Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?

After completing the second trial and receiving half of the inheritance, Aquarina felt her body growing stronger. Her second Divinity Spark was also developing richly, absorbing the newfound power and becoming more defined.

It seemed she might awaken something new once she surpassed the third trial. Her friends felt incredibly strong too—their auras overflowed with physical and magical might like never before. Their growth was even more exponential than Aquarina’s.

She asked her friends, “Feeling stronger?”

“Yeah, even more!” Silvia nodded, feeling the power course through her body. “Much stronger now!”

“Hmm,” Justicio nodded. “What we saw back then… I guess it makes sense. Our Ancestor is now teaching us, his descendants, all these valuable things. I wonder what the third trial is?”

“I guess if you’re feeling ready, we can just go for it,” Aquarina said. “Ooor we could take a break.”

“Nah, I’m good,” Justicio said. “He healed us anyway, and I’m not hungry yet.”

“Maybe we could eat once we’re done with the trial though,” Silvia nodded. “But yeah, I’m ready any time too!”

“Good,” Aquarina said as she and her friends walked toward the door. “Then we’re ready for anything, right? Let’s go!”

Their Spirits had mostly recovered by now. This included their Familiars—Pyuku was perched on Aquarina’s left shoulder in his small, adorable slime form, looking around curiously.

“Looks like this is it! Whatever awaits us at the end of this, let’s get to it,” he said confidently.

“Well said,” Aquarina nodded. “Let’s do this.”

They stepped forward fearlessly and pushed the door open. What lay beyond was an arena—a wide area for battle. At the center stood someone.

A man.

“Welcome to the third trial. I have decided that this will be your third and final challenge.”

He spoke with a much softer voice than before, one that sounded more human than like that of a great spirit dwelling in ancient ruins. Everyone knew it was true.

Because the man before them was none other than the great ancestor of the Everstonians himself—his musculature, his long black hair, and his sharp eyes unmistakable.

He wore leather garments wrapped around his hips and leather boots. In his hand, he carried a stone axe, crafted by binding several stones together with animal tendon and leather.

His eyes glowed with confidence as he faced the young warriors, who were stunned by his presence. He had spoken once and hated repeating himself.

“The Great Ancestor? Is that you?” Justicio gasped.

“Eh? Wait, what? What’s going on in here?” Silvia asked.

“…” Aquarina remained silent, realizing the third trial was exactly what she had feared—and what Svana had kept secret. It was likely the same trial her mother had faced.

“Yes, my descendants, it is I,” he said with a nod. “Come to the arena and greet your ancestor properly.”

The trio hurried down the stairs and entered the arena awkwardly, facing the enormous man—over three meters tall, a mountain of a figure.

“But why? I thought you were… dead?” Justicio asked.

“We thought you were like a spirit…” Silvia added.

“And that’s the truth,” the ancestor nodded. “But this Temple is a special place, created using Ancient Magic and a powerful Divine and Spiritual Formation. It allows a fragment of my original self to assume a physical body—an avatar made of magic and spirit power. Just like your spirits can materialize if they choose.”

“I see…” Aquarina muttered. “So what’s the last trial… no, let me guess. We have to fight you, right?”

The ancestor nodded calmly, smiling viciously as he gripped his axe. His brown skin took on a reddish tint as power surged from his body. His muscles flexed, steam rising from his skin as he powered up in a strange way, increasing his blood flow to an incredible degree.

“This body I’ve recreated isn’t just a mass of Mana and Spirit Power. All of my bodily functions have been fully restored!” he said. “Although I could never hope to be as strong as I once was… I’m still plenty powerful. I want you to beat me!”

“B-But that’s ridiculous!” Justicio said. “Why would we ever want to beat you down?! You’re our beloved ancestor, someone we respect!”

“Yeah!” Silvia said. “W-Why do we have to fight? If anything, I wish we could hug you…”

“Hmph! I didn’t show you those visions of the past so you’d start crying and acting like babies!” he roared. “You want a hug?! Sure! If you can beat me, I’ll give you all the hugs you want, brat! This is how we did it back then, and how we still do it! You want something? You want to prove yourself? Then come and get me and beat me in a fight!”

“…He’s not wrong,” Aquarina smiled, nodding. “What are you two even doubting? He’s not the real thing anyway, just a fragment of him. We can do this, if we work together.”

“Aquarina…” Justicio muttered, swallowing nervously.

“Okay…” Silvia stepped forward. “If Aquarina’s confident we can win, then we might as well just try our best and see how far we can go!”

“Are you sure?” Justicio asked. “I…”

The girls looked back at him, then at the old man…

No, really, this was how it was going to be.

Justicio could hardly believe it. They had gone from two trials that taught them so much to…

Fighting an old man who was supposed to be dead tens of thousands of years ago!

He still couldn’t believe things had turned out this way.

But at the same time, he knew this was it.

He nodded, stepping forward as he realized that being afraid was pointless. He had to face this head-on and move forward—with his friends.

To face the final challenge of their journey together.

The Great Ancestor grinned as he watched the three of them take their positions. His presence alone radiated pressure, like a mountain looming over them, yet there was something strangely invigorating about it. The air around the arena shimmered with heat and magic, as if the very space acknowledged the gravity of what was about to unfold.

“Now then,” he said, raising his axe and pointing it toward them. “Show me what you’ve learned. Show me the strength of my bloodline.”
