She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 841: Chapter 881: Buying New Clothes

”That’s my job responsibility.”

”Alright, you go ahead with your work.”

After greeting Sister Guo, Sheng Ning shouldered her black little crossbody bag and left the hospital with Chen Huaying. The two decided to go to a snack shop for a meal; the hospital food was really hard to swallow, and every time she cooked back at the compound, it wasn’t enough to eat. Plus, she’d lost her appetite being in the kitchen exposed long-term to the smell of cooking oil. Today’s visit could be considered a shopping trip too.

The Main Hospital is located at a prime spot, surrounded by stores, and there’s a farmer’s market not far away. Every time Sheng Ning goes back to cook, she buys ingredients from the farmer’s market; everything you could need is there.

After eating, they went to the stores to buy clothes together. The weather was getting hotter, and Sheng Ning had been too busy earlier and hadn’t had the chance to add a few new pieces to her wardrobe. Besides, since the in-laws were visiting, as a daughter-in-law, she definitely needed to buy some new clothes for the elders. Also needed to buy a few sets for her parents to take back later. Oh yes, and for An’an, and Living Yama as well.

Living Yama always wore rescue uniform all year round; it was rare to see him in casual clothes. He was simply wasting his innate clothing model physique; he looked so handsome in rescue uniforms, imagine him in a black suit—it would be another level of handsome.

”Here, here...” Chen Huaying led the way, and after almost half an hour, they arrived at a newly opened department store.

It had four floors, larger than those run by the city. The constant flow of people made it obvious that the wealthy locals frequently came and went.

”Let me tell you, this one was only opened before the New Year, and sells everything. I heard many clothing styles are imported from Shanghai and Hong Kong. Wow... I’ve never worn Hong Kong clothes in my entire life!”

”Today I’ll buy you one as a gift.” She hadn’t yet spent her royalties from Phoenix Theater, as well as wedding and New Year red envelopes received, mainly because she was always busy with performances and training at the General Union with nowhere to spend money.

”Really?” Chen Huaying wasn’t going to be modest with her, ”Alright, I’ll give you a chance to be attentive.”

”Thank you, thank you Mr. Chen.”

The two joked with each other as they walked into the department store. It was indeed very large, with decor styled like it’s already the 1990s. Sheng Ning couldn’t help but admire the foresight of the department store’s boss; it’s difficult not to become wealthy with such visionary thinking.

Sigh! She had chosen to dive into the General Union, never to part from it. Otherwise, she could have seized the opportunity during the economic reforms to do business and become a wealthy little millionaire.

As Sheng Ning browsed, she planned in her mind; even under the current pen name of Rebirth, she could make money. She didn’t aspire to vast riches, just to be better off than some and content with what she had. Later, she’d buy a few more properties, and with such appreciation potential, it would be worth it.

Chen Huaying marveled at the sight, unlike anything from the supply and marketing cooperatives or city-run stores.

”These clothes are really nice.” On the second floor, which sold women’s clothing, Chen Huaying picked out a coat with a hood, somewhat resembling a future hoodie.

To be honest, Chen Huaying had quite an eye for clothes; her personality was bright and dashing, a bit of a tomboy. Wearing a hoodie like that would make her look incredibly cool; Sheng Ning could imagine her returning to school and captivating a bunch of young girls.

”Customer’s taste is excellent; this piece imported from Hong Kong is styled like in the movies,” the salesperson confidently said, ”many people want to buy it, though it’s a bit expensive.”

”How much is it?”
