Chapter 1057: It’s… Is it dead?

“Why is it so ugly?” Arabel couldn’t resist asking. She also wanted to see in reality what she had read about in children’s fairy tales.: how the ugly duckling turned into a beautiful white swan.

But no matter how much she looked at the bird, it seemed to her that it had become even less attractive than before.

Idan didn’t know what to say.

The bird was constantly tilting its head from side to side, but its eyes were fixed on Idan’s.

Looking into it eyes, Idan felt a strange connection between them. Not like with Ned and the others he had a contract with. And more deeply, as if they were blood relatives.

Feeling the bird’s hunger through this connection, he created a small flame in his hands.

When the bird saw the flame, it looked away from it and stared at it as if mesmerized. Then, opening it beak, it swallowed the flame.

Idan and Arabel smiled at this strange sight.

But then something terrible happened.

The bird suddenly caught fire and, without showing any signs of life, collapsed to the floor.

“It’s… Is it dead?” Arabel asked, turning to Idan, who was even more astonished than she was. Thanks to the connection with the bird, he clearly felt it ecstasy at the moment when it burned down.

It wasn’t suffering, it wasn’t despair.… And the pleasure…

The burnt-out body of the bird, which had not shown signs of life for several minutes, suddenly twitched. Then the black layer of burning began to crack and disintegrate, and a still-alive and still ugly bird appeared from under it.

“What kind of creature is this?” — Arabel exclaimed, amazed at how the bird had risen from the dead for the second time in a short time.

She was sure that the bird was dead. There were no signs of life, and even no residual body reactions were observed.

Idan didn’t guess and immediately applied the {Eye of Identification}.

————————–

**Identification:**

Name: ___

Race: ???

Rank: Rank 4 (Platinum rank)

Mood: Joyful

Random information: Death is not the end. Death is power. A bird hungry for death.

————————–

“Platinum rank?”

No matter how Idan and Arabel looked at this bird, it did not give the impression of a powerful being.

They exchanged glances, not knowing how to react to this anomaly.

They were even more surprised by the random information.

“What do you mean, a bird hungry for death?” asked Arabel.

“Exactly what it says, Belle,” replied Idan. Unlike Arabel, he felt the pleasure that the bird felt at the time of its death.

From what had been written before, Idan concluded that this ugly bird couldn’t just die. Death not only brings it pleasure, but also makes it stronger.

After taking a closer look, Idan and Arabel noticed a slight change. Now, under the dirty black feathers of the bird, they saw barely smoldering lights that had not been there before.

“Okay, let’s leave her alone and watch her. We’ve got enough trouble as it is,” Idan suggested, perching the bird on his shoulder.

“I agree,” — Arabel nodded, looking from her husband to the bird. Idan was beautiful, no doubt, but here’s a bird.… its appearance left much to be desired.

Idan and Arabel, taking the ugly bird with them, left the living room through the door, ending up in the living room of their private home, where Sierra, Milica and Geminia were still watching Coco’s broadcast.

“Oh! You’re back,” all three women greeted them with smiles, as if they expected their imminent arrival.

When Arabel saw the big screen where Coco was broadcasting, and noticed the smiles of her older sister, the master, and Geminia, she felt very embarrassed, realizing that they already knew about what had happened.

“What happened in the last visit of a group of women?” asked Milica the question that worried the trio. They wanted to find out the reason why the event, organized by the World itself, was completed ahead of time.

“Let’s get everyone back to the Kingdom first,” — Idan suggested. “There’s no point in them staying there and waiting for the dungeon to open.”

The trio did not insist, and they agreed.

Immediately, through the {Whisper Talisman}, an order was sent to everyone who was at the Dungeon Gate to return to the Kingdom. The message stated that this was an order from the Leaders.

“By the way, Idan, what’s that on your shoulder?” asked Sierra, pointing to the ugly bird perched on Idan’s shoulder.

“This is Idan’s baby, which he’s been incubating on his stomach all this time,” Arabel said, laughing, remembering Esma’s joke about Idan’s pregnancy.

It was enough for Sierra and the others to realize.

Like Arabel and Idan, they couldn’t help but notice it “unusual” appearance.

Besides, Sierra was attracted by something else. She felt the subtle presence of death surrounding the bird. Although Sierra has not yet fully mastered this element, she has become more sensitive to it.

Noticing Sierra’s sincere interest in the bird and remembering her desire to understand the element of Death, Idan decided to share information about the bird with her.

“What? Are you serious?” — Sierra, Milica and Geminia were amazed by Idan’s words about the bird.

“Big Sister, I assure you, I saw it with my own eyes and I can confirm that the bird was indeed dead before it was reborn again.” Arabel confirmed Idan’s words.

Sierra’s eyes lit up, and her interest in the ugly bird increased significantly. Finally, she couldn’t contain her curiosity.:

“Hehe, do you mind if I watch this bird?”

Arabel turned to Idan, because it was, he who had brought this bird, and it was obvious that it had become attached to him.

“I don’t mind,” Idan said, picking up the bird and walking closer to Sierra.

He thought that it would be better for Sierra and birdie to be close to each other, considering that both of them are associated with the element of Death.

Picking up the bird, Sierra examined it carefully.

The ugliness of this bird did not repel her, but on the contrary, made her unique in the eyes of Sierra. The more she looked, the more she liked this unusual creature.

“Have you signed a contract with her yet?” she asked Idan.

Idan shook his head.

“Big Sister, do you want this bird?” said Arabel in surprise. She herself would never have signed a contract with this ugly bird. It seemed to her that her ugliness would stain Arabel’s soul and make her the same. And she didn’t want that at all.

“For now, I’m just curious,” Sierra replied. “But even if I wanted to, I don’t have the fourth volume of the Manual for forming the fourth Beast Soul.”

Hearing this, Idan and Arabel exchanged glances. Nodding to each other, Arabel opened the “Trade” function and purchased all the available volumes of the Manual to the Path of the Beast Tamer: the fourth, fifth and sixth.

They spent only 10,320 System Points on this.
