Chapter 1025: Chapter 1024: Unprecedented

”Descendants of the Augustus family... you have misunderstood something. I have already fulfilled my promise.”

The vacant eye, outlined by a mass of distorted lines, floats in the air of the Hall of Mysteries. Although it lacks any expression or demeanor, a strong sense of mockery, even derision, emanates from every tiny variation of it. It’s as if the malice accumulated and disguised for two hundred years finally reveals its true face, accompanied by unapologetic ridicule.

”I only promised to help you weaken the War God and create an opportunity for your final strike—I never promised to weaken him to a specific extent or guaranteed success. And I already created the opportunity for you just now, but alas... you failed to seize it.”

Standing tall on the peak of the western side of the mountain at Bitter Winter Castle, the clouds rising from the mountain path are gradually dispersing, a vague, massive shadow writhes within the clouds of explosion, mixed with an evident rage in the frenzied howls that drive minds to madness.

”Goodbye, descendants of the Augustus family—thank you for the power you’ve provided and your compromises in spirit. I will fondly remember our pleasant times together over the years...” The distorted and hollow eye trembles as its voice gradually becomes distant, and even the phantom figure dims bit by bit in the air. ”Rest assured, I will abide by my promise. I won’t intervene with any ’Augustus’ family again... After liberation, I still have many, many things to do. A small mortal family will soon fade from my memory...”

Finally, the distorted hollow eye completely disappears, and all of its aura leaves this battlefield of gods and men, also departing from Emperor Rosetta Augustus’s mind, as agreed—It gained freedom.

Rosetta watches the scene with an expressionless face, seemingly detached from all external changes. After the Eye of the God leaves, he seems to enjoy the rare freedom spanning decades—the first freedom for the entire Augustus family in two hundred years. He then gently exhales, gazing in the direction of the Eye of the God’s final disappearance, and suddenly his mouth curves into a slight smile.

”It has been thoroughly eroded by ’humanity’. ”

He mutters to himself, then shows a posture of listening intently, as if several voices are whispering in his heart. Following this, he lightly nods, murmuring, ”Yes, it’s not over, not over yet...”

Outside the castle on the western mountain path, the mushroom cloud of explosion is about to completely dissipate, the iron-gray giant’s silhouette within the mist is becoming clearer. As the residual force of the Eye of the God gradually dissipates, that figure begins to rapidly emit an aura capable of driving mortal minds to madness, as if merely looking in that direction, witnesses’s consciousness would plunge into complete insanity—the nearby Communication Crystal flashes violently, Palin Winterhold urgently inquiring about the next course of action. Nearby peaks above the Bitter Winter Fortress Group darken, and after multiple releases of Annihilation Seed, magical surges destroyed the magic power paths on the defense line. Rosetta Augustus quietly watches all this, finally turning towards the Communication Crystal beside him.

”Palin,” he said calmly, ”Plan No. 2, reverse all polarities of the Winterhold magic well—then lead everyone in evacuation. After polarity reversal, you have one hundred and twenty seconds to leave.”

”Your Majesty? What about you?! The plan stated...”

”Someone must take responsibility for certain matters—also, the aura of the Eye of the God remains on me. I must stay here and ’pin’ the target firmly.”

Before Rosetta’s words fell, an angry and chaotic battle roar suddenly emanated from the cloud floating on the western mountain path, murky and mad red light brightened within the deep mist like an ’eye’, staring intently at the Hall of Mysteries—even mortal minds are crushed under its oppressive force, radiating untamed across the battlefield.

”Proceed, you have no time to hesitate.”

”Yes, Your Maj...” a voice from Count Winterhold came through the Communication Crystal, only a few syllables before a sudden exclamation erupted, ”Wait! What’s happening! Spider web... how there is a spid... Alert! Unknown intrusion, all...”

The opposite of the crystal seemingly erupted in great chaos, after a series of astonishments and strange noise, communications abruptly went silent, a trace of astonishment finally appeared on Rosetta’s face. Before he could inquire about the opposite situation, an indescribable ’feeling’ suddenly descended from nowhere, sweeping over his mind—that was an ’experience’ language couldn’t accurately describe, as if some vast, amicable, soothing and calming thinking ’field’ made non-physical contact with his mind. Driven by instinct, he raised his head, looking towards the window of the Hall of Mysteries, and the scene outside entered his vision:

Three strangely shaped flying machines descended from high altitude, those machines resembling the ’Dragon Cavalry’ built by the Cecil Clan, yet differing in details. They lacked dragon wing-like wingboards, with shimmering waves within the hemispherical canopy at top resembling fluid storage, where large pale powdery entities slightly writhed.

