The Villian Who Broke The Story

The Virtual Simulation Room fell silent.

The arena that had witnessed Kael’s effortless victories over the lower-ranked students slowly reconstructed itself. Cracked stone fused together, shattered pillars rose once more, and the dust left behind by dozens of battles vanished as though nothing had ever happened.

Kael stood quietly at the center of the arena.

The sixfold gravity still pressed against his body.

The restraints around his wrists and ankles remained firmly in place.

Yet neither of them affected him anymore.

A week ago, these same conditions would have forced every muscle in his body to work overtime.

Now...

They simply felt natural.

Kael flexed his fingers around the hilt of his sword before exhaling slowly.

”...Feels like home.”

A mechanical voice echoed across the battlefield.

『Preparing Opponent... Rank 4.』

A pillar of light descended onto the arena.

Out of it stepped a short, broad-shouldered man carrying a massive warhammer over one shoulder.

His beard was neatly braided, bound together by iron rings. Thick muscles bulged beneath his leather armor, and countless scars decorated his exposed forearms. Every step he took carried surprising weight despite his height.

The dwarf.

The first opponent that had ever stopped Kael’s relentless climb through the rankings.

Back then...

Kael had challenged him over a hundred times before earning a single victory.

The dwarf rested the hammer against the ground with a dull thud.

His sharp eyes met Kael’s.

”...You’ve changed.”

Kael smiled faintly.

”So have you.”

The countdown appeared overhead.

Three...

The dwarf adjusted his grip on the hammer.

Two...

Kael slowly unsheathed his sword.

The familiar sound of steel sliding free filled the arena.

One...

『Begin.』

Neither of them rushed.

Instead, both warriors walked toward each other.

One step.

Another.

The distance shrank.

Then—

Both disappeared simultaneously.

BOOM!

Sword and hammer collided in the middle of the arena.

A violent shockwave burst outward, tearing apart the stone beneath their feet.

Inside the observation room, several operators instinctively grabbed onto nearby consoles.

”What the—”

”They’re equal!”

”They didn’t move!”

Raphael narrowed his eyes.

”...Interesting.”

Neither Kael nor the dwarf had taken a single step backward.

Their weapons remained locked together.

The dwarf grinned.

”So you’ve finally caught up.”

Kael’s lips curled into a smile.

”I’ve been looking forward to proving it.”

With a burst of strength, both pushed at the same time.

Their weapons separated.

Instead of retreating, they immediately attacked again.

The dwarf’s hammer swept across the battlefield like a collapsing mountain.

Kael’s sword flashed.

Clang!

Another explosion of force erupted.

Again.

Neither gave ground.

The dwarf swung vertically.

Kael intercepted it.

The hammer changed direction halfway through its arc, flowing naturally into another attack.

Kael’s sword followed without hesitation.

The exchange continued seamlessly.

Steel rang through the arena again and again.

No wasted movement.

No unnecessary flourishes.

Two masters testing one another.

Lyra folded her arms as she watched through the observation crystal.

”Notice something?”

Zion, who had arrived midway through the simulation, didn’t take his eyes off the fight.

”They aren’t trying to overpower each other.”

Raphael nodded.

”Exactly.”

”People often mistake the dwarf’s greatest strength for his physical power.”

”It isn’t.”

”It’s his control.”

”Every swing naturally transitions into the next.”

”Every attack is already setting up the one after it.”

”And Kael...”

Raphael smiled.

”...has finally learned to fight the same way.”

Back inside the arena—

The dwarf suddenly accelerated.

His hammer spun once before crashing toward Kael’s ribs.

Kael stepped forward instead of backward.

His shoulder slipped just outside the hammer’s path.

The weapon barely missed him.

His sword answered immediately.

The dwarf twisted his body.

The blade skimmed across his armor, leaving behind a shallow scratch.

Neither expression changed.

Both had expected that outcome.

The dwarf chuckled.

”Good.”

Kael answered with another strike.

The dwarf blocked it.

Another followed.

Blocked again.

For nearly a minute...

Neither landed a decisive hit.

Every exchange ended in perfect balance.

The arena floor, however, told a different story.

Deep craters covered the battlefield.

Broken stone littered every corner.

Even the reinforced simulation walls carried fresh cracks from the repeated shockwaves.

One operator swallowed nervously.

”I’ve never seen Rank Four pushed this hard.”

Another shook his head.

”No...”

”You’ve never seen Kael fight without relying on adaptation.”

Raphael quietly agreed.

Before...

Kael adapted during battle.

Now...

He entered every fight already prepared.

The dwarf planted one foot firmly into the ground.

Mana surged through his body.

His warhammer became wrapped in a faint bronze glow.

Kael immediately recognized the stance.

”So we’re finally done warming up.”

The dwarf laughed.

”Warming up?”

”You’ve got quite the confidence.”

”I earned it.”

Without another word—

The dwarf exploded forward.

His hammer descended with enough force to flatten the arena.

Kael’s eyes sharpened.

His grip tightened around his sword.

The familiar rhythm of the Celestial Star Art flowed through his body.

His breathing slowed.

His heartbeat steadied.

