Villain: Manipulating the Heroines into hating the Protagonist

Chapter 741: Saving Charlotte

Wang Jian understood that patience was key, but now it was time to take his game to the next level.

Breaking through the final barrier with Charlotte and Sarah had proven more difficult than he had anticipated.

Despite their obvious attraction to him and the growing frustration with their husbands, their family responsibilities still anchored them firmly in place.

They were powerful women, CEOs of prominent companies, and their children kept them tied to their existing lives. These factors created a nearly insurmountable wall, but Wang Jian was nothing if not persistent.

He needed to create an intense, unforgettable experience-one that would shatter their hesitations and make them lean on him completely.

That opportunity presented itself when the attacks on their companies and homes became more frequent, and both women began to fear for their safety. It was the perfect scenario for Wang Jian to make his move.

Charlotte had been his first target.

He arranged a meeting with her in her office, keeping his demeanor calm and composed as he brought up his next suggestion.

She was sitting behind her desk, looking effortlessly stunning in a fitted white blouse and a pencil skirt that clung to her curves.

Her hair was tied in a loose bun, and her glasses gave her an air of authority, but there was a softness in her eyes when she looked at Wang Jian-a softness he knew he could exploit.

”Charlotte,” he began, leaning forward slightly in his chair, ”Iʼve been thinking. These attacks are getting more dangerous, and I canʼt help but worry about your safety. What if I stay with you for a while? Be by your side, so when the next attack happens, we can catch these people in the act. Iʼll make sure youʼre safe.”

Charlotte blinked, her eyes widening slightly at the suggestion. ”Stay with me?” she repeated, her voice tinged with surprise. ”Wang, thatʼs too dangerous. I canʼt let you risk your life for me like that. What if something happens to you?”

Wang Jian smiled, his expression soft and reassuring. ”Iʼll be fine. I know how to take care of myself, and I wonʼt take unnecessary risks. Besides, youʼve done so much for me- I canʼt just stand by and let you face this danger alone.”

Charlotte bit her lip, clearly torn between her concern for his safety and the growing danger she was in. ”I donʼt know, Wang. What if things go wrong? I couldnʼt forgive myself if you got hurt.”

He stood up and walked around the desk, gently pulling her into a hug. She stiffened at first, then relaxed into his embrace, her cheek resting against his chest. ”You donʼt have to worry about me,” he whispered softly. ”Iʼm not asking you to put me in harmʼs way. I just want to be there for you, to protect you. Please, let me do this.”

Charlotte sighed softly, her hands gripping the fabric of his shirt for a moment before she pulled away, looking up at him with a mixture of gratitude and resignation. ”Okay,” she murmured, ”but you have to promise me that you wonʼt do anything reckless. Stay close to me, and donʼt take any unnecessary risks.”

Wang Jian nodded, giving her a gentle smile. ”I promise.”

It wasnʼt long before the next attack occurred. Wang Jian had spent the day with Charlotte, pretending to be one of her bodyguards, though in truth, his focus was solely on her. They had gone about their usual business, attending meetings, reviewing documents, and discussing the future of her company. All the while, Wang Jian couldnʼt help but tease her lightly- nothing too overt, just enough to keep her on edge.

”You know,” he had said at one point during lunch, his eyes glinting with mischief, ”you really shouldnʼt wear such tight skirts. Itʼs distracting.”

Charlotte had blushed, looking away quickly as she brushed off his comment with a laugh. ”Youʼre impossible,” she said, though he could tell she wasnʼt entirely displeased by the attention.

Later that afternoon, the attack came. They were walking through the parking garage when a group of masked men, clearly part of a gang, suddenly appeared from the shadows. The glint of assault rifles in their hands sent a jolt of alarm through Charlotte, but Wang Jian was already in motion.

He grabbed her arm, pulling her behind one of the parked cars as bullets sprayed through the air. ”Stay down!” he ordered, his voice firm as he pressed her into the ground. ”Iʼll handle

this.”

”Wang, no!” Charlotte protested, her eyes wide with fear. ”You canʼt-”

But he was already moving, his expression cold and focused. Using the cover of the cars, Wang Jian crept through the garage, his body moving with the fluid grace of a predator. His years in the other world had honed his skills, and he was a master of both martial arts and strategy.

The gang members moved in formation, their weapons trained on the area where Charlotte and Wang had been. But they werenʼt expecting someone like Wang Jian-someone who had fought battles in a much more dangerous world.

Wang Jian waited for the right moment, then sprang into action. He dashed between cars, staying low to avoid the bullets that ricocheted off the concrete. When one of the gang members got too close, Wang lunged forward, his hand a blur as he disarmed the man with a single swift movement. He twisted the manʼs arm, using his body as a shield as more bullets rained down.

One by one, Wang Jian picked off the gang members, using a combination of hand-to-hand combat and quick, intelligent tactics. He moved like a shadow, always one step ahead of his enemies. When he ran out of weapons, he used his fists, his strength far beyond what any normal person could comprehend.

At one point, a bullet grazed his arm, sending a sharp sting of pain through him. But Wang

Jian barely flinched, his mind too focused on the task at hand. He used the injury to his advantage, making the gang think they had him cornered, only to turn the tables and take them down from behind.

Within minutes, the entire gang was incapacitated, lying unconscious or groaning in pain on the ground. Wang Jian stood over them, his chest rising and falling with controlled breaths, his eyes cold and calculating.