Around each flying machine, a dozen soldiers clad in light armors with metallic filaments floating behind their heads drift in the air. These soldiers have their eyes entirely covered by metallic masks, surrounded by a constant magic power fluctuation, where some secret connection seems to affect these soldiers and three flying machines, forming an incredible ’synchronization’ as if bloodline or nerves connect them in Rosetta’s eyes.

Is this... another card of the Cecil Clan!?

Such thoughts flashed through Rosetta’s mind instantly. He then perceives the divine contamination emanated from the iron-gray giant being quickly suppressed, feeling again that mental soothing and ’contact’, like an invisible mind field dispersing continuously from the three flying machines and dozens of soldiers, jointly counteracting the gods’ mental disturbance.

Evidently, the iron-gray giant felt this sudden threat too, instantly responding even amidst madness—rusty steam gushed from broken armor surface, a giant bow shaped within its palms, brewing potent counterattacks. However, before force gathered successfully, a long illusionary limb appeared suddenly in the air, sweeping across collecting masses of webs quickly climbing the giant’s arms and body, even over steam and spreading lava and death scorch marks below its feet.

The three flying machines and dozens of floating soldiers surrounded in a triangle, within coverage countless webs layer upon layer surged, eventually crawling from armor crevices of the giant—the latter struggled vehemently, exuding power shaking mountainous terrains, yet in this battle the severely weakened god fell disadvantageously for the first time—ultimately enfolded entirely by webs, above whom in cloud layers, a giant white spider almost as large began condensing in air.

Standing before the floor-to-ceiling window in the Hall of Mysteries, Rosetta instinctively raised his head facing the giant spider hovering in the clouds, feeling a gentle gaze fell upon him—even though the white spider seemingly held no eyes, he believed he truly felt gaze.

The next second, the gaze moved away, the white spider lowering its head, peering at the iron-gray giant enveloped in webs, then began drawing her long limbs as if a predator dragging prey, lifting invisible lines in air. Webs gradually lift, the iron-gray giant finally raised from ground, ascending mid-air, and surpassing the highest Mage towers of Bitter Winter Castle, suspended high in sky—

Rosetta squinted his eyes, the next moment he noticed a trace of white light appeared northeastward sky, suddenly expanding, brightening, then transforming into a stream of light traversing heaven, sweeping near the iron-gray giant.

Only now, a deep humming noise from high altitude sounded, mixed with sharp noises grating teeth and ears.

Typhon Soldiers fighting on this frontline since winter weren’t strangers to similar sounds, instantly associating to the Cecil Clan’s potent arcane focusing weapon—Rainbow Light. However, the ’Rainbow Light’ appearing over Bitter Winter Fortress far exceeded scales seen on battlefields, surpassing armored train Rainbow Light main cannon’s caliber, even those giant cannon calibers stationed on immovable fortresses... that had become a true stream of light.

Rosetta instantly stared at the emission direction of that light beam, briefly stunned, realizing where it was—sea!

Eastern sea area over twenty kilometers away! These vast weapons couldn’t hide within mountain chains behind Bitter Winter, only possible was past those mountains towards sea!

A complete ”blind spot,” a direction that traditional combat thinking wouldn’t consider at all; no one would treat the eastern sea twenty kilometers away as part of this battlefield. However... the Cecil Clan apparently thinks otherwise.

...

Outside the land, amidst the eastern sea area of the Winterhold front line, a large ironclad ship floats on the calm sea surface.

Magic Energy Wingboard unfold from both sides of the ironclad ship like wings. The surface of the immense wingboard glows with magic symbols, while the cooling devices on the sides and rear of the ship hum, enormous amounts of seawater continuously being pumped into the hull, soon transforming into steam that sprays across the sea surface.

At the front of the ship, towering on the vast deck, stands the largest Rainbow Light Main Cannon to date. Its arcane reflective shell shines with metallic brilliance under the sunlight, while bright blue energy fire leaps between the crystals and magic circles within the reflective shell.

