She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 951: Chapter 1001: Leave It to Me

Someone would even try to rob her of those ten or so bucks?

There were six of them, five from the General Union, four wearing union uniforms, and someone would dare to rob them? Dare to rob the General Union? How bold would that have to be!

Sheng Ning thought about how Dabao looked the last time he came, silently sympathizing with her for a minute.

Having a brother who loves to rip off his sister, suddenly I feel so sympathetic!

The movie started, and everyone went in and sat down in order. ”Lushan Love” is considered a very classic movie, with its tragically beautiful love story capturing the little girls’ undivided attention.

Sheng Ning had watched ”Lushan Love” many times before and wasn’t too interested. On the way here, she noticed that the Trade Union Mansion was not far from the cinema. With the two-hour movie schedule, she could go find Su Hai.

Since she already owed the Su Family a favor this time, it really was a tangled mess that couldn’t be cleared up, impossible to sever ties. Since that’s the case, she didn’t need to be too calculative.

Between relatives and friends, things shouldn’t be calculated too clearly anyway.

”I’m going to the Trade Union Mansion to see Su Hai about something, I’ll be back in at most an hour. You guys watch the movie first, don’t wander off,” Sheng Ning instructed Chen Huaying, who was sitting to her right.

”Don’t worry about it, leave it to me, it’ll be fine.”

”We’re not kids,” Dabao said with a face full of disdain.

”Hurry up, hurry up.”

The group was busy watching the movie, and they had no mind to bother with Sheng Ning, each one finding her a nuisance and shooing her away.

”I’ll go with you!” Liu Yilan proposed.

”Alright!”

The two left the cinema together, and on the way, Liu Yilan whispered, ”Actually, I’ve seen ’Lushan Love’ before.”

”I guessed as much,” Sheng Ning smiled cunningly. She didn’t dare to say she’d seen it too, as that wouldn’t explain her leaving.

The Trade Union Mansion wasn’t as grand and majestic as it would be in the future. Standing guard at the entrance, a comrade saw Sheng Ning and greeted her from afar. Sheng Ning solemnly returned the greeting.

”Hello comrade, are you here on business or to see someone?”

”I’m here to see Vice President Su Hai.”

”Please show your identification.”

Sheng Ning took her identification out of her pocket, including her comrade certificate and ID card, with detailed addresses and General Union numbers. After the guard recorded them, he said, ”Your things must be deposited here first, and will only be returned when you leave.”

”Okay.”

”Follow me.”

They were led into the building and handed over to a girl with pigtails, probably an office clerk.

”Wait here, I’ll go check with our President.”

It was rather difficult to see the Vice President. The visitor sat patiently waiting on a chair in the lobby. Had she known it would be this cumbersome, she wouldn’t have come.

After about half an hour, Sheng Ning saw Sun Gan hastily approaching. He had now been promoted to Vice President, and upon hearing that the visitor’s name was Sheng Ning, he rushed over immediately.

”This is the first time I’ve seen you here, Comrade Sheng Ning. The Vice President is in a meeting, which will end soon. I’ll first take you to his office to wait for a while.”

Sheng Ning frowned, thinking to herself that the government’s idea of ”soon” wasn’t particularly prompt. In her previous life, she’d learned this the hard way. ”When you say ’soon’, do you mean an hour or two?”

”Uh?”

”I have other things to do and can’t wait too long.”

Sun Gan slapped his forehead, guessing that she might have misunderstood. ”Ten minutes, just ten minutes.” Even if it were an hour or two, he wouldn’t dare make this revered guest wait.

”Alright then!”

Sun Gan took Sheng Ning to the office, had the secretary serve tea, and then personally went out to greet everyone. He instructed the gatekeeper specifically that the next time she came, she should be let in directly without any checks or need to deposit her documents.
