Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1042: Chapter 1043: Call from a Stranger

After Cheng Su woke up, she didn’t mention the matter again, and since she didn’t bring it up, Qi Taiguo also pretended nothing happened and didn’t mention it.

But Cheng Su said she plans to visit Guangcheng in a few days.

Qi Taiguo was taken aback and put down his chopsticks, ”Go to Guangcheng?” What was she suddenly going there for, was it related to her previous loss of composure?

Cheng Su nodded, her gaze earnest.

Seeing her look, Qi Taiguo knew that she had already decided to go and would not change her mind.

”May I ask why you’re going to Guangcheng?” Qi Taiguo hesitated for a moment before asking.

”I need to go there to confirm something.”

”Do you want me to accompany you? Guangcheng is too far from here, I don’t feel comfortable with you going alone,” Qi Taiguo asked again.

Cheng Su thought for a moment and shook her head, saying, ”No need, I can go by myself, it’s not convenient for you to leave frequently because you’re in the army. Besides, Guangcheng is a developed big city, nothing will happen.” Seeing his forlorn look, she added, ”How about I tell you when I get back?”

Qi Taiguo smiled, nodded, and said, ”Then when are you planning to go?”

Cheng Su thought about it; it’s mid-March now, and there are still more than half a month until the day she was abandoned, so she said, ”No hurry, I’ll go at the end of the month.”

Qi Taiguo responded with an ”Oh.”

The two continued eating, and the room door was knocked on. Qi Taiguo went to open it; it was the communications officer, there was an emergency assembly.

Qi Taiguo immediately picked up his military cap and said a word to Cheng Su before heading out.

Who knows what task it is this time!

Cheng Su silently picked up her bowl, thinking about the trip to Guangcheng; she needs to plan in advance as transportation isn’t as developed as in the 21st century, it can’t be done at once, and she has to check if that orphanage is really there and how to get there conveniently.

Ring ring.

While she was deep in thought, the home phone rang.

Cheng Su walked over to answer it, ”Hello!”

There was no sound from the receiver, Cheng Su hesitated for a moment and asked again, ”Hello, who is this?”

Still no sound, Cheng Su found it a bit strange and was about to hang up, but then came a cough, it was a woman.

”...Excuse me, is Commander Qi there?”

Looking for Qi Taiguo? And it’s a woman.

Cheng Su immediately perked up as if she had been injected with adrenaline.

”He just went to the army. May I know who this is and what you need him for?” Cheng Su asked.

This was the first time a strange woman called looking for Qi Taiguo, who was she?

”I see, then it’s nothing.”

Feeling that the caller was about to hang up, Cheng Su hurriedly stopped her, saying, ”Who is this? I’m his wife, can you leave a name and number, and when he gets back, I’ll have him call you back!”

”No need, goodbye!” The woman seemed hesitant but still hung up.

”Hello, hello.”

What came through to Cheng Su was the busy signal of the phone.

The person hung up, and Cheng Su clutched the phone, lost in thought for a moment before hanging it up. What was this?

Who on earth was that, not saying who she was, was it because she answered the phone?

Was Qi Taiguo really hiding something from her?

Cheng Su puffed up her cheeks and huffed. ”You, just wait till you get back. I didn’t question you before because I trust you, but now people are calling, and they’re afraid to leave a name. If there’s anything fishy, you’re dead meat!”

Cheng Su was waiting for Qi Taiguo to return for interrogation, but he didn’t come back; instead, the communications officer did.

Qi Taiguo went for a sudden mission!
