The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 1974: Chapter 1974: Creating a Chaos Top Secret Technique

Using the Fate Dao to deduce the Ancient Tree Inheritance again and again, Jing Yan had always felt there was some part of it he hadn’t seen through; yet he could never clearly pinpoint exactly what remained obscure. So, he could only temporarily set it aside.

Next, Jing Yan began cultivating the Hongmeng Dao Patterns again.

He had already mastered the Ninth Floor of the Ancient Tree Inheritance, but the Hongmeng Dao Patterns were still stuck at the Sixth Layer.

Now that Jing Yan had Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves, his resources were more than sufficient, so naturally he would continue cultivating the Hongmeng Dao Patterns. Compared to the Ancient Tree Inheritance, the Hongmeng Dao Patterns were actually far more terrifying in offensive power. The Ancient Tree Inheritance tempered the Physical Body, relying on one’s own strength for attack and defense. The Hongmeng Dao Patterns, however, were Law-based attacks, a relatively pure offensive method that could kill enemies from a great distance.

The Hongmeng Dao Patterns were a Secret Technique Jing Yan would never abandon. In this Chaos, the Hongmeng Dao Patterns were also a top-tier Chaos Level Secret Skill; within the entire Chaos, there were not many Secret Techniques that could rival the Hongmeng Dao Patterns.

With Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves, Jing Yan’s cultivation speed on the Hongmeng Dao Patterns was likewise extremely fast.

After Jing Yan took charge of the Ancient Tree Elder Ruins, he obtained seven Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves and many extremely precious Treasures from within. In the Ancient Tree Space, the Primordial Chaos Tree had given Jing Yan another nine leaves and a single fruit. Adding them together, Jing Yan had a total of sixteen Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves.

Previously, in order to master the Ninth Layer Ancient Tree Inheritance, Jing Yan had consumed two leaves, so he now had fourteen leaves remaining.

Swallowing one Primordial Ancient Tree Leaf, Jing Yan began on the Seventh Layer Hongmeng Dao Pattern.

As a top-tier Chaos Level Secret Art, the cultivation difficulty of the Hongmeng Dao Patterns was extremely high. The Seventh Layer Hongmeng Dao Pattern was already at a High-level tier, and the cultivation difficulty was even greater. Even though Jing Yan had now stepped into the Controller Level, his Divine Soul Body had become even stronger, and he also had Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves, cultivating the Seventh Layer Hongmeng Dao Pattern still required a great deal of time.

It took nearly two hundred years and the consumption of two Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves before Jing Yan finally mastered the Hongmeng Dao Patterns to the Seventh Layer.

The Eighth Layer Hongmeng Dao Pattern, however, was even more difficult. Using the Fate Dao to deduce, Jing Yan reached a preliminary conclusion: to master the Eighth Layer Hongmeng Dao Pattern, even with the use of Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves, would require roughly five hundred years.

After thinking it over, Jing Yan decided to first cultivate Gravity Magic. Previously, Jing Yan’s Gravity Magic had already been cultivated to the third diagram; he had mastered half of the third diagram of Gravity Magic, which corresponded to forty-five layers.

With Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves and abundant resources, Jing Yan’s subsequent cultivation of Gravity Magic went very smoothly. In just a little over ten years, he fully mastered the third diagram of Gravity Magic, cultivating it to the fifty-fourth layer.

Immediately after, Jing Yan began cultivating the fourth diagram of Gravity Magic.

In total, after spending eighty-six years, Jing Yan cultivated Gravity Magic to the seventy-second layer, which meant he had mastered the first four diagrams. After mastering the first four diagrams, Jing Yan also attempted the fifth diagram, which was the final diagram of Gravity Magic.

After attempting it, Jing Yan could only shake his head and temporarily give up on continuing. The fifth diagram was not complete. Back then, the Ancient Vine Elder had also said that Gravity Magic was not complete; while the Ancient Tree Elder was alive, he had never fully perfected Gravity Magic. The fifth diagram was only a direction; its cultivation method had yet to be verified. Simply put, the fifth diagram was just a framework; as for how to cultivate it and how to unleash its Power, the fifth diagram did not explain the methods.

