She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 938: Chapter 988: Continuing the Search

Hai Yunfeng nodded, observing their reactions, and knew the result wasn’t promising.

”Tell me! How’s the progress?” Even though he knew he’d be disappointed, he couldn’t help but ask repeatedly. Even if he had to dig three feet into the ground, or until his death, he was determined to find Bao’er.

”We have checked all traces from back then, and all similar features to Shen Luhua’s in Dong San Province, yet still no news,” the chief of security said.

Ji Lihua, with a serious expression, proposed, ”I think we should expand the search area.”

”I disagree, the broader the area, the harder it is to find. What we should do now is to sift through the clues one by one and narrow the area using these clues,” Hai Yunfeng stood up, sighing deeply.

Lately, because of Bao’er, he was both ecstatic and anxious. From the initial joy upon learning that Bao’er was not dead but taken away by Shen Luhua, to the present anxiety. If it weren’t for his strong psychological resilience and good upbringing, he feared he wouldn’t have the energy to handle more complex issues.

”Minister, why not convene a professional meeting?” The administration department has the most professional data analysis, intelligence, and comprehensive analysis.

With these professionals and Hai Yunfeng himself involved, they could narrow down the search area to the smallest possible, greatly improving accuracy.

”Let me think about it.” He has always acted fairly and justly, with a clear conscience. Mobilizing resources for his personal matters, he couldn’t get past that inner barrier.

However, not finding Bao’er made him suffer even more.

Hai Yunfeng was deeply lost in thought for a moment.

Unable to hold back, Ji Lihua said, ”Minister, don’t hesitate any longer. The more time you waste, the more hardship Bao’er might endure.”

Hai Yunfeng gritted his teeth, thinking that his Bao’er might be suffering, and decided, ”I understand. The meeting will be held in the afternoon, and you both should attend. Also, my leave has been approved, and it will be for ten days.”

Even for Hai Yunfeng’s status, applying for leave had to be submitted to the labor committee, and it was submitted two months ago, but due to various matters, it was only approved now.

”That’s great news.”

The two were overjoyed.

President Zhu received the rejection from the General Political Department a week later, and upon hearing, he was indescribably disappointed. His expression made people in the office suspect that the rejection was regarding his own daughter.

For this reason, President Zhu specially visited the General Political Department, only to get the reply that the minister personally refused.

President Zhu cursed his bad luck internally, knowing Hai Yunfeng was always stern and impartial. Seeing his letter of recommendation, he might have thought Zhu was trying to pull strings! No wonder it was rejected.

Wanting to meet Hai Yunfeng, the news came that the minister was out of town.

President Zhu had to leave disappointed and went straight to the Main Hospital to find Sheng Ning.

”Hello, Comrade Sheng Ning.”

”President Zhu?” Sheng Ning was quite surprised to see him, ”Is it something about my sister that has been uncovered?”

”Not yet! But there is a lead.”

”What lead?” Sheng Ning asked nervously.

”The source of the black market weapons.” Beyond this, President Zhu wasn’t willing to say more. They were bound by confidentiality rules, and some things couldn’t be said even if their own parents asked.

Sheng Ning knew that was enough. Since the source was traced, Zhou Yuan surely wouldn’t remain idle.

”Comrade Sheng Ning, I came today to inform you that I wrote a recommendation letter to the General Political Department last time, but surprisingly it was rejected. What do you plan to do next?”
