Stronger by Paying Salaries and I Have 1 Billion Employees

Chapter 56: Chapter 55: Loophole, Risk Control Crisis

”Teacher Liu, I never expected the person Director Cao recommended would be you. Welcome!”

Chen Yansen stepped forward with a smile.

”Huh? Teacher Liu, from what Chen Tongxue is saying, it sounds like you two already know each other?”

Cao Dahua asked, a look of confusion on his face.

”Chen Tongxue is my tenant,” Liu Muyan said, a little embarrassed as she adjusted her glasses.

The faculty apartments were subsidized housing provided by the school for young teachers, and subletting was explicitly forbidden. However, many teachers did it privately.

In the end, the school could only turn a blind eye.

It wasn’t something one could boast about, which was why Liu Muyan had lowered her voice to explain.

Hearing this, Cao Dahua turned his head, pretending he hadn’t heard clearly.

”Teacher Liu, this way, please.”

Chen Yansen smiled faintly and led the two of them toward Room 206.

As she walked, Liu Muyan took note of her surroundings. Although Chen Yansen was just a freshman, his reputation at Xucheng Academy was even greater than that of many of the professors.

”Teacher Liu, here are the copies of Senhai’s business license and tax registration certificate. I’ll have Hu Yun send FoxTao’s business data to your email later. The upcoming tax filing and payment work will be in your hands.”

Chen Yansen took a folder from the drawer and said seriously.

”Don’t worry, Chen... I should probably call you President Chen,” Liu Muyan said with a slight smile as she took the documents.

This part-time finance job was, in name, to assist a student with an entrepreneurial project. But Principal Tang couldn’t just force a teacher to work for Chen Yansen for free, so there was compensation involved. Thus, it was reasonable for Liu Muyan to address him that way.

Furthermore, Chen Yansen was wearing a neat indigo shirt and black dress pants. Judging by their attire alone, he looked mature and capable, while the baby-faced Liu Muyan looked more like his student.

”How about this? From now on, let’s drop the formalities. You call me Brother Sen, and I’ll call you Sister Mu Yan.”

Chen Yansen teased with a straight face.

”In your dreams! Don’t forget, I’m your teacher!”

Liu Muyan couldn’t help but laugh, covering her mouth as she spoke softly.

”Alright then, Sister Mu Yan, you can look over the materials here for a bit. I have to go to a meeting.”

Chen Yansen pulled out a chair for her and instructed.

Liu Muyan nodded and immediately began flipping through the stack of documents, sorting through them as she read.

After seeing Cao Dahua out, Chen Yansen turned and went into Room 208. He knocked on Wang Zihao’s desk and asked, ”Which set of creative assets are we using today?”

”Brother Sen, yesterday’s ad data is out. Among the three sets of assets—A, B, and C—Set B has the highest registration rate, and Set C has the highest retention rate.” Wang Zihao stared at the data, reporting each point with a troubled expression.

Chen Yansen glanced down at the data. After a moment of thought, he said to Wang Zihao, ”Pause Set A for now. Today, keep running Sets B and C, and split the traffic 50/50 between them. We’ll refine further once the new data comes in.”

”Okay. I’ll connect with Senior Sister Song this afternoon and see if we can create a new, more eye-catching set of ad assets,” Wang Zihao responded.

Chen Yansen nodded in agreement. Just as he was about to leave, Wang Zihao grabbed his arm and asked, ”That senior sister in 206 is really pretty. What department is she in?”

’A senior sister?’

’Where?’

Chen Yansen froze. Following Wang Zihao’s gaze, he saw Liu Muyan leaning over the desk. Her figure was curvaceous, and she wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. Her side profile looked both innocent and cute.

An idea sparked in his mind. Suppressing a mischievous grin, he said, ”A senior from the ’08 Financial Management program. Not bad, right?”

”She’s got that whole ’baby face, huge rack’ thing going on, hehe. Brother Sen, I think I’m in love,” Wang Zihao said with a wide grin.

”That’s not love. You’re just lusting after her body, you degenerate!” Chen Yansen narrowed his eyes, looking at Wang Zihao with utter contempt.

”Duh! What do you fall for at first sight, if not their body? Their soul?”

Wang Zihao retorted shamelessly.

”If you like her, then go after her. What’s the damn point of telling me? Don’t tell me you don’t even have the guts to ask for her number?”

Chen Yansen shot him a sidelong glance, his tone dismissive as he deliberately goaded him.

”Tch—who says I don’t dare!” Wang Zihao shot up from his seat and stomped out menacingly.

After a few months of training—from hawking goods at outdoor markets to dealing with dozens of secondary agents for campus cards—he had long since become fearless.

Chen Yansen leaned against the desk with a smile on his face, just waiting for the show to begin.

But as soon as Wang Zihao walked out of Room 208, his imposing aura instantly deflated. Gazing at Liu Muyan’s face, he hesitated, growing awkward. How should he even say hello?

’Hi, miss. I’m Wang Zihao from the ’10 E-commerce program. Can I get to know you?’

’No, no, that’s too stiff.’

’Hello, Senior Sister. I’m the head of the ad team at FoxTao. Do you have a boyfriend?’

’No, no, that’s way too direct.’

’Hey beautiful, my name is Wang Zihao. Can I borrow your phone for a sec?’

’And then save my number in it? Isn’t that move a bit too old-school?’

Wang Zihao suddenly stopped in his tracks. He was about to turn back and ask Chen Yansen for help, but he caught a glimpse of his friend shaking his head. In that instant, he steeled his resolve, mustered his courage, and charged up to Liu Muyan.

”Excuse me, do you need something?”

