Longevity through Upgrading Buildings

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Enlightenment Room Level 1

Although the Spirit Root is a four-element root, Ji Yuan is aware that his comprehension is still quite good.

But if it could be raised a bit more, that would be even better, like those novels he read in his past life, with things like ”heaven-defying comprehension” or ”ten thousand times comprehension.”

So after getting home, the first thing Ji Yuan did was find paper and pen and once again wrote the three characters ”Enlightenment Room.”

Looking around, he finally pasted this written paper on the door of his storage room.

Just at the moment he pasted it, the panel refreshed.

Success!

[Enlightenment Room lv0]

[lv1: Spirit Effect: Calms the mind and gathers Qi, increases comprehension by 10%]

[Upgrade conditions: Low-grade Spirit Stone ×10, Clear Heart Grass ×3, one pound of Black Crystal Sand (Not Achieved)]

Ji Yuan glanced over, and the spirit effect was extremely simple, just increases comprehension by 10%.

Excellent, excellent.

This [Enlightenment Room] should indeed be this straightforward and strong.

But compared to others, this 10% seems a bit little... it should mean that comprehension is too precious and too rare, in other words, being able to increase comprehension by 10% is already extremely powerful.

The upgrade conditions are not hard either.

Clear Heart Grass is sold in Zengtou City, it’s not something like a treasure of heaven and earth, just herbs for refining elixirs, the price seems to be only 1 Spirit Stone per plant.

Black Crystal Sand is a resource for artifact refining, also available for sale, this one seems to be more expensive, requiring 5 Spirit Stones per pound.

But that’s fine, for Ji Yuan today, it’s not much.

So having just returned home, he pushed the door open again and went out.

Outside the yard, the neighboring Wen family of three were fishing at the door; or rather, it was the Wen Lin couple taking their child out.

Seeing Ji Yuan come out, Wen Lin handed the fishing rod to Zhao Yuechan, stood up and said with a smile, ”Brother Ji, just came back, and going out again?”

”Yeah, bought too few things, need to go to the city one more time.”

Ji Yuan smiled; he had a good impression of the Wen family, not to mention they had helped him before.

”Brother Ji, are you going to buy New Year’s goods? Remember to bring me something delicious.”

The little girl, Wen Linger, holding a small fishing rod, said swaying her head.

”Buying New Year’s goods?”

Ji Yuan, who was about to take out the Dharma Ship, was momentarily stunned, then remembered that this world also has the custom of celebrating the New Year, and indeed it was approaching the year’s end.

In past years, the original owner would celebrate the New Year with his parents, but this year, it seems he would be by himself.

Reflecting back on both his lifetimes, this seems to be the first time he would spend the New Year alone... he chuckled and responded.

”Sure, I’ll definitely bring some for Linger.”

The Wen Lin couple naturally exchanged pleasantries, then watched Ji Yuan summon the Dharma Ship and leave.

With the boat in the water, there was no need to continue fishing, so Wen Lin simply put down the rod, and beside him, Zhao Yuechan, looking at the departing figure of Ji Yuan, said in a low voice: ”Husband, wasn’t that a Mid-grade Dharma Ship just now?”

”Yes, and it’s one of the finest among Mid-grade Dharma Ships. If it weren’t for some lacking materials, it could almost reach High-grade.”

Wen Lin, being well-versed and experienced, commented.

”So where has he been these few days...”

Wen Lin clasped his hands in his sleeves, smiling, ”Where could he go, he must have gone to make a fortune.”

However, after the laugh, Wen Lin became somewhat reflective, ”To think that we randomly picked a place to stay, and we encounter such a neighbor, it’s surely beneficial to establish a good relationship with him.”

”It must be fate.”

Zhao Yuechan absolutely agreed.

After a while, Ji Yuan returned by boat again, handed over a few sugar figurines that he had picked up along the way to Wen Linger, and then hurriedly went inside.

Entering the living room, he looked at the clutter in this... Enlightenment Room and immediately chose to upgrade.

With the disappearance of the three items in the storage bag, the panel refreshed again.

The effect of Level 2 [Enlightenment Room] appeared.

[Enlightenment Room lv2]

[Spirit Effect: Comprehension boost increased to 20%, and if encountering a bottleneck, an additional 10% comprehension boost is granted.]

[Upgrade conditions: Mid-grade Spirit Stone ×20, Illusion Heart Flower ×3, Earth Vein Spirit Marrow ×1 pot, entry into an intermediate-level Magic (Not Achieved)]

The upgrade conditions are still more or less the same, requiring Spirit Stones and some Immortal Talent.

