Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

Xucheng, Zhuxianzhuang Science and Technology Park.

Chen Yansen picked up his phone, glanced at the caller ID, and answered the call.

”President Chen, I heard a rumor that Senlian Capital is looking to transfer its shares in Desai Battery.” Jiang Jie let out a hearty laugh, his tone cautiously probing.

”It’s not a rumor.” A slight smile touched Chen Yansen’s lips as he added, ”I am indeed considering selling my shares in Desai Battery.”

The smile vanished from Jiang Jie’s face in an instant. His heart felt as if it had been crushed by a boulder, and his mind went blank.

After all, Desai had been riding the wave of the smartphone boom for the past two years. With Orange in one hand and Apple in the other, both its revenue and stock price had been skyrocketing.

’If Chen Yansen is cashing out now, can Desai Battery hold on to its supply orders from Orange Technology?’

Jiang Jie’s brows knitted together, a tightness forming in his chest. He couldn’t help but press, ”What about the partnership between Desai and Orange Technology?”

”Don’t worry, President Jiang. For this year, at least, Orange Technology has no plans to switch suppliers.”

Chen Yansen said in a level tone.

’This year?’

’What about next year?’

Jiang Jie immediately read between the lines. Orange Technology was probably going to terminate its partnership with Desai.

He thought for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said, ”President Chen, if it’s a matter of supply price, I can knock off another five points.”

”It has nothing to do with the price,” Chen Yansen replied crisply.

”Alright, President Chen. I understand.” Jiang Jie’s face fell. He didn’t press the issue further, forcing a few pleasantries before taking the initiative to end the call.

Chen Yansen casually tossed his phone to the side of the desk, immediately putting the matter of Desai Battery out of his mind.

Although the Deep Blue Battery had overcome issues like the shuttle effect, lithium dendrite formation, and short cycle life, its manufacturing process was more complex and its costs were higher. This was due to the need for high-purity carbon nanotubes, graphene, and metal-organic frameworks.

To achieve large-scale commercialization, further optimization of the solid-state electrolyte’s component ratio was necessary, as was the development of a more effective technical solution to prevent capacity decay.

Furthermore, excessively high energy density could lead to reduced thermal stability in the battery, creating safety risks such as overheating and fires.

However, the first version of the design was merely meant to test the waters and gauge the reaction of markets both at home and abroad.

A more refined version of the technology would naturally be held back until the opportune moment for its release.

Three days later, the patent association in Yanjing received a request, a description, a list of claims, and other related materials submitted by Ding Houmeng.

’A high-density lithium-sulfur battery?’

’Deep Blue Battery?’

’An energy density of 600 watt-hours per kilogram!’

The staff member in charge of the preliminary review was taken aback for a moment but quickly regained his composure.

It wasn’t that the 600 Wh/kg figure wasn’t shocking. It was just that he was experienced and had long grown accustomed to seeing patents that were all style and no substance.

Regarding lithium-sulfur batteries, the Huake Science Association’s Bin City Institute of Physical Chemistry had already produced research results last year. Their battery also reached an energy density of 420 watt-hours per kilogram, but this figure was measured under constant 25-degree Celsius temperatures and at a low discharge rate.

Once switched to low-temperature conditions, the battery’s performance would decay significantly, and during high-rate discharge, its internal resistance would increase sharply, causing the actual energy output to be far lower than the theoretical value.

Furthermore, the safety hazards of the metallic lithium anode, the rapid capacity decay caused by the shuttle effect, and the poor conductivity of sulfur itself were all major obstacles preventing the commercialization and mass production of lithium-sulfur batteries.

Therefore, after confirming that Senlian Capital’s patent and the one from the Bin City Institute of Physical Chemistry seemed similar on the surface but were in fact vastly different, the preliminary reviewer advanced the process to the next stage.

It wasn’t until the substantive examination phase that the patent association noticed what was unusual about the Deep Blue Battery: its use of an MOF separator preparation process, self-healing electrolyte microcapsules, and a laser etching method for its three-dimensional electrode successfully solved the problems of the shuttle effect, lithium dendrite formation, and short cycle life in lithium-sulfur batteries.

Although the costs of high-purity carbon nanotubes, graphene, and metal-organic frameworks were high, the low cost of sulfides meant that, when calculated together, the overall cost was roughly on par with that of conventional lithium-ion batteries.

Even if the energy utilization rate was only 60% to 70% due to limitations from different scenarios, operating conditions, and battery states, a 60% rate still meant an energy density of 400 watt-hours per kilogram—far exceeding the 150 to 200 Wh/kg level of batteries currently on the market.

In other words, for the same volume, the battery capacity was more than doubled.

This meant that for a cell phone, battery life could be extended from one day to more than two days.

For a laptop, it could increase from 8 hours to 20 hours.

For a B1 smart band, the battery life could reach up to two weeks.

And fields like electric vehicles, drones, and energy storage would all undergo earth-shattering changes as a result.

”Report this immediately! This already qualifies as sensitive civilian technology!”

The head of the patent association made the decision on the spot.

At the same time, several chief scientists from the Huake Association Institute of Physical Chemistry were summoned to a meeting to jointly review the practicality of the Deep Blue Battery.

”Lithium-sulfur batteries? Has Chen Jian from the Bin City Institute of Physical Chemistry made a breakthrough?”

”It’s Senlian Capital? Not the Bin City Institute of Physical Chemistry!”

”A three-dimensional stacked electrode technology? Based on a nanoporous aluminum current collector and a vertical carbon nanotube array, used to reduce battery volume?”

”And microcapsules made from a thermo-responsive polymer?”

Each of the top figures in the scientific community held a copy of the documents, murmuring with a mixture of doubt and astonishment as they read.

”The reasoning, logic, and potential feasibility are all sound. But without verification of the data’s authenticity and reproducibility, no one can say for sure if this patent is reliable. I suggest we make a trip to Shencheng City to replicate the experimental results.”
