Inheriting A Divine Cultivation Clan At The Start, All My Juniors Are Empresses

Chapter 1290: Chapter 52: A Spirit Beast Named Xiba (5)

The Cloud Descending Sect is rather fierce, but can this spirit beast really sniff out my presence? Can this spirit beast actually have such a function?

Yuchi didn’t believe it; he stood still, holding his breath and focused intently on the spirit beast. The beast’s gaze occasionally and accurately landed upon him, yet sometimes it swiftly shifted away from him. Seeing this, Yuchi felt slightly relieved.

Not too bad.

Although the opponent has detected his presence, it cannot precisely pinpoint his location. Just now, it merely glanced upon him by chance.

The function of this elixir has been explained many times, but it is not an invisibility elixir—it conceals breath.

To illustrate this: if a sheet of paper is suspended one meter away from a normal person, almost everyone’s gaze would instantly lock onto the paper and see the mysterious codes on it, revealing a smile like that of a caring father.

But if the sheet is removed, with no paper as a background object, no one can lock their gaze at the same distance; in the camera, it’s akin to pulling the bellows and being unable to focus.

That’s the current situation. After taking this elixir, Yuchi exists in this world but blends entirely with the background, unless the opponent is extraordinarily powerful; they cannot thoroughly pinpoint his exact position.

This is a subconscious disregard, similar to how frogs and bees cannot see stationary objects, a broad analogy.

”What’s the matter, Xiba?” A female disciple approached the spirit beast, noticing its unusual behavior compared to usual.

The spirit beast, called Xiba, wagged its tail, desperate to sense Yuchi’s location. But now it really couldn’t; with Yuchi completely still, it couldn’t capture the weakness in his movement like before.

The female disciple found it odd, but she had other matters to attend to, so she left first.

Xiba could only wander around the spot twice, then curled up with its left foot stepping on the right one, lying on the ground, continuing to guard the Lifei Sect.

”Whew!”

”This spirit beast called Xiba indeed has some skills.”

”The spirit beast itself almost has zero combat capability. If placed before us, I could flick its forehead to teach it a lesson or even Yin Shuang could easily handle it. But nevertheless, this spirit beast seems to possess a special ability to sense hidden dangers; in this way, it is quite formidable, isn’t it?”

Yuchi’s understanding of spirit beasts was from the previous Major Sect Competition, where such beasts were sold, though they were all ornamental, furry creatures sold at high prices to other cultivators, unlike this kind of spirit beast now.

This one genuinely has skill, and the name is rather peculiar—Xiba?

”What a silly name.”

Yuchi commented.

Xiba: ”Fine, you’re impressive, you’re aloof!”

Now that Xiba was noticed, Yuchi restrained himself even more than before, making it harder for Xiba to detect him.

Continuing his observation, Yuchi could confirm the sect appeared ordinary, even more regulated than typical sects.

Nothing seemed amiss; the disciples’ wages, their missions, and various miscellaneous matters were handled impeccably, without any noticeable flaws.

Local people were overjoyed to enter this sect, thinking it represented a promising future.

No way.

Yuchi resorted to temporarily leaving the Lifei Sect and reappearing in a remote mountain far from the sect.

”After observing these past two days, the damn Cloud Descending Sect conceals itself too well; mere darkness isn’t terrifying, it can be dispelled by light instantly. But if darkness is hidden within the light, then it becomes troublesome. I can’t distinguish real darkness from innocent cultivators.”

Originally prepared to wipe out the Cloud Descending Sect, now, apart from confirming that the Sect Leader is definitely linked to it, even the Grand Elder and others cannot be obviously incriminated. Slow investigation is possible, but would require an enormous amount of time.

With this time, Yuchi would prefer to abandon the Cloud Descending Sect and find smaller bases like the Cloud Descending Sect in Jiangzhou City; those bases have plenty of material.

”Let’s decide this for now.”

”Check the situation tonight and then leave; unraveling this place isn’t something an outsider like me can achieve quickly.”

”The problem is that my cultivation level is obviously insufficient; a single spirit beast can barely track my traces, not to mention the potential oddities within the sect. If I delve too deeply, I’m afraid I won’t be able to retreat unscathed.”
