She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 1404: Chapter 1474: Pulling Strings

”Still in the initial construction phase.” Xu Qigang sighed, rubbed his temples with one hand, and said calmly, ”President, I have so much going on right now, how do you expect me to go to the M Country?”

He felt like he was being played.

”Don’t be so anxious!” Shen Feihu sat directly on Xu Qigang’s desk, his movements were rough and bold. Only Xu Qigang would tolerate this; if it were someone else’s desk, they’d be furious.

”Finish up the Special Rescue Team’s tasks first. The trip to M Country is already in preparation. You’re on a diplomatic mission, so you’ll definitely need to negotiate well with them.”

”When will it be settled? What’s the progress?” Xu Qigang didn’t want to wait any longer; every moment for him was excruciating.

”Selecting the diplomats and handling the initial communications. It’s a big deal between countries, and we just dealt with M Country in the Southern Border, so it’s not that simple.”

”Success rate?”

”Ninety-nine percent. I’ve heard both sides are interested, but the details haven’t been finalized. Plus, your trip this time includes a protection task.”

Xu Qigang took a deep breath, trying to suppress the irritation in his heart. ”I understand.”

”Eh? Were you trying to say I can leave now with that last sentence?”

Xu Qigang nodded solemnly, ”Yes, President, you can leave now.”

”I must say, this burning bridges behavior isn’t very nice, is it? I’ve been here less than ten minutes and you’re trying to send me off? Didn’t you welcome me to visit over the phone?” Shen Feihu felt his pride was severely hurt.

It’s like being a father, painstakingly organizing the building of a house and getting a wife for your son. After the wife settles in, the son turns his back on the father, leaving him behind.

”I do welcome you! But you didn’t bring any better news. When you bring better news next time, I’ll welcome you again.”

”You... fine!” Shen Feihu stood up dispiritedly, stopped at the door, and said, ”Actually, I came here today for another matter.”

”President, please go ahead.” Xu Qigang’s attitude towards Shen Feihu remained unchanged throughout.

To him, Shen Feihu was always his old leader, no matter the time or place or his own position.

”It’s about Jian Guo! He wants to apply for a transfer to the Special Rescue Team, he’s even willing to accept a demotion. As a father, I’ve never used connections for him, so I thought of coming to you for a favor.” Shen Feihu awkwardly adjusted his hat, this was the first time this straightforward man felt shy while seeking a favor.

Xu Qigang pursed his lips, a hint of helplessness flashed in his eyes.

Not because of Shen Feihu’s request, but because of the awkward way his old leader presented it.

”President, do you think this is using connections?”

”Isn’t it? As your old leader, isn’t it a given that you’ll comply when I make a request? Since I’ve brought it up, it’s a guaranteed thing, right?” To be fair, Shen Feihu was truly overconfident at times.

No wonder Dean Lu Yuan always had a toothache when he mentioned him.

”It’s not! At most, it’s like you wrote a recommendation letter, and I’ll choose based on the overall quality of your recommended personnel. He still needs to pass the final evaluation to join the Special Rescue Team.”

”Oh?” Shen Feihu grinned, patted Xu Qigang’s shoulder in a congratulatory manner, ”Not bad, kid, you have principles. You’ve learned all my good qualities after all.”
