Supreme Sword God

Chapter 323: Chapter 322: Phoenix, the Egg-Brooding Man!

Ye Chen examined the sacred egg. Previously, Dongfang Xiu had damaged a sacred egg, causing the demon beasts of the Luoyao Mountain Range to riot.

Moreover, this sacred egg was guarded in turns by the four great Demon Kings of the Luoyao Mountain Range.

It was evident that this sacred egg held crucial significance for the demonic beasts of the Luoyao Mountain Range!

Ye Chen stepped forward and touched the sacred egg with his hand.

”Dong dong dong!”

Suddenly, a powerful force erupted from within the sacred egg, as if repelling Ye Chen’s touch.

”It’s just an egg, am I supposed to be afraid of it?” Ye Chen picked up the egg and tossed it into the Sword Tomb!

Subsequently, with a flicker of his silhouette, he entered the Sword Tomb as well.

Upon entering the Sword Tomb, its external form, the pendant shaped like a sword, could not be concealed.

Furthermore, if the sword-shaped pendant was struck by an external force, it was quite fragile.

This was the reason Ye Chen always avoided everyone’s sight when entering the Sword Tomb.

But now, he had no choice.

If he didn’t enter the Sword Tomb, he couldn’t escape!

Of course, this move was well thought out.

The four great Demon Kings would never expect that after stealing the sacred egg, he was still right here and hadn’t left.

Additionally, this was the place where the four great Demon Kings kept the sacred egg, so they likely wouldn’t unleash a violent force here.

Therefore, the sword-shaped pendant, hidden in the grass by the stone where the sacred egg was previously placed, was quite safe.

......

”Boom boom boom!”

Just as Ye Chen entered the Sword Tomb, thunderous roars erupted in the distance.

As a section of the sky shattered, a hundred-meter-long black flood dragon dove out from the void!

The black flood dragon charged ferociously next to the White Elephant Demon King and the Celestial Fox Demon King, who were still engaged in battle, and expelled a terrifying force from its mouth, blasting them both away!

”The sacred egg has been stolen, if it’s not retrieved, both of you are dead!” the black flood dragon roared furiously.

Upon hearing this, both the White Elephant Demon King and the Celestial Fox Demon King shivered on the spot.

”Black Flood Dragon Demon King, what’s going on?” A roc bird covered in golden feathers flew over, none other than the Golden Roc Demon King!

The Black Flood Dragon Demon King angrily said, ”Find the sacred egg first, the thief can’t have gotten far!”

......

Inside the Sword Tomb.

Ye Chen sensed the situation outside and found that the four great Demon Kings were scattering in different directions to give chase, finally allowing him some peace of mind to examine the stolen egg closely.

The egg on the ground of the Sword Tomb was jumping violently.

Ye Chen plopped down on the bouncing sacred egg, unconcerned about it breaking since the egg Dongfang Xiu broke before was already a bad egg.

”Elder Qingyi, what’s the origin of this bouncing egg? Have you figured it out?”

According to his plan, taking this egg was to bargain with the demon beasts of Luoyao Mountain Range, yet he was still curious about the origin of this bouncing egg!

Luo Qingyi examined it closely.

Master Legs also came over, his leg hair flowing as if pondering.

After a moment, Luo Qingyi said, ”If I’m not mistaken, it should be a phoenix egg!”

”What?!”

Ye Chen jumped up promptly, no longer daring to sit. The divine bird phoenix... is as top-tier a creature as the Dragon Race, not something to be offended lightly.

Master Legs also said, ”The little phoenix inside is probably quite grown, but dares not come out. Such a being is somewhat defiant of the natural order, and thus, when it hatches, will be subject to divine wrath, unless nurtured by strong essence, to survive the emergence tribulation.

However, the Sword Tomb itself isolates from the Heavenly Dao, so if the little phoenix inside were to hatch now, it wouldn’t be a problem, but it wouldn’t dare to leave the Sword Tomb.