Liu Muyan was looking over the documents when she felt a sudden gust of wind, followed by a dark shadow falling over her. She looked up at the slightly blushing Wang Zihao and asked curiously.

”Uh, uh, Mi— no, um, Senior Sister, I’m Wang Zihao from the ’10 E-commerce class. I was wondering... can I be your boyfriend?”

Wang Zihao stammered through the sentence, alternately touching his nose and scratching his chin. He had meant to ask if she had a boyfriend, but in his nervousness, he’d blurted out the wrong thing.

’The ’10 E-commerce class?’

’Wang Zihao?’

’Wants to be my boyfriend?’

’Are students these days all this bold? They won’t even spare their teachers?’

Liu Muyan’s brain seemed to short-circuit. After a long moment, she put a hand to her forehead and said with a wry smile, ”Student Wang Zihao, thank you for your... appreciation. For now, though, you can only be my student. As for what you just said, I’ll just assume you were joking.”

It was the first time Liu Muyan had ever encountered such a situation. She thought for a good while before composing her words, afraid of hurting the pride of the dark-skinned boy in front of her.

’Teacher?’

’Isn’t she a senior from the ’08 class?’

’What is going on?!’

Wang Zihao’s mouth fell slightly open. He whipped his head around to glare fiercely at Chen Yansen and saw him covering his mouth to stifle a laugh. He immediately understood he’d been tricked.

His face fell, but he still asked, unwilling to give up, ”You’re really a teacher? You don’t look like one at all. You seem even younger than my little sister.”

”Yes, I’m an accounting teacher at the School of Business. I still have work to do, so let’s talk some other time.”

Liu Muyan waved the documents in her hand, signaling that Wang Zihao could leave.

Wang Zihao said a polite goodbye, but the smile vanished the moment he turned around. He trudged back to Chen Yansen, dejected, and said irritably, ”Brother Sen, could you try acting like a decent human being for once?”

”So what if she’s a teacher? If you want to pursue her, then just do it.”

Chen Yansen sat in his chair with his legs crossed, retorting nonchalantly.

”Forget it. I don’t dare.” Wang Zihao took a deep breath, fighting the urge to beat Chen Yansen to a pulp as he spoke meekly.

”Marry a woman three years your senior, and you’ll hold a brick of gold. Marry one thirty years your senior, and she’ll give you an empire. You, my friend, are still too young.”

Chen Yansen clicked his tongue and teased with a wicked grin.

With that, he stood up, patted Wang Zihao’s shoulder, and asked, ”Do you need me to help you ask if Teacher Liu is seeing anyone?”

”Okay, fine.” Wang Zihao agonized over it for a long time before finally squeezing out the two words.

”Tsk tsk tsk, Zihao, I didn’t expect you to be just like Yang Guo, wanting to go after your own teacher.”

This time, it was Chen Yansen’s turn to be stunned. He thought he was just joking, but seeing the look on Wang Zihao’s face, it was clear he was being serious.

Wang Zihao looked confused, not understanding what Chen Yansen meant.

Chen Yansen paid him no mind and strolled leisurely into Cao Dahua’s office. He came out more than ten minutes later but didn’t rush to tell Wang Zihao what he’d found out. Instead, he headed down the stairs to the first floor.

Inside Room 111 on the left, two male students were busy sorting packages and sending out text messages one by one, notifying recipients to come pick them up at Room 111 in the Innovation Park.

”How’s business?”

Chen Yansen asked one of the students.

”Yo, Brother Sen, you’re here! Don’t even ask. We don’t even get ten outgoing packages a day. It’s all incoming deliveries. At eight mao per package, minus one mao for the text message cost, we’re barely making any money.”

Song Yang tossed down a package, plopped onto a stool, and answered dispiritedly.

”What’s the rush? You spent 5,000 yuan to secure the agency rights for four courier companies. That’s a total steal, you get me? Just wait until before the winter and summer breaks. Believe it or not, you’ll be worked to death,” Chen Yansen said with a purse of his lips.

”Brother Sen, you’re not messing with me, are you? For real?” Song Yang shot to his feet and asked, his face full of fawning eagerness.

”What do you think? The three most profitable times for a campus agency are the winter and summer breaks and graduation season. It’s like an antique shop: you can make no sales for three months, but one big sale will feed you for half a year. Just you wait!”

”By the way, FoxTao’s ’Bargain to 0 Yuan’ module is live now. You’ll have at least fifty outgoing packages a day from now on. Be careful when you pack them, and make sure there are no problems.”

Chen Yansen explained patiently before adding a special instruction.

”No problem. I’ll charge you the agent price per package. I’ve already prepared the packing boxes,” Song Yang nodded and replied.

”Just give me a discount. If you charge me the full agent price, what are you going to eat? Air from the Northwest wind?” Chen Yansen, instead of being grateful, retorted.

”Hehe, thanks, Brother Sen.” Song Yang smiled shyly. Even though he’d been rebuked, he felt a warmth in his heart.

Chen Yansen shook his head and slowly made his way back to the second floor. As soon as he walked into the office, Wang Zihao asked eagerly, ”Did you find anything out?”

”I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?”

Chen Yansen took a sip from his water cup before answering leisurely.

Wang Zihao was just about to speak when Zhuang Rui interrupted from behind him, ”Brother Sen, someone just completed the bargain task for the iPhone 4!”

Chen Yansen frowned. His first reaction wasn’t joy but a strong sense of unease. He knew how crucial risk control was for a price-slashing feature like this. For someone to complete the task so quickly, they had to be either a super-influencer with a massive network or someone who had exploited a system loophole.

”Pengfei, Hu Yun, Zhuang Rui, double-check the ID and IP for me. And re-verify their request data.”

Chen Yansen ordered urgently.
