Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1346: Chapter 802: Playing Tricks (Happy Birthday, Yao Yao!)

A few strands of wet hair hung down in front of the forehead, with the eyelids drooping heavily, eyes lacking any sparkle, a coffee-colored suit loosely draped over the body…

It’s only been two days, but Shangguan Yunhong has already become haggard, seemingly aged by five or six years. Sun Fuquan came out from the kitchen, helplessly sighing, “Yunhong, let’s eat. I’ve made the celery meatballs you love.”

“You eat, I’m not hungry.”

Such a low voice, gentle tone; since Sun Fuquan got married, he had never experienced this before. Had it been any other time, he would have been incredibly thankful.

But now…

With a light sigh, Sun Fuquan stepped forward and gently patted her shoulder: “Don’t worry. Minmin just went out to clear her mind. When she feels better, she’ll come back.”

“Old Sun…” Shangguan Yunhong raised her head and looked at Sun Fuquan pleadingly, “Can you find Minmin and bring her back, please?”

“Okay.” Sun Fuquan responded, lifting her up, “Then eat obediently, don’t let me worry about both sides.”

Shangguan Yunhong obediently sat at the table, and after eating a few bites, suddenly looked at Sun Fuquan, shocked: “Honey, do you think Minmin might have been kidnapped?”

“What are you thinking?” Sun Fuquan looked at her speechlessly, “Hurry up and eat, don’t let your imagination run wild. Minmin will be fine.”

“Even though I’m strict with Minmin, I truly care for her. I want her to marry into a better family for an easier life in the future. Why doesn’t she understand my heart?” Shangguan Yunhong looked at Sun Fuquan, puzzled, “Honey, will you ever leave me one day?”

Sun Fuquan had no choice but to reassure her: “No, I won’t.”

Silently picking up several meatballs, Shangguan Yunhong continued to be conflicted: “Do you think I’m wrong too?”

“You’re doing it for Minmin’s good, I know that.” Sun Fuquan simply put down his chopsticks, “Yunhong, I’ve never doubted your love for the child, but sometimes you overlook the child’s feelings.

After all, the child has grown up, has her own ideas on some matters. How can you make her listen to you in everything? When Minmin comes back, don’t be impatient with her.

Regarding her marriage, don’t keep pushing her. When the time comes, it can’t be stopped. It’s more important for the child to find someone she likes, don’t you think?”

“Yes, I’ll listen to you. Thinking about that night, I regret it. I wouldn’t have pressured her if I had known. The child has pride; how could she accept Nuonuo arranging a match for her?

Sigh, I was blinded by vanity, only thinking about holding my head high in front of relatives, ignoring the child’s genuine feelings. If time could go back, I surely wouldn’t have used such a method.”

Shangguan Yunhong was unusually gentle, indicating Sun Min’s running away from home really affected her.

Just as the couple finished their meal, the doorbell rang. Sun Fuquan quickly went to open the door, looking at a familiar-looking woman standing at the door, frowning, trying to recall where they had met.

“I’m Luo Feng’s aunt, we met at the banquet.” The woman smiled and handed over her name card.

“Manager Luo, please come in.” Sun Fuquan politely addressed her according to the title on the card.

“No need for formality, Brother Sun is too courteous. Just call me Xiuru.” Aunt Luo said as she handed over a gift box, “For my first visit, here’s a little token of my regard.”

“You’re too kind, I can’t receive this without reason.” Sun Fuquan quickly pushed back, not foolish enough to accept a top-grade sea cucumber gift from someone he had only met once, believing without doubt there were intentions behind it.

“How could I come empty-handed?” Aunt Luo put the gift box on the table and reached out to Shangguan Yunhong, “Sister, do you still recognize me?”

In a bad mood but not mentally deficient, Shangguan Yunhong gave a slight smile, “If there’s something you want to say, Sister Luo, go ahead.”

“Sister is straightforward!” Aunt Luo gave thumbs-up, “I noticed during the banquet that sister was straightforward, which is why I specially came over. You’ve been looking for Sun Min, right?”

Shangguan Yunhong stood up excitedly: “Do you know where Minmin is?”

“Yes.” Aunt Luo deliberately paused.

“Sister, where did you see Minmin? Tell me, please?” Shangguan Yunhong urgently tugged at her sleeve, “Or, if you have any requests, let me know. I’ll do my best to fulfill them.”

“As a mother, I understand your feelings, that’s why I came over to tell you.” Aunt Luo sighed heavily, “Don’t look in Island City anymore. Sun Min has gone to Sha City. She is with her boyfriend Li Wen Zhang, oh, now it should be said your son-in-law, I’ve heard they’ve registered.”

Not only Shangguan Yunhong, but even the usually composed Sun Fuquan was stunned.

This news seemed explosively shocking to them—just in a mere two days, their daughter, unexpectedly gotten married?

Snapping back to reality, Shangguan Yunhong turned and rushed to the bedroom, moving so fast it looked like she was sprinting. Sun Fuquan hesitated slightly and quickly followed her.

Moments later, the couple reappeared in the living room, Shangguan Yunhong eagerly asked her, “What kind of family is the person Minmin married into, do you know?”

“I’ve heard it’s just an ordinary family’s child.” Aunt Luo chuckled, sat on the sofa, “Nowadays, raising a child is really quite worrisome. Sigh, thinking back to our times…”

“How do you know this?” Shangguan Yunhong interrupted Aunt Luo’s ongoing narrative.

“Xiao Feng and Nuonuo were chatting, I overheard them.” Could she say she intentionally eavesdropped?

Shangguan Yunhong stared at her: “Why tell me?”

“As mothers, sigh!” Aunt Luo sighed, “Only a mother can understand the feelings a mother has for her children. Without knowing her daughter’s whereabouts, sister might not be able to eat or sleep well, right?

Actually, I’ve pondered for a long time whether or not to tell you. If Ye’er finds out, I might be blamed as an aunt.

But upon deeper thought, knowing and yet not telling you felt wrong, in the end, the maternal instincts prevailed, so here I am.”

“Thank you.” Shangguan Yunhong gave her a complex look, expressing gratitude.

…

Aunt Luo returned to the villa at eight o’clock in the evening. Out of politeness, Wen Xin greeted her with a smile: “Sister, why return so late, have you eaten?”

Aunt Luo plopped onto the sofa: “Came to Island City with difficulty, so I went out for a stroll. I haven’t eaten yet. Sister-in-law, I hope you left me some food?”

Wen Xin’s expression faintly changed, then instructed Yu Xinmei busy in the kitchen: “Xinmei, heat up a couple of dishes for Aunt Luo.”
