Reborn as a Weak Beauty Pampered by All

Chapter 838: Chapter 838: Forced Into It

After hearing Old Loh’s words, Kang Li didn’t know how to respond. She looked at Luo Yanqing, and at this moment, Old Lady Li said, ”Xiao Kang, Old Loh and I know that this might put you and your husband in a difficult position,

but we really have no other choice. Besides, because your family has been so kind to us, we made this decision. You know something about our family situation. Putting aside other things, just consider Xiao En’s mother... our only granddaughter; she passed away before she even turned twenty. Xiao En was brought into this world at the cost of her life...”

Her eyes reddening, Old Lady Li choked up, ”Old Loh and I are ultimately getting on in years; we can’t give Xiao En the kind of parental love he needs, but as the child grows, parents...”

Perhaps overcome with emotion, Old Lady Li was too tearful to speak fluently.

Cai Xiufen advised, ”Alright, alright, old sister. It’s not such a big deal—just letting our Li Bao and Yanqing become his godparents. To me, that’s a great thing! Later on, when they get older, it would be like having another son around. It’s a win-win!”

She turned her gaze to Kang Li and Luo Yanqing, ”Don’t you think?”

”Yes, yes, Mother is right.”

Kang Li nodded with a smile.

Luo Yanqing agreed, then turned his gaze to Old Loh, ”If you really don’t mind what Xiao Li has said, we will gladly accept Xiao En as our godson. But rest assured, as long as the child is with us, we will naturally fulfill our parental responsibility to teach him and treat him as our own child.”

”Thank you! Thank you both so much!”

As he spoke, Old Loh was about to stand up and bow to Luo Yanqing and Kang Li, but Luo Yanqing promptly stopped him. Similarly, when Kang Li saw Old Lady Li try to get up, she quickly helped her back onto the sofa.

With a smile on her face, Kang Li looked at the old couple and said, ”Uncle Loh and Auntie, you are elders, and from today onwards, our families are relatives by godparentage. What you just did really humbles us.”

”Li Bao is right. You are the elders; such a grand gesture is too much for the young couple to bear.”

Cai Xiufen echoed the sentiment.

Old Lady Li said, ”They can bear it, they can. This godparent relationship is something we asked for. Xiao Kang and Little Luo deserve it!”

With that, Old Lady Li lifted Xiao Loh En off the sofa, ”Xiao En, kneel down and bow to your godfather and godmother. From now on, you have parents and siblings. Go on now.”

She gently nudged her little great-grandson, who was a clever child. Like a little penguin, he waddled his short little legs towards Kang Li and Luo Yanqing and was about to kneel down. However, because he was dressed too warmly, he just fell to the floor, making everyone burst into laughter.

Kang Li picked up the child and sat him on her lap, then heard Xiao Loh En in a soft, childlike voice call her, ”Mommy!”

”Yes!”

She responded heartily, and seeing this, Xiao Loh En’s eyes curved in happiness. Then he turned his little head towards Luo Yanqing, and after a while, he moved his mouth and raised his baby voice, ”Daddy!”

Luo Yanqing nodded slightly and responded.

”Director Nie mentioned you to us. He said that for more than two years you’ve not only visited the orphanage to see Xiao En, but also regularly sent milk formula, clothes, and toys for him. Xiao Kang, you truly have a good heart!”

These words were said by Old Lady Li to Kang Li, her eyes full of gratitude, ”You must come to Hu City sometime; then I’ll properly host you and Little Luo at home. Oh, and bring the children too, so it will be lively!”
