The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 788: Chapter 788 Axe Demon

Watching the battle formation of Dao Emperor Realm Martial Artists from the Ancient Family Camp slide toward the brink of collapse.

Inside the Gu Family’s battle formation, the supporting Dao Emperor Realm Martial Artists began to curse Gu Wanquan out loud.

At such a critical moment, Gu Wanquan still hadn’t ordered a retreat—did he want everyone to die here?

Who wanted to die?

Jing Yan’s sword slashed down, and two or three Dao Emperors were beheaded at once. At this very moment, they had all pushed their Primordial Energy to the limit, and the energy shields of their Defensive Spiritual Artifacts began to flicker, clearly showing they wouldn’t last much longer under the assault of the Dao Emperor Realm Practitioner’s battle formation from the Glory Alliance!

”Gu Wanquan, are you just going to cower in the back like this?”

”Truly shameless! Hiding behind others, letting them die for you while you cling to life!” Jing Yan said scornfully.

Because Gu Wanquan was hiding in a position towards the rear amidst many Dao Emperor Realm Martial Artists, even Jing Yan was unable to directly attack Gu Wanquan. If Gu Wanquan didn’t come out himself, they would have to break through the battle formation composed of Dao Emperor Martial Artists of the Gu Family first.

”Whoosh!”

Just at that moment, a vast power surged over from the north, overwhelming the sky.

Everyone above the Ancient Family Mansion felt a terrible, immense pressure at the first sign of its arrival.

Every body slightly shook, and their gazes turned unanimously in one direction.

There, a robust figure with disheveled hair advanced through the air with measured steps. In his hands, he held a jet-black axe that was even bigger than his body.

The axe was extremely odd, with an unusually short handle that fit just right when gripped. However, the body of the axe was absurdly large.

On closer inspection, one could see that the blade was full of nicks, and it was covered in rust spots.

If this axe had been discarded on the ground, few would have given it a second glance, likely considering it no more than a piece of scrap iron.

But when held in the hands of this wild, disheveled man, it exuded an endless murderous intent.

”That is...” Jing Yan stared at the newly arrived burly man, feeling a twinge of apprehension in his heart.

Because Jing Yan sensed a dangerous aura. The burly man was dressed in Beast Skin clothes, resembling a wildman.

After stepping into the Dao Emperor Realm Peak, Jing Yan’s Divine Soul had grown more robust and his Divine Thought more concentrated, making his perception of danger even keener. Upon the burly man’s appearance, Jing Yan smelled an intense whiff of peril.

Jing Yan didn’t continue his attack on the Ancient Family’s battle formation but directed all his attention to the burly man. After the burly man’s arrival, he didn’t utter a word; he just coldly surveyed the scene with eyes fierce as those of a wild beast, displaying no trace of luster or fluctuation, only a gripping coldness.

”Axe Demon Gu Wutian?” A shocked cry erupted from the mouth of the Great Hall Master of the Holy Hall.

”Gu Wutian? Ah... It really is him!”

”Damn, how did he show up here?”

”...” Within the Glory Alliance’s battle formation, unexpectedly, quite a number of people recognized this wild, disheveled man.

This person, his name was Gu Wutian!

”He is Gu Wutian!” Jing Yan thought to himself.

This name, Jing Yan, was not unfamiliar to him; the Holy Master Shen Chong of the Holy Land had mentioned Gu Wutian several times. And what made the name deeply impressed upon Jing Yan’s mind was that whenever Shen Chong spoke of this name, there was an unmistakable solemnity and unnaturalness emanating from the depths of his being.

This Gu Wutian was naturally of the Gu Family.

However, his life experiences were incredibly strange and jaw-dropping. Gu Wutian’s father was of the Gu Family. But his mother was not human, instead, she was a spiritual beast, a type known as a wildman spiritual beast.

Gu Wutian’s mother was a very rare type of spiritual beast, with a form close to that of humans and intelligence not inferior to that of humans.

After Gu Wutian was born, his father, due to reasons of identity, wanted to kill him. It was his mother who desperately saved him, hiding deep in a dangerous land filled with spiritual beasts. As Gu Wutian grew to understand the world, his mother was killed in clashes with other spiritual beasts, and since then Gu Wutian has traveled alone within the perilous lands.

At the time, he was only around ten years old. Under normal circumstances, he could not have survived. But unexpectedly, he did survive, and his combat power advanced by leaps and bounds. In just under a hundred years, he had acquired the combat power of a Dao Emperor Realm Practitioner, slaying the spiritual beast that had killed his mother.

Gu Wutian’s heart was filled with hatred.

Because he looked not much different from humans, he found it convenient to move around in the Human Territory.

After he ascertained his father’s identity, and also understood the true strength of the Gu Family, he knew that with his combat power at that time, he could not confront the Gu Family head-on, nor did he have the standing to speak to them. Thus, he endured and secretly intensified his training to increase his strength. Indeed, his training was extremely insane, bordering on madness, as he nearly always pushed himself to the brink of life and death.

The axe in his hand was his most fearsome weapon. This axe was also his trademark. On the Continent, the very old Martial Artists all referred to him as the Axe Demon!

Around the time he was two hundred years old, his combat power had already reached the level of a First-class Combat Power, a Dao Emperor Realm Peak Martial Artists. It was also during that time that Gu Wutian arrived at the Ancient Family Mansion, revealing his origin.

His father, who was also a Dao King Realm elder of the Gu Family, was understandably shocked when he found out Gu Wutian was his son. He had thought that Gu Wutian and his mother had died long ago, but to his surprise...

The events that followed were known only to a few high-ranking members of the Gu Family. The information obtained by outsiders was not accurate and was mostly based on rumors.

However, one thing was certain, Gu Wutian killed his father with his own hands. And yet, the Gu Family did not retaliate against him; Gu Wanquan even tried his best to win over Gu Wutian, hoping that Gu Wutian would serve the family.

Gu Wutian lived in the Gu Family for roughly a few decades and then left alone, allegedly entering Despair Abyss, and thereafter never returning to this side of the Heavenly Origin Continent again.

Therefore, the appearance of Gu Wutian took everyone present by surprise. Even the Hall Masters of the Holy Hall had not expected that this perilously shaped figure, with such an abnormal growth experience, would return here when the destruction of the Gu Family was imminent.

When Gu Wutian left, he was only a little over two hundred years old, and now, his age was nearly thirteen hundred years. That is to say, he had not appeared on the Heavenly Origin Continent for over a thousand years.

At two hundred years old, he had the strength of a Dao Emperor Realm Peak Martial Artists with First-class Combat Power; now a thousand years later, one could only imagine how formidable Gu Wutian’s combat power had become.

Seeing Gu Wutian’s appearance, the warriors of the Glory Alliance camp involuntarily felt a shiver in their hearts.

”Wutian, you’ve finally come!” Gu Wanquan, seeing the arrival of Gu Wutian, was ecstatic, with a fervent expression re-emerging in his eyes.

He had been waiting for Gu Wutian all this time!

He had repeatedly sent out messages using the Communication Crystal Stone, and the recipient of these messages was none other than Gu Wutian.

Gu Wutian had never responded, which almost led Gu Wanquan to believe that Gu Wutian would not return.

But at this critical moment, Gu Wutian still came.