”First shot missed the target!” A soldier wearing a blue combat suit shouted loudly within the bridge at the ship’s center, ”Nariteer has sent calibration data!”

Byron, draped in the Marshal of the Navy cloak, stood on the elevated captain’s seat, eyes fixed on the real-time images sent back from the front lines, biting hard on the pipe in his mouth: ”Fire another X round! Don’t waste the chance the front has fought so hard for us—so long as the power spine hasn’t exploded, keep firing! Winter can hold its ground in this battle!”

”Yes, sir!”

Byron, with the pipe, propped both hands against the captain’s seat railing. His eyes, bloodshot from days without proper rest, burned with a fiery glow.

Commanding the newly tested main ironclad ship ”Winter” from Northport, maneuvering around the Sacred Dragon Kingdom’s promontory and curved coastline, bypassing the Dragon Summoning Gulf of Cecil’s east, dodging the reef zone and coastal sentinels of Typhon’s East Coast, ultimately reaching the designated sea region capable of directly attacking Winterhold, this was a challenging voyage, but it was worth it.

Only such a massive maritime platform can tow the largest Rainbow Light Main Cannon in history over such long distances, and only the robust and reliable ocean coolers can meet this giant’s cooling demands.

Now it’s time to use this cannon’s righteousness to bring an end to everything.

Striking targets on land tens of kilometers away from the distant sea—whether a stationary target or not—is exceedingly challenging, even if the Rainbow Light Main Cannon has such range, human aiming can hardly achieve such precision. However, the former ”Supreme Narrator” conducting calibration calculations and terminal adjustment guidance made this feat possible.

Initial miss is just normal, it’s nothing to concern over, for the ”Winter,” everything has only just begun.

...

When the massive beam pierced the sky from afar for the third time, the iron-gray giant finally ended all its struggles.

The cascade of light surged forth, cleansing the hollow armor, and the ”divine body” on the brink of disintegration suddenly filled with countless white lines, the pale brilliance erupted internally and externally. This process lasted about two to three seconds—this was a god’s last stand before the collective strength of mortals, then, the mountain-like body was finally pierced, its armor shattered in all directions, the pure energy beam penetrated the body, dissipating into the empty sky.

A massive explosion occurred above Winterhold’s peak, countless fragments poured down like torrential rain. In the glow of dusk, nearly the whole Winterhold Area could witness the aftermath of this explosion: fragments streaked across the sky like meteor showers, fiery air waves formed ring-shaped shockwaves, expanding layer by layer in the sky, all clouds pushed from their original positions, and the winds stirred across the plains and hills.

At this moment, everyone witnessing this felt a tremendous ”thought” was about to descend upon them, yet just before they could fully experience this sensation, it vanished like a fleeting dream.

...

A true god had fallen.

Fallen in the prime material world, fallen in a frontal war with mortals.

This is the largest ”variable” the world has witnessed since the Voyager departed.

In distant Talronde, high above the clouds in the Upper Layer of the royal temple, Enya suddenly squinted her eyes, a sharp gaze seemingly uncontrollably directed towards the Loren Continent.

Above Talronde, in the real dimension unseen by mortals, the immense and unparalleled Dragon of Chaos that enveloped the entire Dragon Kingdom also suddenly shifted, countless sinister eyes on its pulsating body surface simultaneously turned, each directing their gaze towards Loren Continent’s direction.

In the brief time span of two breaths, all the ”goddess” of the Dragonkin were drawn to this world-shaking ”variable,” regardless of whether they wished it, regardless of whether they could control it, as the gods of Talronde, they slipped into a brief loss of control because another god had fallen at mortal hands. Accompanied by all those countless eyes of the Dragon of Chaos turning toward Loren Continent, an unprecedented incident occurred:

For the first time in over one million years, Talronde completely vanished from the Dragon God’s sight.

At the Supreme Council Headquarters, Hall of the Mind Throne, the Dragonkin Speaker Andar sharply lifted his head. Light flowed through the countless cables and tubes connecting him, a roar-like voice burst from the old Dragonkin’s throat:

”Authorization command—Coming-of-age ceremony.

”Omega, you are free!!”
