Longevity through Upgrading Buildings

Chapter 305: Chapter 174: The Struggle for Patriarch Has Always Been This Way!

Ji Yuan, hiding in the shadows, also wanted to shout, ”What?!”

But what surprised him wasn’t the Shui Family claiming that there’s a true dragon at the bottom of Li Hua River; it was the young man’s remark that he had dug up his family’s ancestral grave...

Truth be told, daring to dig up one’s own ancestral grave... that’s a ruthless person.

With a cultivation at the sixth level of Qi Cultivation, it might be a bit underutilized.

Given time, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to reach Foundation Establishment.

With this in mind, Ji Yuan began to seriously scrutinize the two individuals. As people from the Shui Family were naturally surnamed Shui. Judging by appearance, they weren’t unusual, just their hairstyle was different from the locals. Both had hair starting from the temples, crossed over and coiled at the back while some strands stood up on top... Their heads were a bit pointed.

But under Ji Yuan’s Divine Sense, he could discern that their hair was styled into a coiled snake.

The young man laughed and said, ”Second Grandpa, there’s a true dragon at the bottom of Taohua River. Isn’t the Huankong Clan story of our Shui Family something we’ve heard since childhood?”

”How come you don’t believe there’s a true dragon at the bottom of the water?”

The old man didn’t respond to this question but asked somewhat eagerly, ”What about the Secret Scripture?”

The young man wrapped his arms around his chest and smiled slightly, ”Secret Scripture... does Second Grandpa really think I’m the little child who always cried for milk?”

The old man didn’t get angry hearing this, instead, he smiled.

”In Grandpa’s eyes, you’re always that little child crying for milk.”

The young man’s eyes showed a fleeting touch of emotion, but it vanished in an instant. He waved his hand and said with a sinister smile, ”Alright, Second Grandpa, stop coaxing a child, neither of us are fools, let’s just speak clearly.”

”Oh? If that’s the case, then Shui Kai, you clever guy, tell me, what would it take for you to hand over the Secret Scripture?”

The young man referred to as Shui Kai looked around, then directly sat down on the mud, ”Do I really need to say?”

The old man followed and sat across from him.

”You want the Young Master position... that’s a bit tricky. You know, you are only at the sixth level of Qi Cultivation now, but Shui Qian is at the seventh level. Just this point alone makes it hard to convince the crowd.”

”Convince the crowd?”

Shui Kai snorted, ”Shui Qian, that punk, reaching the seventh level of Qi Cultivation, it’s all because he’s relying on his father being the Patriarch? Damn it, when I was at the sixth level, I used to beat him up. A Young Master like that?”

”If the position of Patriarch is handed over to someone like him, our Shui Family would be doomed.”

The old man spread his hands, ”Who told your father not to be the Patriarch then?”

It’s just that simple; one sentence sums it up.

Blue veins on Shui Kai’s forehead twitched, but he didn’t get angry, seemingly having thought through this issue long ago.

He moved closer to the old man and whispered, ”Hasn’t Second Grandpa ever thought of changing the Patriarch? How about... Uncle Huo.”

The Uncle Huo Shui Kai talked about, whose real name is Shui Huo, is the son of the old man before them.

The words made the old man instantly shut his mouth.

Under Ji Yuan’s Divine Sense, it was even more evident as he noticed the old man’s pupils shrink, his skin tightening across his body.

In other words, he was tempted.

”With Second Grandpa’s relationship with several other clan elders, let’s not mention anything else. As long as the Patriarch isn’t there, wouldn’t it be easy to push Uncle Huo to the position?”

”Then with the Secret Scripture I have in hand... regardless of whether there’s a true dragon, just the Secret Technique on the Secret Scripture would be enough for our Shui Family to dominate both banks of the Li Hua River.”

”Speaking of what’s to come, Second Grandpa, you definitely have no chance of reaching Foundation Establishment, but my Uncle Huo is only 45 years old this year, he might still have an opportunity to gamble. Even if he doesn’t, what about Brother Quan? He’s just 21 years old now...”

Brother Quan, named Shui Quan, is the old man’s grandson and the one closest among the four or five grandsons he has.

These words made the old man’s breathing noticeably quicken.

Shui Kai leaned back again, looking completely settled.

The old man subconsciously glanced at Shui Kai’s Storage Bag, but even such a hidden action was caught by Shui Kai’s eye.

”Such an important thing, do you think I would be stupid enough to put it in the Storage Bag?”

”Rest assured, if I don’t take it out voluntarily, you’ll never find it in your lifetime.”

”The situation is significant and needs to be carefully planned.” The old man finally spoke.

Shui Kai mocked even more, ”Careful planning, isn’t it that you want Uncle Huo to take the position, then make Brother Quan the Young Master?”

”Don’t worry, I don’t want the title or anything; I only need the resources for the Young Master, and nothing else. To be frank, my ambition isn’t here at the Li Hua River!”

”Alright!”

The old man listened to Shui Kai’s statement, gritted his teeth, and agreed.

”Fine, Shui Cang as the Patriarch... I’ve disliked him for a long time. He always gives the good stuff to his son. Quan’er has more talent than his son but gets nothing; it’s high time for a change.”

”Change?”

Shui Kai said very seriously, ”Second Grandpa, if you don’t eliminate the root, the spring wind will blow and grow again.”

”Rest assured, I understand this reasoning.”

The old man finished speaking, slowly stood up, shook his sleeves; the light on his Magic Robe flashed and became clean once again, ”Let’s go, it won’t be long before this matter sees a resolution.”

Shui Kai nodded but didn’t get up.

”Second Grandpa, you go back first. I’ll return in a while; if we walk back together... it’ll be too conspicuous.”

”Yo, still an old hand at this, alright.”

The old man smiled and turned to leave.

Hiding in the fog, Ji Yuan thought for a moment, then opened a path in the Array, allowing the old man to leave.

Initially, Ji Yuan thought that the young man named Shui Kai had hidden the Secret Scripture somewhere and would go retrieve it once the old man was gone.
