Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

After the two kids completed their tasks, Ji Chuan gave each of them a big red envelope according to tradition.

An Hao accepted the envelopes on behalf of the kids and was secretly surprised by their thickness: ”Why is there so much? Isn’t this a bit too much?”

”Just take them! After all, these two kids call me godfather! They’re not my biological sons, but they’re practically like my own!” Ji Chuan really liked these clever little rascals and was willing to give them more money.

He took the good luck and had to give the kids a nice head start.

”Tomorrow, we’ll have to rely on these two kids a lot for the wedding!” Yan Huan was referring to having the kids hold the bundles.

”Don’t worry, we’ll definitely take care of it properly.” These two little rascals spoke like little grown-ups.

With the tasks completed, Qin Jian and An Hao were about to take the kids back, but Yan Huan insisted they stay a while longer.

She had more to talk about with An Hao.

Ji Chuan had already boiled water in the kitchen and made tea, hoping they would stay longer.

Since the hosts warmly invited them to stay, Qin Jian and his wife decided to sit for a while, chat a bit, then leave. The four adults were chatting leisurely in the living room while the two kids ran around playing in the various rooms.

”Have you gotten your marriage license?” An Hao asked.

”Got it a while ago,” Yan Huan replied, taking a sip of tea, ”Just recently, when Ji Chuan’s legs weren’t doing so well, we went and got the marriage license. The urgency, really!”

”He’s already thirty, how could he not be anxious?” Qin Jian said with a laugh, remembering how anxious he and Yan Huan were when they got married.

His parents were even more anxious, and his father-in-law was so anxious that he didn’t even discuss it; he just changed An Hao’s birth date.

That’s how they got married.

”I’m also thirty, aren’t I?” Though she was anxious, she wasn’t as anxious as Ji Chuan.

Ji Chuan raised his eyebrows and said, ”How could I not be anxious? You’re about to get married, and Cheng Yue calls you every few days. I’m worried, isn’t it obvious!”

”Why are you worried? Cheng Yue is already married, and I’ve got a marriage license with you. Legally speaking, we’re already a couple, our marriage is protected by law, so why are you worried?” Yan Huan dismissed his fussing with an eye roll.

When Cheng Yue was mentioned, An Hao casually asked: ”How is Cheng Yue doing?”

Back then, she remembered Yan Huan telling her that Cheng Yue married Shen Qiqi, which surprised her greatly.

Yan Huan also told her that Shen Qiqi had a car accident and was seriously injured in the leg, possibly never able to stand up again.

”He’s doing well.” Hearing Cheng Yue’s name again from Yan Huan’s mouth, she no longer felt the pain she once did. Now, her feelings towards him were natural, more like those towards an old friend she had known for years, ”Actually, I was the one who called him.”

After speaking, she turned to look at Ji Chuan sitting beside her and asked: ”I just wanted to tell him that I’m getting married too. Ji Chuan, you’re not mad, right?”

Ji Chuan gently held her hand, his voice soft and calm: ”I’m not mad! It’s perfectly normal, I have no reason to be mad.”

”I’m just worried you’d be jealous.”

”I am quite jealous. But I’m not angry at all. It’s time to put an end to your many years of feelings. I understand!” Ji Chuan said.