If Jing Yan wanted to cultivate the fifth diagram of Gravity Magic, he would have to comprehend it on his own, and that would take far too much time.

The Ancient Tree Inheritance and the Hongmeng Dao Patterns were both very complete inheritance Secret Techniques. When cultivating them, there was a clear direction; one only needed to follow the path to comprehend and master them. But this fifth diagram at the end of Gravity Magic was not like that.

Jing Yan felt that if he wanted to perfect the fifth diagram of Gravity Magic, even if he used up all the remaining Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves, it would likely be far from enough. At this level of Spell, the difficulty of perfecting it was astonishing. One had to know, back then even the Ancient Tree Elder had not been able to completely perfect Gravity Magic. How long had it taken the Ancient Tree Elder to create Gravity Magic? That would be calculated in units of hundreds of millions of years.

Perfecting Gravity Magic could not be rushed; it could only be done slowly. Using Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves and relying on the leaves’ effects to improve it was certainly highly efficient. However, Xiao Ran would never do something so extravagant; his Primordial Ancient Tree Leaves were not inexhaustible. So Jing Yan planned to stop here for now and slowly perfect Gravity Magic in the future.

”Ancient Tree Inheritance, Ninth Floor! Hongmeng Dao Patterns, Seventh Layer! Gravity Magic, also mastered to the seventy-second layer!”

”These are my several strongest methods as they stand.”

”The Destruction Dao, Void Path, and Fate Dao—these three Dao Skills have basically all reached the highest tier. Perhaps above the Great Dao there are even higher Dao Skills, but even if they exist, I cannot actively seek them out; I must rely on opportunity.”

”Chaos Sword!”

”Of my current methods, aside from the several Great Dao, all are learned from others. One could say that my own attack, in the true sense, is only the Chaos Sword. Yet my Chaos Sword, strictly speaking, is not a Secret Technique. The Power of the Chaos Sword is very strong, but that is entirely because it fuses Great Dao and other Secret Techniques to achieve that level of Power.”

”It is time to create an offensive Secret Technique that truly belongs to me.” Sitting cross-legged, a faint glint flashed in Jing Yan’s eyes as he turned his thoughts over.

Those Title Controllers in Chaos all had offensive Secret Techniques of their own.

The Hongmeng Ancestor created the Hongmeng Dao Patterns. The Void Divine Palace Master He Ming created the Void Realm Spirit, one of the Chaos Top Secret Methods. Forces such as the Boundaryless Spirit Mountain and Luoshui Divine Palace all had Chaos Top Secret Methods of their own.

Even a Title Controller like Wei Zhen had Secret Techniques he created himself. Wei Zhen’s self-created Secret Technique was called the Nine Wheel Shattering Sky Saber, also a top-tier Chaos Level Secret Art, an extremely domineering offensive Secret Technique. In terms of Attack Power alone, it was in no way inferior to Secret Techniques such as the Hongmeng Dao Patterns; it was only that overall it might be somewhat lacking, and it was not easy to pass on for others to cultivate.

Some of the Chaos Level Secret Skills among the Seven Countries of the Five Lands were relatively easy for others to cultivate, and only in that way could a powerful faction gradually be formed. If a Secret Technique was very difficult for others to cultivate, then it could not serve as the foundation of a Secret Technique-based powerful force.

To create a Secret Technique, for an ordinary Lifeform, was of course extraordinarily difficult. With Jing Yan’s current ability, creating an ordinary Secret Technique was not hard, but to create a Chaos Level Secret Technique was not something that could be done just by turning one’s mind a few times.

Fortunately, when Jing Yan was still weak, he had already been consciously constructing an offensive method of his own. Though the Chaos Sword was very crude, it was at least a prototype. Using the Chaos Sword as the core to perfect a Secret Technique would be relatively much easier.
