“Just like the astrological chart, we can oversee the world together. I can finally help you, now that I am no longer a little kid that requires your full protection,” Gu Xijiu continued.

Di Fuyi knocked her head gently to remind her. “How dare you! You are not humble at all.”

“I am just speaking the truth.” Gu Xijiu was smiling very happily.

She had been longing to be next to him and oversee the world together as one, not just a liability that required his protection all the time. She did not want that sense of inferiority. Moreover, it would be very tiring for him as well.

Now that her spiritual power was finally at level ten, she could help him in many, many ways. Being a guardian of the world must be a lonely and tiring journey. With her help, she could share the responsibility with him.

She leaned closer to him. They held hands in a tight grasp with their fingers interlocked.

As time crept on, Gu Xijiu drifted off to sleep. In his arms, she uttered in her dreams, “I can finally share the responsibility with you. You are not alone anymore. Are you happy?”

Di Fuyi was still awake. He held her close and quietly watched her sleep. His eyes never left.

He heard her. With his eyes closed and his arms tightened around her, he responeded, “Absolutely. Xijiu, I am very happy.” He planted a kiss on her forehead. “I am delighted. Therefore, I hope you can be as happy in the future.” Speaking of the future, his voice suddenly turned cold.

Fixedly, he looked at the two big bright stars in the sky. One of the stars had just emerged, so its brilliance would continue to grow for many years to come.

The other one had already been burning for tens of thousands of years. He then raised his arm to look at his fingertips for a long time.

“Fuyi,” Gu Xijiu searched for his hand in her sleep. Di Fuyi quickly took her hand and held it tightly.

She kept a firm hold on his hand, as though she had just found her anchor.

Di Fuyi was frozen momentarily, as he could sense that he was losing his spiritual power very quickly.

Luckily, he was prepared. He pulled out his hand instantaneously to perform a spell. He then put a spell on her, and a light ring of seven-colored ray instantly appeared. The light took a few turns around her. Finally, she could sleep in peace again.

Di Fuyi fastened his arms around her once again and held her hands with their fingers locked together. He closed his eyes as he thought of her.

He knew that this body of hers was already coming to an end. It was finally time for her to return to her original body. However, he was reluctant.

His spell could no longer resist the severity of her catastrophe. The power of the resisting spell grew weaker, so she would not make it any longer than three days. Three days later, there would definitely be an outbreak. She would absorb all the spiritual power of the people she encountered, turning anyone into a dried and lifeless body.

By that time, she would be seen as a monster. All her efforts to be where she was right now would be in vain.

Although she was a strong and independent woman, the punishment would still be too devastating, possibly lethal, for her to handle.

…

When Gu Xijiu woke up, she found herself on the bed in their wedding room.

Eyes closed, Di Fuyi was lying next to her. He was having a good sleep. His eyelashes were long and thick, so when he closed his eyes, his eyelashes looked like two arc-shaped paper fans, hanging loosely on his lids.

She turned around and lied on his stomach. Quietly, she watched while he was sleeping. Her heart was filled with immense joy.

In the past eight years, they had been waking up next to each other almost every morning. Thus, she became very used to his proximity. Their separation for the last month finally made her realize how heartwarming and precious it was to have him by her side.
