Chapter 1197: Chapter 337: Plans for the Coming Year! Celebrating New Year’s Together!

”Of course, Xufu Town will surely not just be a Clothing Town in the future. As it grows larger, many other types of families will also come in, and by then it will be a super-large city. The city will be self-sufficient, able to achieve an ant colony effect, and its ability to withstand risks will become stronger and stronger.”

”This is very important.”

A small population has a weaker ability to withstand risks. To give a simple example, if there is only one person, then getting sick is very dangerous. But if there are two people, they can take care of each other. If there are ten people, then it can accommodate five people getting sick. If there are ten thousand people, then a thousand people getting sick is not alarming, let alone a million or ten million. The larger the population, the greater the ability to withstand risks, and this is the advantage of population.

To coordinate this advantage and avoid falling into a simple exploitation trap, the Chamber of Commerce is akin to a presence that suppresses malevolence, and this is particularly crucial.

Of course, the Four Major Institutions will also come into Xufu Town, and many things need to be broken down to avoid the simple concentration of power, which is an extremely dangerous matter.

The County Magistrate then cried and said, ”The government office can also provide a lot of gold and silver this time. The tax silver collected last year has already exceeded the previous ten years, and it turns out that many great families were evading taxes. So even though the government has lowered the tax collection significantly, the number of people paying taxes has increased more than ten-fold, resulting in the government treasury now being full of silver.”

”Therefore, even if the Chamber of Commerce only provides half the money, we can still manage by gritting our teeth.”

”The key now is how you handle these big towns; although they want to come over, they have sent people privately to inquire about our Xufu Town’s attitude, but because there are two other factions oppressing them, they don’t dare to come.”

”So...”

Yuchi chuckled, ”No problem, leave this matter to me, and you can handle your own affairs without worry. If the sky falls, I’ll be the first one crushed.”

The County Magistrate: ”...”

He looked at Yuchi, feeling that the young man seemed to have a mischievous smile...making it hard to ask. Who knows how powerful this young man really is?

Yuchi then smiled and asked, ”Can our Xufu Town be renamed?”

”Rename?” The County Magistrate was stunned, then nodded after a moment, ”Renaming is possible. We have the right to do so, but what’s the point of suddenly changing the name?”

”Because I want to rename it,” Yuchi continued, ”My lord, Xufu Town is just a town for now, but it will definitely become a big place famous beyond the state, so calling it Xufu Town is definitely not appropriate. We should rename it now; it will make things a lot easier in the future.”

The County Magistrate nodded. What Yuchi said made sense. Xufu Town isn’t just a town now, even some small cities aren’t as arrogant as Xufu Town. So renaming it is understandable...thinking this over, he knowingly asked, ”So does Chairman Yuchi have any suggestions?”

This is being considerate because once Yuchi asks such things, he will surely have his own judgment, and names aren’t things he decides on alone—letting Yuchi make the decision is better. This issue isn’t big and can still give Yuchi some face.

Yuchi: ”Let’s call it Jiangnan.”

The County Magistrate: ”Jiangnan?”

Yuchi stood up, looking at the sky outside: ”In the future, the south of the Twelve Linked Huts will be called Jiangnan, and the north of this river section will be called the Central Plains. Thus, my lord, you might consider placing the town north of the river, and later you can start contemplating the river channel renovation and other aspects.”

”Once the plan is proposed, it can be submitted to the Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber will provide a positive response quickly.”

”If possible, the Chamber of Commerce is very willing for Xufu Town to become great.”

”River channel renovation, mountain excavation, field development, road construction, medical halls, and schools—these complex things still need you to handle them well.”

Yuchi turned to see the County Magistrate increasingly absorbed in thought and awe, saying, ”Frankly speaking, what you’re doing is unprecedented in the Central Plains. If you manage these things well, leaving your name in history would be the simplest achievement. Your reputation will exceed any current emperor.”

After finishing, Yuchi smiled, saluted, and left, leaving the County Magistrate to gaze at the sky.

His teeth were chattering.

”Leaving a name in history.”

As he said these four words, his back was sweating. Honestly, at his level, matters such as gold and silver are but vanity. Can he eat ten meals in one day? Speaking of luxury consumption, its meaning is also insignificant. Moreover, because of his position as County Magistrate, such luxuries must be restrained.

Thus reputation and moral integrity are what concern him the most... Truly...if he could leave a name in history, this is absolutely the dream of every scholar. Gold and silver will age one day, status will disappear one day, but reputation will never disappear; it will be spoken of generation after generation. This realization evokes a great sense of emotion.
