.

One was an enhanced version of the Little Universe Meridian Array for treating the dying, and the other was an Evil Exorcism Pulse Array capable of curing hundreds of poisons. After studying the two arrays for some time, Lu Zhan found them to have infinite ingenious uses. Hence, he held a constant sense of gratitude towards Yun Xiao.