The only difference is the need to enter an intermediate-level Magic.

But this spirit effect... definitely a great tool for closed cultivation, getting an additional comprehension boost at bottlenecks, it really understands the struggles of cultivators!

Once encountering a bottleneck, comprehension increased by 30%, who needs anything else at that point?

Cultivation, that’s what cultivation is!

Ji Yuan didn’t dare waste such favorable conditions, so in the following period, apart from going to Zengtou City to replenish some survival and cultivation supplies, he went nowhere else.

If it was before, he might still need to occasionally paint some talismans to make a living.

But now it’s no longer needed, half a tael of Blood Essence each day is worth 10 Spirit Stones.

There are also 30 Spirit Eggs, plus the Cock’s Crown Blood, and Ji Yuan raised a Spirit Dolphin.

Since raising the Spirit Dolphin, he rarely ate the Spirit Egg Shells, most of the time, they were fed to the pig.

With the occasional evolution of the half-Spirit Fish.

Ji Yuan noted, unable to spend it all, really unable to spend it all.

With so many Spirit Stones, Ji Yuan’s cultivation became extravagant; he began to... take pills.

The most suitable cultivation elixir for the Qi Cultivation Stage is called the Spirit Gathering Pill, which can increase the cultivator’s absorption speed of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi and shorten the weekly circulation time.

The price isn’t cheap either, one pill costs 10 Spirit Stones.

But it was within Ji Yuan’s affordability, so he spent the days in the Enlightenment Room comprehending magic, or went to the Talisman Room to draw talismans.

And at night, he began to take pills and cultivate.

Under this cultivation regime, the quickest thing he comprehended was the second layer of the Water Drop Finger.

He reckoned it was because he had the first layer as a foundation, so on the third day of closed cultivation, he comprehended ”Piercing Stone.”

For this, he specially went to find a reed marsh, watching as three Spiritual Lights as fine as hairs condensed at his fingertips.

In comparison, this second layer’s ”Piercing Stone” is even more concealed than the first layer.

It’s just that hitting the same spot with the three consecutive Spiritual Lights is somewhat difficult.

It has to be used in conjunction with the Canglang Sword Technique for better effect.

After a series of attempts, Ji Yuan once again returned home to focus on cultivation.

He had thought that the next breakthrough would come from either comprehending the first layer of the Canglang Sword Technique or a cultivational breakthrough that was subtly at the boundary.

Unexpectedly, the sword technique never grasped the entry, instead, there was a breakthrough in the way of talismans.

On that day, Ji Yuan had forgotten that he was in the [Enlightenment Room], not the [Talisman Room], and started drawing talismans with a Talisman Brush, accidentally crossing the threshold of Mid-grade Talismans that had troubled him for a long time.

The first one was a Golden Body Talisman that once saved his life. After successfully drawing the first one, Ji Yuan immediately switched to the [Talisman Room].

With the success rate increase, the selling price of a Mid-grade Talisman was about 10 Spirit Stones...

Ji Yuan, who was already not particularly lacking in Spirit Stones, now lacked even less.

That evening.

Unable to enter the Canglang Sword Technique, Ji Yuan ended the day’s comprehension and was about to start his nighttime pill-taking cultivation.

Just then, he suddenly heard unusual noises coming from the yards on both sides, different from the usual.

In just a moment, the sound of fireworks exploding rang out from far away in Zengtou City.

After pondering, Ji Yuan, who had been cultivating arduously for days, realized that today... was New Year’s Eve.

”Oh well, I might as well give myself a break.”

Ji Yuan stood up and went to the front yard, watching the constant fireworks bloom like clusters of silver flowers in the sky over Zengtou City.

Lively laughter and chatter also reached from the neighbors’ yards.

Wu Qin, rarely speaking loudly, was contending with Lin Hu over which fireworks were the most beautiful.

In the other yard, the childish voice of Wen Linger continuously rang out, while Zhao Yuechan called for her to slow down.

At this moment, Ji Yuan felt a rare trace of loneliness.

The excitement is theirs, and it seems I have nothing... coupled with the sword technique not entering despite days of effort, increased Ji Yuan’s sense of desolation.

He subconsciously summoned the flying sword White Water.

The White Water Flying Sword coiled gently around his finger.

”Boom——”

A sudden firework explosion sounded overhead, and Ji Yuan looked up, the sky mirroring a display of fiery blossoms.

In a moment of haze, he seemed to feel something and thought ”go” to himself.

The White Water Flying Sword left his hand, the sword emerged like a swirling wave.

New Year’s Eve.

Ji Yuan entered the initiation of the Canglang Sword Technique.
