Chapter 2279: Chapter 2279: Bai City in Peril

The cultivators in Bai City, some rushed to the Bai Family Mansion seeking refuge, while others chose to flee the city. Those who wanted to leave the city knew that the Bai Family couldn’t hold Bai City, and staying in the city meant a dead end. However, if they took advantage of the moment before Sky Demon Mountain encircled the city, there was a glimmer of hope to escape.

But that glimmer of hope quickly shattered!

The methods of Sky Demon Mountain exceeded their imagination. Sky Demon Mountain had experience from massacring cities in Iron Bay, and they prepared extensively before each massacre. Once they made a move, it meant that they were ready. No city they targeted could let even a bug crawl out.

The cultivators who tried to escape Bai City were all, without exception, killed by the demons of Sky Demon Mountain. Even a loose cultivator’s Immortal Venerable was publicly slain by the demons of Sky Demon Mountain.

”It’s over!”

”Bai City is finished, we’re going to die, all of us are going to die.”

”The demons of Sky Demon Mountain...”

In fact, the number of cultivators in Bai City now is much less than usual. Some well-informed cultivators left Bai City in advance. Although the Bai Family knew a crisis was coming, Bai City was the foundation of the Bai Family, anyone could leave Bai City except for the Bai Family.

Moreover, Bai Wentai had an elder Yi request an audience with Lord Bu Yun in advance, and Lord Bu Yun agreed to provide assistance if the demons of Sky Demon Mountain appeared.

”Family Head, what do we do now?” Elder Yi asked.

”Don’t panic.” Bai Wentai was agitated himself, but he knew he had to stay calm at this moment.

”Elder Yi, contact Lord Bu Yun immediately and report that the demons of Sky Demon Mountain have arrived in Bai City and ask him to take action at once.” Bai Wentai instructed Elder Yi.

”Yes!” Elder Yi responded.

Then, Bai Wentai sent messages to gather all the high-ranking members of the Bai Family.

Considering the urgency, it was no longer viable to have the guards invite them one by one.

In fact, as Bai Wentai was sending messages, some high-ranking members were already heading toward Bai Wentai’s courtyard.

Shortly after Bai Wentai sent the message, all the high-level members of the Bai Family had arrived. These high-level members knew in advance that Sky Demon Mountain was going to attack Bai City. With the crisis at hand, they were prepared.

”Everyone, the situation is urgent, we have no time to discuss.”

”Elder Yi has already contacted Lord Bu Yun, as long as Lord Bu Yun arrives in time, there is still hope for our Bai Family, for Bai City.”

”What we need to do is to resist with all our might. Before Lord Bu Yun arrives, we must hold off those demons.”

”Now, everyone, go and prepare!”

Hearing that Lord Bu Yun would arrive soon, some pale faces regained some color.

There is still hope!

All the high-ranking members immediately started preparing. Cultivators of Nether Sky Realm and above in the Bai Family were called upon.

After instructing the family’s high-level members, Bai Wentai left the family mansion. At this time, an innumerable amount of cultivators had gathered near the Bai Family Mansion, waiting for the Bai Family’s response.

”Everyone!”

”The demons of Sky Demon Mountain intend to massacre Bai City, everyone knows the consequences of the city being breached.”

”Our only hope is to resist, to fight those demons to the death.” Bai Wentai’s voice spread throughout the city.

”Family Head Bai, how can we resist Sky Demon Mountain?”

”Indeed, in past history, cities much stronger than Bai City couldn’t withstand Sky Demon Mountain!”

”Family Head Bai...” disorderly voices echoed everywhere.

”Fellow Taoists, our Bai Family has asked for Lord Bu Yun’s assistance, and Lord Bu Yun has agreed. So, we just need to hold off Sky Demon Mountain’s demons before Lord Bu Yun arrives, then there’s a chance to survive. But if we don’t resist, then it’s a dead end.” Bai Wentai shouted loudly.

Bai Wentai did not utter any dignified words.

Who doesn’t want to survive? Bai Wentai was direct; he just told everyone that resisting demons was the hope of surviving, and not resisting was a dead end.

No one here is foolish; they certainly knew what choice to make.

The people of Sky Demon Mountain are true demons. If it were a battle between forces before, these cultivators might have a great chance to be spared if they begged for mercy and could survive, but the demons of Sky Demon Mountain would not spare anyone in Bai City, even if they begged on their knees, the result would be the same.

Outside Bai City.

Groups of demons from Sky Demon Mountain were distributed all around the city. By now, Bai City had been completely locked down.

This time, leading the demons from Sky Demon Mountain to massacre Bai City was a black-faced elder, one of the Demon Lords of Sky Demon Mountain. Sky Demon Mountain had five Demon Lords, each immensely powerful; although in the Immortal Venerable Realm, they were the strongest Immortal Venerables.

If it came to a battle, the Demon Lords of Sky Demon Mountain could almost match up with the Wu Guo Heavenly Lord of West Faro Heaven. Even if they were not quite as strong, the gap would not be large.

This Demon Lord led a group of demons in the Immortal Venerable Realm and numerous demons in the Immortal Rhythm Netherworld Realm, aiming to raze Bai City to the ground.

”Lord Demon, everything is ready, we can initiate the attack anytime,” a demon in the Immortal Venerable Realm reported to the Demon Lord.

”Hm!”

”Order the attack to begin! Remember, Bai Wentai has a daughter named Bai Bingli, everyone must pay attention to this woman. The Great Demon Lord has ordered that this woman, Bai Bingli, must be brought back to Sky Demon Mountain alive,” the Demon Lord said in a sinister voice.

”Yes!” All the demons responded in unison.

This Demon Lord, ranked third among the five Demon Lords of Sky Demon Mountain, was named Youlong.

”The Demon Lord has ordered the attack to begin!”

”Kill!”

”Kill all life in Bai City!” The thunderous chants, full of brutal and cold-blooded excitement, resounded between heaven and earth.

A tremendous number of demons activated their divine power, rushing madly toward Bai City. Terrifying beams filled the sky and the earth. In this vast power, even heaven and earth seemed to tremble. Inside Bai City, countless cultivators widened their eyes, watching the demons approaching from outside the city.

The city’s Guardian Array in Bai City was fully activated, layers of light enveloping, with the Guardian Array’s power operating at its peak at this moment.

”We must hold on, we must!”

”When Lord Bu Yun arrives, we will be saved!” Bai Wentai hovered above the Bai Family Mansion, watching the distant sky with a face full of gravity.

The demons of Sky Demon Mountain had already engaged with Bai City’s Guardian Array; countless attacks landed on the array.

The demons were too many, and each one was extremely ferocious. Facing so many attacks, even the strongest Guardian Array could not endure it. Moreover, Bai City in Iron Bay was considered just an average city. The Guardian Array couldn’t withstand it for long.
