”Now let’s continue to the next part,” Sol rasped, shifting his hips forward slightly to realign his aching cock against the soft, wet junction of her thighs.

He waited for her to yield, to part her knees or to show even a fraction of the decisive hunger she had displayed when she first closed the distance, but Veylara simply remained frozen.

Her shoulders were locked, her spine straight as an arrow, and her deep blue eyes darted with an unmistakable flicker of hesitation.

The sovereign Chief who had just conquered three tribal domains suddenly looked completely out of her depth, stranded like a novice hunter facing an unfamiliar quarry.

She looked... at a loss.

Sol paused, lifting his head. ”What’s wrong?”

Veylara pressed her lips together, her chest rising and falling in sharp, tight breaths. A deep crimson flush crawled from her collarbones up to the tips of her ears.

She hesitated for several long seconds, visibly battling her pride before she finally muttered, ”I... I do not know what we are supposed to do next. Didn’t we already have sex?”

”Huhhhhhhhh”

Sol blinked. For a full second the only sound was the soft lapping of the cold spring against their skin and the occasional chirp of nocturnal birds. Her words feeling completely ridiculous against the backdrop of their dripping, naked bodies.

”What do you mean, finish?” Sol asked, his raspy voice dropping into sheer bewilderment. ”And we’re just getting started. We’re about to fuck. We’re about to have sex.”

Veylara’s brows drew together, her jaw setting with that familiar, stubborn authority she used when addressing the warriors. ”Of course I know what sex is. Is it not what we just did? Though... it was far more intense and suffocating than I had imagined.”

Sol stared at her. The silence stretched between them for three agonizing seconds.

He lifted one hand from the water and pressed it to his face, dragging his palm down slowly, and let out a long, wheezing groan of absolute disbelief.

The Warchief of the Veynar... Layer 4 powerhouse, conqueror of the north, mother of Kira... had just looked him in the eye and declared that a thorough, tongue-fucking kiss was sex.

She can’t be serious, right? She’s a full blown Layer 4 warlord and she even has a grown daughter.

Seeing his reaction, Veylara’s embarrassment immediately flared into defensive, fiery anger. Her Layer 4 aura flickered dangerously beneath the surface of the water, making the ripples turn violent.

”What is that look for?!” she snapped, her voice hushed but sharp as flint. ”If that was not it, then what is it? Speak plainly!”

Sol exhaled once, long and controlled. Instead of arguing with an irritated woman, Sol moved.

He reached down, wrapped an arm around her narrow waist, smoothly turned her around in the water.

Before she could muster a protest or channel her strength, he pulled her back against his chest and hauled her backward so that she was seated firmly across his lap, as he settled on the submerged stone ledge at the edge of the deeper water.

”Sol! Let go—” Veylara made a startled sound and immediately struggled, her hands immediately coming up to shove against his forearms.

Sol didn’t budge. He locked his arms around her midsection, pulling her firm back flush against his broad chest, his lips brushing right against the shell of her ear.

”Relax,” he murmured, his deep voice carrying a low, soothing vibration and distracted her before the struggle could turn into something more serious. ”Before we get to that... where on earth did you get the idea that kissing was sex?”

Veylara stiffened against his chest. Her hands ceased their pushing, resting tensely on his thighs beneath the water. She turned her face slightly away, refusing to meet his eyes.

The question cut through her resistance more effectively than force would have.

Veylara went still in his arms, the strong muscles of her back tense against his chest.

For a moment she seemed to weigh whether answering would cost her more dignity than silence. Finally she spoke, quieter than before.

”I... I saw you,” she admitted quietly, the words forced out through gritted teeth. ”A few nights ago, before the march on the pass. I walked past the door of your quarters to discuss something. The curtain was parted. And I saw you and Kira pressed together on the furs... your mouths joined like that, breathing each other’s breath, making those sounds.”

She swallowed hard, her voice losing its edge. ”You looked completely consumed. I thought... that was the private act between mates.”

Sol couldn’t help the quiet chuckle that rumbled in his chest, vibrating right into her spine.

Even in this primitive world, where bloodlines and primal instincts dictated daily life, the sheer disparity between her lethal prowess and her sheltered understanding of basic pleasure was staggering.

”That was just kissing,” Sol said softly.

Even though the revelation left him deeply confused... how a woman who had already borne a daughter could have such a complete gap in knowledge... he forced himself to stay practical.

He slid his right hand down her damp stomach, beneath the surface of the water.

He took her right hand, wrapped his fingers around hers, and guided it behind her, between their bodies, pressing her palm directly against the thick, rock-hard length of his cock that was poking insistently against the soft skin of her lower back and the upper curve of her ass.

Veylara gasped sharply, her entire body flinching as if she had touched red-hot iron.

For the first time since this all started, did she finally pay attention to it.

The heat and rigidness of him in her palm were immense, clearly nothing like anything she had expected.

Her fingers flexed once in pure shock around the thick cock, feeling the heavy pulse of blood beneath the skin, the sheer size and hardness of it.

Sol kept his hand over hers for a moment, making certain she felt every inch of what she was holding, of course another reason was that his cock needed some simulation, otherwise he felt like he was about to explode any second.
