The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Turn of Events Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Turn of Events Sun Biao slightly lowered his head.

He had helped prevent criminal Liu Daquan from fleeing, which should also be considered a merit.

The new Town Mayor surely had to provide some kind of reward, right?

But he didn’t know what kind of temper the new Town Mayor had.

If he was easy to speak with, it might be possible to discuss, the issue of the Liu Family’s property distribution with him.

Although the lion’s share would certainly belong to the Mayor, shouldn’t others be allowed to have a sip of soup when the Mayor had his fill of meat?

After his words had fallen, Sun Biao looked again in the direction of the gate of the Liu Family Mansion.

So far, it seemed that the new Town Mayor hadn’t made an appearance.

This Town Mayor really seemed to be putting on airs!

Hearing Sun Biao’s words, Liu Daquan just snickered softly.

He had no intention of fleeing at all, and Sun Biao’s words were essentially slander.

But he couldn’t be bothered to explain anymore; no matter what, he wouldn’t be able to clear things up.

He was indeed inside the Mayor Mansion when the Mayor died, and he did indeed have an acquaintance with Young Master Jing Yan who killed the Mayor.

Forget it!

In the end, it was just a matter of death.

He just regretted that he now couldn’t avenge his daughter…

Liu Daquan glanced at the sky and arrogantly lifted his head with a hint of moisture in his eyes.

As for Liu Huang and the two others, they naturally followed suit with Sun Biao’s line of reasoning, claiming that they had meritorious service in preventing Liu Daquan from escaping.

“You!

How dare you!”

Ye Chen suddenly burst out angrily.

“How brazen of you to show disrespect towards the Town Mayor!

Guards, take them into custody!” Ye Chen waved his arm.

“Yes!” The black Armored Guards behind him trembled their weapons slightly and quickly surrounded Sun Biao and the others, radiating murderous intent.

If Sun Biao and the others dared to resist, they would be shown no mercy.

“Huh?”

“What do you mean?”

“What’s going on?”

Sun Biao and the others were instantly dumbfounded.

They hadn’t realized what was happening.

Shouldn’t the Armored Guard Team be arresting Liu Daquan first?

Why were they surrounding them now?

“Sir, you’ve misunderstood, you’ve really misunderstood!” Sun Biao cried out anxiously.

“We aren’t from the Liu Family, we really did come here to stop Liu Daquan from escaping.

If you don’t believe me, you can ask anyone outside; we have nothing to do with the Liu Family,” Sun Biao still believed that the Armored Guard Team had mistakenly lumped them together with Liu Daquan.

Liu Huang and the others also anxiously tried to explain.

Although the number of Armored Guards inside the courtyard was roughly the same as the number of guards they had brought, if a real fight were to start, they would surely be the ones completely annihilated in the end.

And not only would they die, but their families would have nowhere to go but down a dead-end path.

“Everyone shut up!” Ye Chen glared coldly at Sun Biao and the others.

Liu Daquan also showed a puzzled expression.

Why did the Duyang City Lord Mansion’s Armored Guard Team not make a move against him first but instead started with Sun Biao and the others?

“Is this gentleman Liu Daquan?” Ye Chen, at that time, walked towards Liu Daquan and respectfully asked.

Being from the Innate Realm, and Liu Daquan merely an average Postnatal Martial Artist, and with Liu Daquan the new Mayor, and his own position as the Town Mayor Guard, he certainly needed to be respectful to the Mayor.

“Ah?” Liu Daquan was taken aback by Ye Chen’s words.

This situation was clearly beyond his expectations.

Not just him, but Sun Biao and the others were completely flabbergasted.

This Guard Captain was actually questioning Liu Daquan with respect, asking if he was Liu Daquan.

Mayor Liu Daquan?

What on earth was going on?

“I…

I am Liu Daquan!” Although Liu Daquan’s mind was somewhat muddled, he still responded.

“Subordinate Ye Chen, at your service, Mayor!” Ye Chen deeply bowed towards Liu Daquan.

Immediately, he took out the official appointment document that designated Liu Daquan as the Mayor of Black Wind Town and handed it to Liu Daquan with both hands.

“Mayor?” Liu Daquan subconsciously took the document from Ye Chen and opened it to look.

“Liu Daquan, you have been personally appointed by the Duyang City Lord as the new Mayor of Black Wind Town.

You lot actually dared to besiege the Mayor’s residence, how audacious and utterly nefarious!” After handing over the document to Liu Daquan, Ye Chen then turned his gaze towards Sun Biao and the others who were now gaping.

“Mayor, how should these people be dealt with?” Ye Chen turned to ask Liu Daquan.

Being the Mayor, it was certainly Liu Daquan’s authority to decide how to handle Sun Biao and the others.

At this time, Liu Daquan had read through the official appointment document.

He didn’t know why the City Lord would appoint him as the Mayor of Black Wind Town, but he did understand that he truly was the Mayor now.

He also faintly guessed that this matter was highly likely related to Jing Yan.

Since he had no connection with the Duyang City Lord Mansion and did not recognize the Duyang City Lord.

If not for Jing Yan, Liu Daquan couldn’t think of a second possibility.

But how could Young Master Jing Yan make the City Lord Mansion not only drop the charges against him but also appoint him as the Mayor of Black Wind Town?

Shaking his head, Liu Daquan put aside his thoughts, turned his cold gaze toward Sun Biao and the others, his lips forming a smile.

“Captain Ye Chen, arrest them all and I will slowly judge their crimes later!

Should they resist, kill them on the spot!” Liu Daquan commanded with a cold voice.

The tide had completely turned.

Before, Liu Daquan was like a fish on the chopping board, subject to others’ control, but now Liu Daquan was the one wielding the knife, with Sun Biao and the others reduced to the fish.

“Yes!” Ye Chen complied.

“Take them all!

If they resist, show no mercy!” Ye Chen ordered.

“You…

You’re not the City Lord Mansion Guard Team; you definitely aren’t!” Sun Biao’s face turned red with disbelief.

He couldn’t believe that these people were truly from the Duyang City Lord Mansion’s Armored Guard Team.

These people had to be imposters.

Both Liu Daquan and Jing Yan had killed the previous Mayor, and their crimes were extremely grave.

How could the City Lord Mansion’s Guard Team possibly not prosecute Liu Daquan and even allow him to take up the position as the new Mayor of Black Wind Town?

Of course, Sun Biao couldn’t be certain these men were imposters, but at this moment, he was somewhat out of control.

The kind of pressure he had put on Liu Daquan before—Liu Daquan would surely not let that slide.

He knew that once he was arrested, he would certainly be doomed.

If he resisted now, there might still be a chance to live.

“Clang!” Sun Biao drew his weapon, ready to confront the guards rushing toward him.

“Death to those who dare resist!” Ye Chen bellowed, his figure flashed, and his long blade swiftly cut through the air.

As an Innate Realm Martial Artist, how could Sun Biao hope to withstand him?

With one slice of the blade, light flared, instantly sweeping across.

Sun Biao was directly cleaved by the light of the blade.
