The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine

”I...” Sienna’s lips trembled, but she pushed herself to calm. ”I only defend myself. And... I even held myself back... I did not try to kill him...”

But whatever she said, no one believed her.

Belinda continued to give her a dagger-sharp look.

Benjamin continued groaning painfully on the floor while blood slowly stained his hand and shirt.

The terrifying scene made Sienna feel even more panicked.

’What if he truly got seriously hurt?’

’What if people believed his accusation?’

’What if... I really ended up in prison?’

The horrifying thought instantly made tears gather in her eyes.

Sienna quickly shook her head, trying to push those horrifying thoughts aside.

’I was simply protecting myself,’ she screamed in her mind, her hands clutched tightly. ’...This scum tried to force himself on me. He grabbed me and tried to kiss me.’

But despite knowing the truth, fear still consumed her completely. Because now, looking around the office, everything looked bad for her.

And the worst part was that she suddenly realized nobody here would stand by her side.

...

It all happened so quickly...

The police officer finally arrived. The chaos around her blurred, almost unreal, as if she had suddenly been thrown into somebody else’s nightmare without warning.

Benjamin lay half unconscious on the floor, blood now slowly running from his slightly opened forehead.

Employees gathered outside the office in panic, whispering among themselves while staring at her like she was some dangerous criminal.

And before Sienna could even properly breathe, before she could explain what had truly happened, the police already looked at her with suspicion written clearly across their faces.

One thing stayed firmly in her mind. ’Sienna, do not say anything without a lawyer. Do not make any statement to the official investigator...’

Her chest tightened.

She shook her head, forcing herself to remain calm.

’Calm down, Sienna... calm down... everything will be all right.’

But honestly, nothing felt all right. Not when Benjamin’s blood was still fresh on the carpet. Not when the employees kept staring at her with horrified expressions.

And definitely not when one of the police officers approached her with handcuffs in his hand.

The moment the cold metal locked around her wrists, she felt something inside her crack.

She feels humiliated and terrified.

The handcuffs felt like proof that nobody believed her.

”Miss Adams, you are required to accompany us to the police station for an official inquiry.”

Sienna slowly lifted her eyes toward the officer. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out. In the end, she only nodded weakly.

Her knees felt strangely numb as the officer guided her outside the office building.

The employees standing in the hallway immediately stepped aside. Some stared openly. Some whispered behind their hands. Some looked disgusted.

One woman even pulled her friend closer as if she might suddenly attack someone again.

Sienna lowered her head immediately, gritting her teeth hard enough to make her jaw ache. She kept her eyes on the floor until she climbed into the police car.

The ride to the station felt unbearably long.

Her mind had barely started processing the situation when the car had already stopped at the police station.

And now she was trapped inside a small interrogation room with dull gray walls and cold lighting that made everything feel lifeless.

Three hours and fifty minutes. That was how long she had been sitting there alone.

Nobody came except one officer who silently placed a bottle of water on the table before leaving again.

They refused to return her phone, no matter how many times she asked. She pleaded.

She sat quietly in the metal chair, staring at her intertwined fingers resting shakily on her thighs.

”How long will they keep me in the dark?” she muttered weakly. ”How can I ask for help if they keep my phone?”

Her chest tightened painfully the moment Benjamin’s face appeared in her mind again—The way he cornered her. The way he grabbed her wrist. The disgusting feeling of his mouth forcing against hers.

Sienna quickly shut her eyes.

”No, Sienna,” she whispered to herself. ”You didn’t try to kill him. You defended yourself.”

She repeated those words again and again like a lifeline. Because if she stopped believing that, she might completely fall apart.

Her gaze slowly lifted toward the tightly closed door again.

At this moment, she feels hunger twist painfully in her stomach. Her back ached from sitting too long, and exhaustion slowly crept into her.

She thought the police had forgotten about her.

But then a soft ”Click” came from the door, and the door suddenly opened.

Sienna immediately straightened in her seat.

A different officer walked inside this time. He looked older than the others, his expression calm but unreadable.

Hope flickered inside her chest.

”Miss Sienna Adams,” the officer said while sitting across from her.

He placed a laptop and a notebook on the table casually before finally looking at her properly.

”Sir, how long will I stay here? I’m hungry. I’m tired. I need my cell phone. I need to go home,” she blurted out quickly, unable to stop herself anymore. ”Can you just ask me now? I will explain everything—”

Her voice trailed off when the officer suddenly stared at her sharply.

”Miss Adams,” he interrupted. ”You are here because Benjamin Foster is currently in critical condition after suffering a severe head injury.”

The words hit her chest heavily. She swallowed hard.

Then, the officer opened his notebook.

”You are being questioned as the primary suspect in an attempted murder case.”

Her entire body stiffened.

”Murder?” Sienna repeated faintly. ”No... no, that’s not true.”

”Then you need to explain to us what happened.”

Sienna inhaled shakily.

For several seconds, she could barely speak. Her throat felt dry.

But eventually, she forced herself to start talking.

”I went to Benjamin Foster’s office because he asked me to come,” she explained carefully. ”At first, everything seemed normal. He talked to me casually. Then suddenly... his attitude changed, and he talked about...a private matter.”

The officer remained expressionless as he typed on his laptop.
