Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

”Why? Why exactly?”

Underneath the Arena Hall, Bi Luo, Xuan Zhi, Zhao Ningshu, Cao Luo, and others who bore a grudge against Yun Xiao all roared loudly in their hearts. The bitterness of envy spread wide; they even harbored some resentment toward the Sect Leader of Jade Pot Sect.

A mere boy, only three months into becoming an Outer Disciple, a boy from a small family that only held the peak of the Meridian Gathering Realm, and whose family had been annihilated more than a year ago. Why was he still so lucky?

These Inner and Outer Sect Disciples, naturally, couldn’t think of deeper reasons. All they knew was that not even prominent Inner Sect Disciples like Mo Qing and Bi Luo had been taken as disciples by the Sect Leader. What virtues and abilities did Yun Xiao possess?

However, regardless of the jealousy and dissatisfaction in their hearts, they didn’t dare utter a word at this time, for even the Elder Fu Du had been suppressed by Yu Shu, let alone them daring to interrupt the Sect Leader.

Yun Xiao, the party in question, was also somewhat stunned by the Sect Leader’s sudden remarks. Originally, his intention was to join the Medical Pulse faction, and the impression he had of the Great Elder, Lu Zhan, was quite favorable.

Previously, when Fu Du and Lu Zhan had argued to the point of almost breaking into a fight, Yun Xiao just wanted to see how far Lu Zhan would go for him.

However, his plans were shattered in an instant, and a conflict arose in Yun Xiao’s heart. This conflict wasn’t because he thought Yu Shu was less powerful than the Great Elder, Lu Zhan, but because he didn’t quite understand this Sect Leader of Jade Pot Sect.

Today was the first time Yun Xiao even saw this Sect Leader, and though his impression appeared gentle and refined, who knew if it was all just a façade?

If Yu Shu were a highly hypocritical person, concealing his ruthlessness and cruelty behind a facade, akin to Fu Du, would not agreeing to become his Direct Disciple be akin to a sheep entering a tiger’s den?

”Hehe, do you need so long to hesitate?”

Seeing Yun Xiao zoning out, Yu Shu couldn’t help but laugh at himself, turning his head and saying, ”Sigh, I didn’t expect that after being away for so long, it would be this difficult to accept a Direct Disciple.”

Yu Shu’s words were obviously said in jest. A joke -- if he announced that he was taking a Direct Disciple, probably all the talents of the Xuanyue Empire would break their heads trying to become his disciple.

In the Xuanyue Empire, the status of the Sect Leader of Jade Pot Sect was almost comparable to the head of the Royal Family, yet the Royal Family was not so easy to enter, which disciple joining the Jade Pot Sect wouldn’t want to become the most prestigious talent?

Thinking of this, many disciples who were on good terms with Yun Xiao, like Tan Yun and Ling Wan, couldn’t help but feel anxious, thinking how Yun Xiao, who usually seemed so shrewd, could be so confused at such a critical moment?

Such a great opportunity, what more is there to consider? Could the Sect Leader of Jade Pot Sect not be compared even to the two Great Elders?

In this Outer Sect competition of Jade Pot Sect, many young talents were eager to catch the eyes of the two Great Elders. And previously, everyone thought Yun Xiao would certainly choose one of these Elders as his teacher.

Now, there was a Sect Leader who was stronger and held a higher status than the two Great Elders, and yet Yun Xiao still appeared indecisive. Even those Outer Sect Disciples who were unrelated to him felt he was being a bit pretentious.

Looking at Xuan Zhi, Bi Luo, and others, their hearts filled with joy, secretly thinking that Yun Xiao always played unconventionally. If he chose this moment to literally inflame the Sect Leader by refusing, then there would be quite a spectacle to witness.

Even Yu Shu, the Sect Leader, had personally spoken. If Yun Xiao still declined, wouldn’t that be a slap in the face of the Sect Leader? Then directly offending the Sect Leader, this young man would probably have no place in the Jade Pot Sect.

”Teacher, hello!”

However, among all these diverse thoughts in the quiet hall of the Arena, a voice suddenly arose, changing the atmosphere of the hall instantly.

The voice was, of course, from Yun Xiao, and as people clearly understood the meaning of his words, various emotions surged again, excitement, enthusiasm, and jealousy adorned the faces of many Inner and Outer Sect Disciples, making it incredibly spectacular.

Having received the answer he wanted, the face of Yu Shu, the Sect Leader of Jade Pot Sect, also showed a hint of pleased smile; this young man did not let him down after all.

At this moment, Yun Xiao’s heart undoubtedly mulled over a lot, and his final agreement with Yu Shu was actually based on some ulterior motives, which were the tragic annihilation of the Shang Family over a year ago.

This was also Yun Xiao’s biggest reason for joining the Jade Pot Sect. Otherwise, with the malicious master-disciple pair of Fu Du and Yin Huan, and people like Xuan Zhi, the Third Prince of the Royal Family, why would he take such a risk?

