Di Fuyi landed the unicorn, lunged forward, and touched the ground gracefully. Many people kneeled before him.

Gu Xietian was radiating with happiness when he welcomed The Lord. For the past two days, he had been haunted by some conflicting emotions. Anyone on Earth would have to kneel and greet The Lord when he arrived. He was certainly no exception to the courtesy. However, the Lord was about to become his son-in-law. So, should he kneel as well?

He tried to ask Luo Xinglan for her opinion, but she simply answered his confusion with another question, “If our daughter is going to be married to the emperor, will you kneel before him when he comes?”

She cleared out the matter for him in a single sentence. Without a doubt, he had to kneel.

Upon seeing the emperor, even the emperor’s father-in-law had to prostrate himself three times as an act of respect. This time, it was the Lord that he was facing. Therefore, Gu Xietian immediately led the family and kneeled before The Lord when he arrived.

Di Fuyi halted his steps. “For the sake of Xijiu, you need not kneel before me from today onward.”

Gu Xietian’s eyes shone with delight. He answered instantly and led the family to rise. Then, he quickly showed Di Fuyi the way into the residence.

The four messengers followed in along with the band while they kept playing their music.

“He is here!”

“He is here!”

“He is here!”

Gu Xijiu could hear the voices clearly in her room. The chaperons did not delay anything. They quickly helped Gu Xijiu up and covered her with the red bridal veil that was complemented with fringes and delicate embroidery.

According to the marriage laws in the Feixing Kingdom, when the groom arrived to escort the bride to the wedding, the chaperons would have to lead the bride to the door and change her shoes. The bride would be presented to the groom in a long dress of red silk. The groom would hold one end, and the bride would hold the other end. The chaperons would then leave the room together towards the carriage.

The chaperons had to act according to the laws. When they finally saw Di Fuyi, most of them stood to gaze at him for a few moments, but they did not forget what they were supposed to do. Immediately, they handed the red silk to Di Fuyi and greeted him, wishing him many years of happiness in the marriage.

Di Fuyi took the red silk without hesitating. Instead of turning around, he took another huge step towards his bride. He possessed a tremendous aura that was indeed intimidating. The chaperons were frightened when he came closer, so much so that they almost fell to their knees.

Di Fuyi flicked his sleeve and signaled the two chaperons to keep some distance away from Gu Xijiu. They obliged immediately. Swiftly, Di Fuyi bent over and carried Gu Xijiu in his arms. Looking at her red veil, he could not help but smile delightfully. “Xijiu, I am carrying you.”

Gu Xijiu fell into his embrace. His arms were as welcoming as usual. Her insecurities started to fade away. All kinds of emotions started to fill her heart – heartwarming, touching, and joyful.

She knew that he was doing this for her. She told him once about the tradition in the modern days, where the groom would carry his bride in his arms from the room all the way to the car.

Di Fuyi did not say anything when she talked about it, so she did not expect that he would still remember. He proved that he did with his actions.

All the witnesses were utterly shocked.

One of the chaperons wanted to remind him that it was inappropriate to do so, but she was too afraid to. All of them only stood looking at one another.

Gu Xietian took the courage and said, “My Lord, you should hold the red silk with her. What you are doing now is rather inappropriate.”

Di Fuyi answered nonchalantly, “I decide what is appropriate.”

Gu Xietian kept quiet. He dared not speak up anymore.

What he did not realize was that The Lord’s actions had completely changed the tradition since that day. All grooms would carry their brides out of the room instead of holding the red silk.