Everything around him seemed to fade away except for the hammer rushing toward him.

Then—

Kael moved.

”Third Form...”

His blade traced a perfect silver arc through the air.

”...Falling Star.”

The sword met the hammer head-on.

A deafening explosion shook the entire simulation room.

The observation crystal flickered violently.

Dust swallowed both fighters whole.

Nobody inside the control room spoke.

They simply stared...

Waiting to see which of the two monsters would emerge first.

The cloud of dust slowly drifted apart.

Two figures stood at its center.

Kael remained where he had been, his sword held low at his side.

Opposite him, the dwarf rested his warhammer against one shoulder.

Neither had fallen.

Neither had yielded.

A long crack stretched between them, splitting the arena in half.

The dwarf glanced at the shallow groove carved into the head of his warhammer before looking back at Kael.

”...You’ve sharpened your sword.”

Kael smirked.

”I’d be disappointed if you were paying attention to anything else.”

The dwarf laughed—a deep, hearty laugh that echoed throughout the battlefield.

Then his expression hardened.

”Again.”

This time he disappeared first.

Unlike before, there was no explosion announcing his movement.

Only silence.

Kael closed his eyes.

For the briefest instant...

He listened.

A faint vibration.

A shift in the air.

The hammer was already behind him.

Without looking—

Kael pivoted.

His blade intercepted the strike.

CLANG!

The collision sent sparks flying into the air.

The dwarf didn’t stop.

His hammer flowed into another swing.

Then another.

Then another.

Each strike came from a different angle.

High.

Low.

Diagonal.

Horizontal.

Like crashing waves refusing to give their opponent even a heartbeat to breathe.

Kael’s sword danced.

Every block became the beginning of another movement.

Every deflection placed him exactly where he needed to be for the next attack.

The rhythm of the Celestial Star Art became clearer with every exchange.

His movements weren’t faster than the dwarf’s.

They were simply... cleaner.

Inside the observation room, Zion’s eyes narrowed.

”He’s changed.”

Lyra nodded.

”He isn’t forcing the forms anymore.”

”The forms are flowing naturally.”

Raphael smiled faintly.

”That’s the difference between learning a sword style...”

”...and understanding it.”

The dwarf suddenly shifted his footing.

Instead of another hammer strike—

He lunged forward.

His shoulder crashed toward Kael’s chest.

Kael met it head-on.

The impact shook both fighters.

Neither moved.

For a moment they simply pushed against one another.

Muscle against muscle.

Will against will.

The dwarf’s grin widened.

”So your body finally caught up.”

Kael answered by driving his shoulder forward.

The two separated simultaneously.

No advantage.

No disadvantage.

Only mutual respect.

Without warning, the dwarf planted the base of his hammer into the ground.

Mana erupted beneath his feet.

Stone pillars burst upward around Kael.

Instead of trapping him—

They became footholds.

The dwarf leaped.

His hammer descended from above like a falling mountain.

Kael’s eyes tracked every movement.

He didn’t retreat.

He stepped forward.

His sword rose.

”First Form...”

The blade flashed upward.

”...Guiding Light.”

Rather than clashing directly, Kael redirected the hammer’s trajectory by a fraction.

The massive weapon crashed harmlessly beside him instead of onto him.

Before the dwarf could recover—

Kael’s sword struck.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Fast.

Precise.

Each cut landed on the same section of armor.

Clang!

Clang!

Crack!

The steel breastplate finally split open.

A shallow cut appeared across the dwarf’s chest.

Blood slowly trickled down.

The dwarf looked at the wound.

Then laughed.

A genuine laugh.

”So that’s your plan.”

”Break the armor.”

Kael rested his sword on his shoulder.

”No.”

”I just wanted to know if I could.”

The dwarf’s eyes gleamed.

”Good answer.”

He tightened his grip.

The hammer suddenly began spinning around him.

The sheer force of each rotation generated violent gusts that tore apart nearby stone pillars.

Raphael’s expression changed.

”He finally decided to use it.”

Zion frowned.

”What is that technique?”

Lyra answered quietly.

”Stone Tempest.”

”Every swing increases its momentum.”

”If Kael blocks the attacks directly...”

”...the force will keep multiplying.”

The hammer became a blur.

One swing.

Two.

Five.

Ten.

The battlefield transformed into a storm of steel.

Kael didn’t panic.

His breathing remained steady.

His eyes calmly followed the rhythm hidden beneath the relentless assault.

Every attack had a pattern.

Every rotation left behind the smallest opening.

Tiny.

Almost impossible to notice.

But it existed.

Kael smiled.

”There you are.”

Instead of blocking—

He stepped inside the storm.

Several operators gasped.

”He’s insane!”

”He’s walking into it!”

The hammer narrowly missed his shoulder.

Another brushed past his waist.

The wind pressure alone tore his uniform in several places.

Yet Kael continued forward.

Each step perfectly timed.

Each movement barely avoiding death.

The dwarf’s grin slowly faded.

”...Impossible.”

Kael was no longer reacting.

He was reading him.

The moment he entered the dwarf’s reach—

His sword moved.

”Fifth Form...”

The battlefield seemed to freeze.

