Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

On January 4th, news that Orange Mobile Phone had topped Hua Country’s phone shipment charts sparked heated discussions. The staggering sales figure of 50.1 million units globally left everyone dumbfounded.

After all, Orange Technology had been established for less than two years, all told.

In 2012, Hua Country’s total mobile phone shipments reached 370 million units (230 million of which were smartphones). Trailing behind Orange Mobile Phone were Mountain Star, Lenovo, Apple, ZTE, and Huawei.

In other words, for every eight mobile phones sold last year, one was an Orange. For every five smartphones sold, one was an Orange Mobile Phone.

In an instant, keywords like ’Orange Mobile Phone,’ ’Chen Yansen,’ ’Hua Country’s Number One,’ and ’50.1 Million Units’ shot to the top of news headlines on all major web portals.

An hour later, CCTV dedicated a three-minute segment to a brief report on Orange Technology, also mentioning that the Huake Science Association had purchased the license for the Orange Z1 instruction set architecture.

As a loyal partner of Senlian Capital, Penguin News posted a prominent banner on its homepage: ”Solidifying Its Top Spot in Hua Country! Orange Mobile Phone’s 2012 Global Shipments Break 50 Million Units!”

NetEase’s headline read: ”After Reading the IHS iSuppli Research Report, We Realized Last Year’s Orange Was a God of War, Slaying Mountain Star and Annihilating Apple!”

After finishing the year-end review meeting with Zhou Shouzhi and the others, Chen Yansen glanced at the trending news and shook his head with a smile.

He was more focused on the data released by Gartner: global mobile phone shipments last year totaled 1.74 billion units. Mountain Star was far ahead with 380 million units, followed by Nokia with 330 million, Apple with 130 million, ZTE with 67 million, and LG with 58 million.

Orange Mobile Phone ranked sixth with 50 million units, followed by Huawei, Blackberry, Motorola, and TCL (which relied mainly on Alcatel phone sales).

”Boss, the production teams for CCTV’s *Everyone* and *Dialogue* have sent invitation letters. And Lizhi TV’s *Winning in Hua Country* would like you to be a startup mentor.”

Chen Yansen had just returned to his office when Ye Qiuping hurried after him.

In reality, talk shows from Luzhou, Jinling, Hu City, and other places had also called, but Ye Qiuping felt their reach wasn’t broad enough and politely declined them all, leaving only the three most influential programs.

The former had the backing of CCTV, while the latter’s list of mentors included industry tycoons like Ma Liyun, Liu Chengzhi, and Wang Shi.

While Chen Yansen’s net worth and industry influence were certainly impressive, in the eyes of most, he was still just that twenty-year-old business prodigy.

But the actual financial power he wielded was in no way inferior to the three giants of BAT.

In an era when television media still held influence, many entrepreneurs viewed talk shows and startup programs as important promotional platforms for their companies and products.

This win-win model would be beneficial to Orange Technology and even Senlian Capital, which was why Ye Qiuping had made a point to report it.

”Get in touch with Wang Xueting and have her help me recruit a secretary. Brains come first, body and looks come second.”

Chen Yansen ordered, leaning back in his executive chair and looking at Ye Qiuping.

”Male or female?” Ye Qiuping asked tentatively.

”What do you think?” Chen Yansen retorted.

Ye Qiuping gave an awkward laugh and continued, ”Once the recording dates for these three shows are confirmed, I’ll add them to your schedule. Boss, actually, I could be your secretary too.”

”You? No way.” Chen Yansen rejected her flatly.

”Why?” Ye Qiuping’s brow furrowed slightly, a defiant look on her face.

With her abilities, she managed the entire brand department of Orange Technology in perfect order; being a secretary would naturally be a piece of cake.

”You’re too old. You’re already twenty-nine. What kind of boss uses a secretary that old?”

Chen Yansen said, raising an eyebrow in a playful, mocking tone.

’Too old? Already twenty-nine?’

Ye Qiuping froze for a moment. Her chest heaved, and her bright, dewy eyes instantly filled with rage.

’How am I old?’

’Next time I’m mixing rat poison into your sweet soup. I’ll poison you, you bastard!’

”Looking at your expression, you’re not actually thinking of poisoning me with rat poison, are you?” President Chen grinned, staring at Ye Qiuping as he questioned her.

”No, no, how would I dare? Besides, I couldn’t bear to poison you.”

Ye Qiuping blinked, putting on a fawning expression as she explained in a soft, gentle voice.

”You can go now.” Having finished teasing Ye Qiuping, Chen Yansen waved his hand in satisfaction.

’That damn man!’

Ye Qiuping cursed him silently in her head.

But she hadn’t been lying. She even dreamed about a boss like Chen Yansen—so young, rich, handsome, and capable.

Even though she was always overshadowed by Chen Yansen’s brilliance and ended up on the losing end of their interactions, Master Ye actually enjoyed it!

After Ye Qiuping left, Chen Yansen had the administration department book a banquet hall at the Sky Garden for that evening’s dinner party.

As the afterglow of sunset faded and dusk settled in, the group split into more than a dozen luxury cars and headed grandly toward the city center.

A Mercedes MPV was positioned at both the front and rear of the convoy, filled with the company’s security personnel.

Chen Yansen wasn’t particularly afraid of any unexpected danger; the security was mainly arranged for Cao Dahua, Liao Wei, Huang Zheng, and the others.

These three were ’ruthless characters.’ One drove down labor costs, another drove down sales prices, and the third squeezed merchants. The number of crooked businessmen they had driven to bankruptcy was immense. The line of people who wanted them dead could probably stretch from the East Gate of Xuyuan to Wangfujing in Yanjing.

It was better to be safe than sorry. Safety first!

「Meanwhile.」

The news about Orange Mobile Phone’s annual shipment volume continued to gain traction, quickly dominating the headlines of major websites. Any report even remotely related to Orange Technology would rack up over a hundred thousand clicks, comments, and shares in a short amount of time.

After learning that Orange Mobile Phone had climbed to sixth place on the global phone shipment rankings, Lei Yijun felt an even deeper sense of inferiority.
