She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 987: Chapter 1044: Shao Yiping Is Captured

The news of Shao Yiping’s arrest spread quickly, and everyone who could know knew. He was the source of the weapons, and the truth about where Sheng An’s weapons came from, and whether he could clear his name, hinged on getting Shao to talk.

When the news reached the hospital, Zhou Yuan and Hai Shuangjie were both in Hai Lan’s room. Hai Lan was being discharged today, and the couple had come.

An assistant ran in to report, ”President, we just received news from the criminal police team that Shao Yiping has been arrested.”

Zhou Yuan was pouring water, and upon hearing this, the cup in her hand fell to the ground with a crash, shattering to pieces.

”What’s wrong with you? Did you burn yourself?” Hai Shuangjie looked at her in surprise, noticing her pale face, and raised an eyebrow in suspicion, ”Are you feeling unwell? Do you need a doctor to take a look?”

”No, no need.” Zhou Yuan quickly shook her head, hiding the hand that had been scalded with a blister behind her back. Her heart was in a panic; she couldn’t believe someone as cautious as Shao Yiping could be caught.

Hadn’t she told him to leave earlier and lay low? Why was he still here?

This was really a case of more harm than good.

Hai Lan lay in bed, seeing her adoptive mother’s reaction, immediately calculating how to save herself if evidence led back to her.

”President, Shao Yiping is a key figure, should we demand his transfer?”

”Who else is demanding his transfer now?”

”The Trade Union and the Rescue Association.”

Hai Shuangjie pondered for a moment, ”Request him. We can’t let him fall into Shen Feihu’s hands.”

”Yes!”

”By the way, notify the Minister of the General Political Department.”

”Yes!”

The assistant left the hospital directly for the General Political Department, requesting a meeting, but found someone in the minister’s office and had to wait in the reception room.

In the reception room, Secretary Sun stood there, looking bored, nodding and smiling as familiar people came in.

Currently, the relationship between the Hai family and the Su family was tense. Secretary Sun, a confidant of Su Hai, was surprisingly present here, surprising many.

Even more surprisingly, Su Hai came in person, walking into Hai Yunfeng’s office with a calm smile.

”Report!”

”Come in.”

Hai Yunfeng looked at Su Hai, dressed in a suit, greeting him, feeling uncomfortable.

”Alright, since you’ve been transferred to the Trade Union Mansion, no need for the formalities.” Hai Yunfeng sat down, not even mentioning asking his secretary to pour water.

”Did the minister call me here today for some important instructions?” Su Hai feigned ignorance.

”I’m busy, so I’ll get straight to the point. Secretary Sun is with me now, explain the incident in Liyang County to me.”

”Explain what? I don’t understand,” Su Hai retorted, secretly disliking Hai Yunfeng, as their personalities clashed, and they never saw eye to eye.

Unfortunately, being younger and of lower rank, he had to bow his head.

”Don’t beat around the bush with me.”

”Alright! I’ll speak.” Su Hai sat on the sofa opposite Hai Yunfeng, flexed his wrists, and then slowly said, ”Actually, you shouldn’t be angry, I didn’t do anything excessive. In our courtyard, there are plenty who have done far worse than I have.”

”I don’t care about your actions, but having someone cripple an idiot’s hand is really too much.”

”Alas!” Su Hai sighed dramatically, ”You’re just too righteous.”

”Su Hai!” Hai Yunfeng’s patience was almost worn out. If it weren’t for Mr. Su and Su Jiang’s sake, he wouldn’t bother wasting time.