His blade disappeared beneath the spinning hammer.

”...Meteor Sever.”

A silver flash crossed the arena.

The spinning stopped instantly.

Silence fell.

The dwarf looked down.

A clean cut stretched across the wooden handle of his warhammer.

Another inch...

And Kael would have severed it completely.

The dwarf slowly lowered the weapon.

For the first time since the battle began...

His smile disappeared.

His eyes became completely serious.

Across from him—

Kael raised his sword once more.

”I think...”

”...we’re finally done testing each other.”

Silence settled over the shattered arena.

Broken pillars littered the battlefield.

Deep craters stretched in every direction.

Neither combatant had much room left to maneuver.

The dwarf slowly rolled his shoulders before resting the warhammer across his back.

”So...”

”You’ve reached this point.”

Kael tightened his grip around his sword.

”I’ve been trying to.”

The dwarf nodded.

”Then show me.”

His mana erupted.

The bronze aura surrounding his body condensed instead of expanding, becoming denser and heavier. The arena floor beneath his feet sank several inches.

The operators inside the observation room instinctively leaned forward.

”He’s serious now.”

”No...”

Raphael corrected calmly.

”Now he’s fighting to win.”

The dwarf vanished.

Unlike before, Kael couldn’t hear him.

He couldn’t sense him.

The only warning came from years of battle instincts screaming inside his head.

Left.

Kael twisted.

The warhammer skimmed past his cheek, the wind pressure alone leaving a shallow cut across his face.

Before the strike could complete its arc—

Kael stepped into the dwarf’s guard.

His sword flashed.

Clang!

The blade struck the hammer’s shaft instead of its head.

The dwarf’s wrist shifted ever so slightly.

Kael immediately followed.

One slash became three.

Three became seven.

Every strike landed at a different angle, forcing the dwarf to abandon offense for defense.

For the first time in the battle...

The mountain moved.

The dwarf slid backward.

Only a single step.

But everyone watching noticed it.

Zion’s eyes widened.

”...He pushed him back.”

Lyra smiled faintly.

”No.”

”He forced him back.”

”There’s a difference.”

The dwarf planted his foot into the ground.

The retreat stopped instantly.

A grin slowly spread across his face.

”Outstanding.”

Without another word—

He swung.

The hammer descended with terrifying force.

Kael didn’t evade.

He met it head-on.

BOOM!

Sword and hammer collided.

The shockwave exploded across the arena, pulverizing the nearest stone pillars into dust.

Both fighters remained locked together.

Neither yielded.

Neither blinked.

For several seconds...

It became a contest of nothing but raw strength.

Their muscles tensed.

The stone beneath their feet crumbled.

Cracks spread like spiderwebs across the battlefield.

Then—

Kael smiled.

”So this is everything you’ve got?”

The dwarf laughed loudly.

”Not even close!”

His muscles suddenly flexed.

Another surge of strength traveled through the hammer.

Kael felt the pressure increase.

”...There it is.”

Instead of resisting—

He relaxed.

The sudden loss of resistance caused the dwarf’s momentum to carry him forward by half a step.

Half a step...

Was all Kael needed.

He pivoted.

The hammer missed completely.

The dwarf’s balance shifted.

Kael appeared at his side.

His sword drew a brilliant silver arc.

”Fourth Form...”

The stars above seemed to shine brighter.

”...Starfall.”

Dozens of sword strikes erupted almost simultaneously.

The dwarf reacted instantly, spinning his hammer to intercept them.

Steel clashed against steel in a dazzling barrage.

Clang!

Clang!

Clang!

Sparks rained across the battlefield.

When the exchange ended—

The dwarf stood silently.

So did Kael.

Then...

Tiny cracks spread across the dwarf’s armor.

One after another.

Until the entire chest plate shattered into countless fragments.

The operators collectively gasped.

”He...”

”He broke Rank Four’s armor.”

The dwarf looked down at the ruined armor before throwing back his head and laughing.

”Hahaha!”

”Excellent!”

”Absolutely excellent!”

He pulled the damaged breastplate free and tossed it aside.

His scar-covered torso was finally exposed.

”I’ve waited years...”

”...for someone to make me do that.”

Kael slowly lowered his sword.

”I’m honored.”

The dwarf rested the hammer against his shoulder once more.

”You’ve surpassed the student who challenged me two weeks ago.”

”You’ve earned your victory.”

Before Kael could answer—

The dwarf raised his free hand.

The simulation system immediately responded.

『Rank Four Battle Complete.』

『Winner: Kael Draven.』

The dwarf’s body gradually dissolved into particles of light.

His final words echoed through the arena.

”Don’t lose...”

”...to Rank Two.”

The battlefield fell silent.

Kael stood alone among the ruins, breathing heavily.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead before looking toward the ranking board.

Rank 4 — Defeated.

The next name slowly illuminated.

Rank 3— Zion Crawford.

Kael stared at the screen for several moments before letting out a quiet chuckle.

”...Big Brother.”

”I guess it’s your turn.”

He lifted his sword and pointed it toward the newly forming pillar of light.

A fierce grin spread across his face.

”I’ve wanted this rematch for a long time.”
