Longevity through Upgrading Buildings

Chapter 149: Chapter 121: [Kitchen], [Wine Cellar], and [Array Room] (2-in-1)_3

He never expected that after looking over everything, he actually spotted one.

It wasn’t exactly a lucky find, but because this task had a special marker in front, which meant it could be repeatedly accepted.

”[Grade D Quest: Submit a jug of wine that I think tastes good, whether Spirit Wine or regular wine is fine.]

[Quest Duration: None]

[Quest Reward: 100 Merit Points]”

Ji Yuan guessed it was probably posted by some old drunk, and as for the condition of ”I think tastes good” — well, that was whatever.

If a real old drunk found a wine he liked, he definitely wouldn’t mind handing over that 100 merit points.

Besides, it’s just a jug of wine. Not worth much.

Let alone, it could even be ordinary wine.

Ji Yuan wasn’t an expert in wine, but he figured he could work something out with buildings, like maybe build a [Wine Cellar], so he took the quest, then returned to Mist Island.

This time, he hadn’t been away for long, and with Big Toad there, nothing drastic had happened.

After landing, Ji Yuan released Tu Yue and sent her off to tidy up.

He also sliced a few more jin of Spirit Pig meat to feed Big Toad.

Once everything was dealt with, he headed into the [Enlightenment Room].

Up next, it was time to comprehend arrays. First, he needed to comprehend this tier-one ”Spirit Gathering Array”, and once the [Array Room] reached Level 1, then he could work on the Mist Array and arrange it over the island.

The last thing was to comprehend the ”Rain Killing Needle”, and that would be everything for now.

Fortunately, there was no rush; he had plenty of time.

Besides, the Yin Ghost from the Yin Ghost Array also needed to be further improved. Earlier, it had eaten two Yin Pills from the demon cultivator and luckily reached the seventh layer of Qi Cultivation.

After that, Ji Yuan would feed it yin treasures from time to time. The Yin Ghost’s strength had improved, but it was slow going.

Could he build a structure like a [Corpse-Nurturing Grounds], to foster Yin Qi and help the Yin Ghost become stronger?

Damn, cultivation is just too short—if only he could use one day as two.

No, two days probably still wouldn’t be enough... he’d need a day to count as a hundred days.

Maybe he should get bolder and see if it’s possible to make a building that alters the flow of time... but even if it triggers, he probably couldn’t upgrade it anyway, just didn’t have that ability.

Cultivation, talisman painting, alchemy, and now a new job: understanding arrays.

Thankfully, Tu Yue was helping out. This time back, Ji Yuan didn’t rush her to keep expanding the Spirit Field. The island was just too big; even with her level of cultivation, if it was just her... a year of digging wouldn’t yield much.

”Looks like it’s time to consider getting a few more corpse puppets. Tu Yue is easy to use, but there’s still only one of her.”

”And this Corpse Puppet Technique seems incomplete... Logically, corpse puppets should be able to improve their strength like Yin Ghosts.”

Tu Yue had been called back from the Spirit Field, but she was still digging.

Since Ji Yuan needed to cultivate, the job of digging the wine cellar fell to her.

A blink of the eye, and half a month had passed.

In the [Enlightenment Room], relying on his unmatched talent, Ji Yuan finally fully comprehended the ”Spirit Gathering Array” and deployed it in his Cave Mansion.

With the array’s boost, the Spiritual Qi concentration in the Cave Mansion increased by another twenty percent.

And with the [Cave Mansion] building’s effect, the Mist Island Cave Mansion’s Spiritual Qi now surpassed Chulong Island.

”Spirit Gathering Array” — complete.

The [Array Room] could now be upgraded.

With a command from Ji Yuan, the menu refreshed again.

He looked up.

[Array Room: Level 1]

Building upgraded, Ji Yuan called up the panel.

[Array Room: Level 2 (Cannot Upgrade)]

[Spirit Effect: Tier One array comprehension ability +40%, Tier Two array comprehension ability +20%, Tier Three array comprehension ability +5%, automatically obtain Tier Two Killing Array ”Star Dust Illusionary Killing Array”]

[Upgrade condition: Mid-grade Spirit Stone ×40, Meteorite Stone ×5, Illusionary Spirit Sand ×6 jin, upgrade one Tier One array to Tier Two array (Incomplete)]

Level 2 [Array Room] was seriously damn attractive!

Just like Level 3 Cave Mansion, which could automatically create the ”Star Spiral Cloud Barrier” for protection.

Now a Level 2 [Array Room] could directly provide a Tier Two Killing Array.

The only hitch was the upgrade requirement: he had to upgrade a full Tier One array to a Tier Two... Ji Yuan thought it over and figured he’d probably have to work on the Yin Ghost Array.

First, it was the array he was most familiar with.

Second, upgrading the Yin Ghost Array, aside from modifying the array pattern, boosting the Yin Ghost’s strength would also help, so when the time came it should be a bit simpler.

After the Array Room was upgraded, comprehending the ”Mist Array” would be much easier.

After all, aside from Ji Yuan’s own talent, he had another 20% building boost.

Even so, it still took ten days for Ji Yuan to fully comprehend the Mist Array.

After figuring out the array, he took the array plate of the Mist Array and found several suitable spots around the island to place the array plates, then drew out array power and set up an array hub under a certain stone on the island.

With that, along with dozens of buried low-grade Spirit Stones, the whole island was suddenly cloaked in mist.

A hazy white veiled everything, and the mist generated by the Mist Array blended perfectly with the island’s natural fog; the two merged, reinforcing the effectiveness of the Mist Array by a few degrees.

Ji Yuan stood at the highest peak of the island, atop the cliff.

Originally, at noon each day, this place would stand out from the fog, but now it didn’t; the entire area, even the surrounding waters, drifted with mist.