The Jade Pot Sect is the largest sect in the Xuanyue Empire and also the most informed hub outside the Royal Family. The reason Yun Xiao wanted to join the Jade Pot Sect, and even risked his life to ascend to the Inner Sect, was to utilize the vast resources of this grand sect to uncover clues about the massacre of the Shang Family.

Of course, Yun Xiao did not intend to avenge the Shang Family; he had long lost any fondness for the family that treated his mother and himself like enemies. He might even have been pleased with their demise.

Yun Xiao indeed is a reincarnated soul, but in this life, he cannot sever the affection he holds for his mother and sister. From the moment he left the Shang Family Snake Nest, he was determined to seek revenge for his mother and sister.

The first step to taking revenge was to know who the enemy was. Thus, risking being caught again by Talisman Poison Masters and dragged back to the Poison Vein, Yun Xiao joined the Jade Pot Sect and even dominated the Outer Sect competition to become a genuine Inner Sect Disciple.

But the developments were somewhat beyond Yun Xiao’s expectations. Sect Leader Yu Shu suddenly appeared and wanted to take him as a disciple, which was exceedingly strange.

From the discussions of nearby people, Yun Xiao learned that this Sect Leader normally doesn’t take disciples. His sudden appearance to take Yun Xiao as a disciple certainly had some deeper motives.

Yun Xiao didn’t think that his modest Peak Meridian Gathering Realm cultivation could attract the favor of the Sect Leader. But why did he finally agree to become Yu Shu’s Direct Disciple?

Firstly, Yun Xiao had no better options. As previously thought by Xuan Zhi and Bi Luo, rejecting a Sect Leader was extremely dangerous.

He was already unable to deal with Second Elder Fu Du. If the Sect Leader of the Jade Pot Sect was to be added, even if Yun Xiao became a disciple of Great Elder Lu Zhan, he might still find it difficult to move a step within the Jade Pot Sect, let alone reach the core secrets.

The second reason was something Yun Xiao had planned. After all, the identity and status of a Sect Leader like Yu Shu were somewhat more prestigious than even the Great Elder Lu Zhan.

If he truly became Yu Shu’s disciple, in time, Yun Xiao believed that the intelligence network of the Jade Pot Sect would no longer guard against him, making it easier to learn the details of the Shang Family’s destruction.

Aside from these two overt reasons, Yun Xiao had another reason that even he was unsure about, which was the indescribable aura he sensed from the Sect Leader Yu Shu.

This aura had been present since Yu Shu entered the Arena Hall. The crescent-shaped mark in Yun Xiao’s hand, or rather the Blood Moon Jade that had transformed into a mark, seemed to have a subtle connection to the Sect Leader, tenuous and elusive.

The Blood Moon Jade was the only token left to him by Yun Xiao’s father, and this crimson crescent-shaped Jade had shown its miraculous properties more than once.

The Ancient Dragon Taming Technique, the ice and fire Ancestor Veins, all seemed to be brought by the Blood Moon Jade. Hence, Yun Xiao could not give up anything related to the Blood Moon Jade.

Even compared to the first two overt reasons, perhaps this elusive reason was the real motive that moved Yun Xiao to agree to become Yu Shu’s disciple, which even he could not clearly describe.

After speaking, Yun Xiao saw Yu Shu turn his head and immediately knelt down. This bow was, in front of many Inner and Outer Sect disciples, a proper acknowledgment of this Sect Leader of the Jade Pot Sect as his master.

Although the Dragon Cloud Battle God of the previous life soared across the Nine-layered Dragon Cloud with extreme pride, showing no regard for the low-level practitioners of the Hidden Dragon Continent, Yun Xiao’s current body was much too weak, and he had to find a support first.

Yun Xiao knew he had offended too many people. Perhaps in the future, he could take advantage of his status as the Sect Leader’s disciple to intimidate others. Geniuses of the Poison Vein like Bi Luo and Yin Huan might think twice before targeting him again.

Yu Shu rightfully accepted Yun Xiao’s bow. For some reason, he suddenly felt a strange sensation. He seemed to sense that this young man kneeling before him as his disciple did not do so wholeheartedly.

But without Yun Xiao saying anything, Yu Shu could never guess. In this delicate atmosphere, this master-disciple relationship officially began, and henceforth, the Sect Leader of the Jade Pot Sect finally had his first disciple.

If this news were to spread, it would shock not only the Jade Pot Sect but perhaps even stun the entire Xuanyue Empire. Yun Xiao’s name would likely spread throughout the Xuanyue Empire like the wind.

All cultivators of the Xuanyue Empire would certainly be curious about what kind of brilliant young talent could attract the attention of the Jade Pot Sect Leader, who hadn’t taken a disciple in hundreds of years.

Of course, that was to come later. Although Yu Shu felt a strange feeling, he was delighted that Yun Xiao agreed to be his disciple.

Moreover, Yu Shu also had a sense of breaking shackles, perhaps this step might change some centuries-old rules of the Jade Pot Sect.

With Yun Xiao, the current champion of the Outer Sect competition, successfully becoming a disciple, the atmosphere in the arena suddenly changed again because there was now another expectation about who else might advance to the Inner Sect of the Jade Pot Sect.