Charlotte emerged from her hiding spot, her face pale with shock as she looked around at the scene. ”Wang,” she breathed, her voice shaky. ”How did you...?”

He wiped the blood from his knuckles and gave her a reassuring smile. ”I told you I could

handle it.”

The gang members were soon captured and taken to one of the warehouses owned by Charlotteʼs company for interrogation. But that wasnʼt what stayed on Charlotteʼs mind. It was the way Wang Jian had moved, the ease with which he had taken down nearly thirty armed men. There was something about him-something dangerous and thrilling-that sent her

heart racing.

Later that evening, after everything had calmed down, Charlotte approached Wang Jian in one of the private rooms of her companyʼs building. She looked stunning, her hair loose around her shoulders, her blouse slightly unbuttoned as she stood in the doorway.

”Wang,” she said softly, stepping into the room. ”I wanted to thank you... for everything. You saved my life.”

Wang Jian turned to face her, his eyes dark with intensity. ”You donʼt have to thank me,” he said, stepping closer. ”I told you Iʼd protect you.”

Charlotte swallowed hard, her eyes flickering to his lips for a brief moment. ”But I... I canʼt stop thinking about how you-”

Before she could finish, Wang Jian closed the distance between them, pulling her into a tight

embrace. His hands roamed over her body, feeling the curves of her figure as she gasped softly in surprise. He didnʼt go further than that, though. He simply held her, letting the tension between them build, his touch teasing her senses but leaving her wanting more.

When he finally pulled away, Charlotte was breathless, her cheeks flushed with heat. Wang Jian smiled, a dark, knowing smile that sent a shiver down her spine. ”Maybe next time,” he murmured, his voice low and seductive.

A similar scenario played out with Sarah.

Sarah had always been a cautious woman, and her feelings for Wang Jian were becoming more confusing by the day. When she learned about how he had single-handedly subdued the attackers who had targeted Charlotte, her initial reaction was one of deep concern. She had always admired Wang Jianʼs confidence and his unique ability to navigate dangerous situations, but hearing about how he had taken down an entire gang with ease left her feeling both worried and impressed.

Unable to shake her concerns, Sarah arranged to meet Wang Jian privately. She waited in her office, her mind racing with thoughts of his safety and how reckless he had been for Charlotteʼs sake. When Wang Jian finally arrived, she was seated behind her desk, her elegant figure framed by the large windows behind her.

”Wang, I heard what happened with Charlotte,” Sarah began, her voice soft but laced with

concern. ”Are you okay? I was so worried when I found out you got involved in something so

dangerous.”

Wang Jian smiled, his usual teasing glint in his eyes as he leaned against the edge of her desk, casually crossing his arms. ”You were worried about me, Sarah?” he teased lightly, his voice playful as he gazed at her. ”You know I can handle myself.”

She sighed, rubbing her temples. ”I know youʼre capable, but it doesnʼt mean you should be throwing yourself into danger like that. What if something had gone wrong?”

He reached out and touched her hand, his fingers brushing against her skin in a way that sent a shiver through her. ”Sarah, nothingʼs going to happen to me. But I canʼt just stand by and watch while you and Charlotte are being targeted. Which is why I want to stay with you for the next few days—keep an eye on things and catch whoeverʼs behind these attacks.”

Sarahʼs expression shifted immediately, her worry transforming into resistance. ”Absolutely

not,” she said firmly, shaking her head. ”I wonʼt let you put yourself at risk again. I canʼt... I canʼt have you getting hurt on my behalf.”

Wang Jianʼs smile didnʼt fade. He was prepared for her refusal. ”I wonʼt be in danger. Iʼll be with you, just as a precaution. Besides, itʼll give us more time together. Donʼt you want that?”

Sarah hesitated, her defenses cracking slightly at the thought of spending more time with him. She couldnʼt deny the pull she felt toward him, even though it terrified her. But she also knew that she couldnʼt afford to be selfish, not when her family and company were at risk.

”Wang,” she said slowly, ”I canʼt let you...”

”I promise I wonʼt do anything dangerous,” Wang Jian cut in, his voice soft but persuasive.

”Itʼs just an excuse for me to spend more time with you. Think of it as me being your bodyguard for a few days. No risks, just protection.”

Sarahʼs lips parted, and for a long moment, she was silent, clearly weighing her options. Finally, she exhaled softly and nodded. ”Fine,” she agreed, though her eyes were still clouded with worry. ”But you have to promise me you wonʼt do anything reckless.”

Wang Jianʼs grin widened as he leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper. ”I

promise.”

For the next few days, Wang Jian was by Sarahʼs side constantly. Whether she was at home, in

the office, or attending meetings, he was always there-watchful, attentive, and subtly flirtatious. He made sure to give Sarah just enough attention to keep her intrigued, teasing her in small, harmless ways that made her heart race. He was close enough to feel her presence, but never crossing the line, letting the tension between them simmer.

At home, things were a little more complicated. Sarahʼs husband, who had initially ignored

Wang Jianʼs presence, grew more suspicious as the days went on. He didnʼt like the way Wang

Jian was always around, nor the ease with which Sarah interacted with him. By the third day, his frustration boiled over.

During dinner, he slammed his fork down on the table and glared at Sarah. ”What is he still

doing here?” he demanded, his voice sharp and accusatory as he gestured toward Wang Jian, who was playing with their daughter at the other end of the room.
