The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 1999: Chapter 1999: Electing a Leader

The ominous gaze of the black figure focused on the distant, gray void.

”Dao Master, this child’s growth rate is astonishing. If we don’t kill him now, once he reaches the Controller Level, he will be even harder to deal with than the Ancient Tree Elder,” the burly man spoke again.

His words revealed a deep understanding of Jing Yan.

”Kill him now? Tell me, how do you propose to kill him?” the black figure demanded coldly.

The burly man remained silent.

”If I could personally make a move, killing him would be as easy as pie. But my true form cannot descend into this Chaos. The Chaos Will intensely rejects outsiders like me. Even if I force my descent, my strength would be severely weakened and suppressed. It took me billions of years of planning to get an opportunity to finally kill the Ancient Tree Elder,” the black shadow’s voice was filled with deep resentment.

”Damn it, so damn hateful!”

”I’ve endured for too long, all to claim this Chaos. I’ve waited too long. That fool He Ming couldn’t even handle a brat who has only been cultivating for a few million years. Damn him, damn him! I invested so much to cultivate him, and this is how he repays me?” the black shadow almost roared.

”Dao Master, please guide me on what to do next,” the burly man said with his head lowered.

”Sigh, relying on you alone cannot eliminate Jing Yan. So damn it, if only it were easier to send more apostles, we wouldn’t need to wait, we could directly advance and crush, infiltrate the Primordial Chaos Tree Space, and absorb the vitality of the tree,” the black figure snarled.

”No more waiting! We can’t wait any longer! Go notify those Devouring Mother entities, tell them to start birthing Devouring lives at the fastest speed. Then, wait for my orders. As soon as my command is given, launch a full-scale attack,” the black figure instructed the burly man.

”Dao Master, although those Devouring Mother entities have been in this Chaos for quite some time, they are still at a disadvantage compared to the Chaos Creatures. If we launch a full-scale attack now, it might not cause a devastating blow to the Chaos Creatures,” the burly man frowned.

”I know, but I have no more patience. Let’s just do it, let them wait for my order. Once I give the command, they will launch a full-scale attack, killing as many Chaos Creatures as possible. As long as this Chaos falls into chaos, the restrictions of the Chaos Will on me will lessen. Even if my true form still can’t fully descend, as long as I can send more apostles, there is a hope to plunder,” the black figure nodded slightly.

”Yes!” Seeing that the Dao Master had decided, the burly man nodded and took his leave.

Chaotic Region!

”Ma Yi Ancestor, Du Ya Ancestor!” Jing Yan, along with two ancient Title Controllers, entered the hidden space he discovered earlier.

”It seems the Devouring Sky Clan life forms have left. Last time, I found a Devouring Sky Clan nest in this space. Back then, I was still in the All Things Realm, so I could enter the nest and gather some intelligence, confirming that a Mother entity was hiding there. Now, the Devouring Sky Clan nest is no longer in this space,” Jing Yan said to the two.

”Sigh, it seems we were a step too late. If we could have come a bit earlier...” Ma Yi Ancestor remarked with regret.

”Ma Yi, even if we could find that Devouring Sky Clan nest and knew a Devouring Sky Clan Mother was inside, we might not have been able to destroy it. With just the two of us, plus Jing Yan, there’s less than a thirty percent chance we could destroy that nest,” Du Ya Ancestor said.

”We could notify other Title Controllers to come,” Ma Yi Ancestor suggested.

”Notifying others takes time. Devouring Sky Clan Mothers are extremely cunning. As soon as we arrive, the Mother entity will also detect us. The Mother entity will flee. You know how difficult it is to capture a Devouring Sky Clan Mother with our methods. Over these long years, we’ve only managed to kill two Devouring Sky Clan Mothers,” Du Ya Ancestor shook his head.

Ma Yi Ancestor fell silent as well.

The three of them searched the hidden space thoroughly, confirming that the Devouring Sky Clan nest discovered by Jing Yan was gone, and only then did they stop.

Jing Yan exchanged Divine Soul Marks with Ma Yi Ancestor and Du Ya Ancestor. This way, they could communicate with each other at any time in Chaos.

To be honest, Jing Yan had his reservations about Du Ya Ancestor.

Du Ya Ancestor’s obstruction of Ma Yi Ancestor’s aid to the Hongjun Heavenly Palace was, no matter how one looked at it, detrimental to the palace. However, Du Ya Ancestor didn’t act directly against Hongjun Heavenly Palace; he merely stopped Ma Yi Ancestor to repay an unavoidable favor. In addition, Du Ya Ancestor later admitted his mistake and promised to help Hongjun Heavenly Palace in the future. So, although Jing Yan felt displeased, he decided to let the matter go and not pursue it further.

Upon leaving the hidden space, Ma Yi Ancestor and Du Ya Ancestor bid farewell to Jing Yan.

Jing Yan also established a wormhole and returned to the Ultimate Land, Hongjun Heavenly Palace.

A large number of members, up and down the Hongjun Heavenly Palace, were working on repairing the big array inside and outside the palace. Although the palace wasn’t breached during the attack by the Void Divine Hall, the internal and external arrays were damaged to various extents and needed to be repaired.

Some of the controller-level powerhouses of the palace weren’t at the headquarters; some had gone with Chenyuan Emperor to those two Chaos Countries. Palace Master Nuwa went with the Ancient Vine Elder to the Void Divine Hall Headquarters. These people hadn’t returned yet, but from the information they sent back, their missions were going smoothly, and they would return before long.

Inside the Heavenly Palace.

At this moment, Jing Yan, Vice Palace Master Ye Zhen, and several Chaos Hall Masters who hadn’t left gathered here.

”Jing Yan, our Hongjun Heavenly Palace’s Ancestor, it’s likely he has truly perished!” Vice Palace Master Ye Zhen sighed.

It’s hard to accept, unwilling to believe it.

But the fact remains: the Ancestor’s Dharma Body in the Reincarnation Path has shattered.

”With the Ancestor’s death, our Hongjun Heavenly Palace temporarily lacks a leader. As an Ultimate Force in Chaos, we can’t go without a leader for long. So I believe we need to start selecting a new leader to guide Hongjun Heavenly Palace!” Vice Palace Master Ye Zhen suggested.

”Indeed! The Vice Palace Master is right. The pressing matter is for the palace to have a new leader!” Niao Cheng Palace Master nodded in agreement.

”That’s right, without a leader, there is always a feeling of instability!”

”...” The other Hall Masters present began to express their agreement.