Of course, the little phoenix inside doesn’t dare to come out at the moment, afraid we might roast and eat it if it did!”

”...” Ye Chen: ”Master Legs, you don’t even have a mouth or stomach, can you eat it?”

”Roasting a phoenix just for sport would be nice, too.” Master Legs’ tone became somewhat quirky.

The phoenix egg hopping around on the ground suddenly quieted down.

Ye Chen could imagine the little phoenix inside the eggshell trembling.

Luo Qingyi glanced at the phoenix egg, then at Ye Chen, her eyes flashing, ”You’ve got yourself a great opportunity, kid.”

Ye Chen was still a bit stunned at this moment.

He initially intended to nab the sacred egg to bargain with Luoyao Mountain Range’s Demon Kings, and now he’s ended up with a phoenix egg... the situation suddenly became much more complicated.

How did the four great Demon Kings—Black Flood Dragon, Golden Roc, White Elephant, Celestial Fox—end up with a phoenix?

”Take out that Soul-Stabilizing Bead you got earlier!” Luo Qingyi said.

Ye Chen complied, retrieving a fist-sized stone bead from the Storage Ring.

He obtained this during his first task at Cangxing Martial Arts Academy.

At that time, people from Feiyang Martial Arts Academy came for this Soul-Stabilizing Bead, plotting against the Black Wind Mountain Bandits, resulting in both groups being wiped out, leaving the item in Ye Chen’s possession.

Ye Chen had more or less uncovered the origin of this so-called Soul-Stabilizing Bead; it belonged to the Luoyao Mountain Range, and according to Luo Qingyi, it contained the essence of a great demon!

It had been collecting dust in Ye Chen’s Storage Ring, being of no use.

As Ye Chen brought out the Soul-Stabilizing Bead, his eyes immediately lit up!

Luo Qingyi had mentioned before that the great demon’s essence sealed within was likely intended for nurturing offspring, so could it be... this Soul-Stabilizing Bead is for incubating the phoenix egg?

Luo Qingyi waved her hand, and the Soul-Stabilizing Bead in Ye Chen’s hand flew into hers.

Subsequently, cracking sounds echoed.

The stone skin on the surface of the Soul-Stabilizing Bead fragmented and fell away, transforming into a mass of pure energy radiating glorious light.

The egg on the ground, dormant for a while, began jumping vigorously again.

Luo Qingyi snorted, saying, ”Offer up your soul essence in exchange for this essence, or else it’ll be destroyed immediately!”

The jumping egg calmed for a moment, suddenly the surface of the eggshell began to emit a dazzling glow, coalescing into a strand that floated up.

Luo Qingyi looked at Ye Chen, ”Refine it into your sea of consciousness!”

Ye Chen roughly understood what this meant; it was about forcibly making the little phoenix a pet!

Without hesitation, Ye Chen grasped the strand of light with his palm and then began to refine it.

After about half a quarter of an hour.

A strand of light appeared in Ye Chen’s sea of consciousness.

Luo Qingyi said, ”If this little thing ever disobeys, destroy that strand of soul essence directly.”

The phoenix egg on the ground ceased its jumping and began trembling violently... like someone shivering.

Luo Qingyi tossed the great demon essence beside the phoenix egg.

The phoenix egg suddenly unleashed a powerful suction force, absorbing the essence, then became still once more.

Ye Chen observed intently for a long while before saying, ”Elder Qingyi, Master Legs, why hasn’t the little phoenix come out yet?”

”It doesn’t happen that quickly. Although the little phoenix inside the egg has grown for some time, absorbing that mass of essence will take time. Meanwhile, spend some time bonding with the egg to develop some feelings.” Master Legs said.

Ye Chen’s expression turned sour.

Just a moment ago, he imagined becoming a man riding a phoenix... it turns out that to ride a phoenix, he first has to become a man incubating an egg!
