Supreme Sword God

Chapter 258: Chapter 257: Individual Tournament, Behind-the-Scenes Manipulation

”If I’m second, who can be first?”

Ye Chen’s words made everyone present pause for a moment.

What kind of confidence is this?

To many people, this also seemed extremely arrogant!

In the arena, there were some prodigies who felt unconvinced in their hearts.

For example, He Xiao, who came up with the strong leader from the Tongming Martial Arts Academy, didn’t believe he was weaker than Ye Chen. The only reason he had to concede in the team competition was that Ye Chen had the advantage of War Soul Mountain’s rules.

As for Han Qianshan from the Emperor Star Martial Arts Academy, he was absolutely confident about taking first place in the individual competition. He had fought Ye Chen before; back then, Ye Chen had clearly shown all his cards. If Ye Chen hadn’t received assistance from Ouyang Xiaoling’s Extreme Earth Spirit Seal, Han Qianshan believed he would have definitely defeated Ye Chen.

Moreover, at that time, Han Qianshan hadn’t even used his strongest moves!

Apart from Han Qianshan and He Xiao, there were still some prodigies who felt that in a direct confrontation, they wouldn’t be weaker than Ye Chen.

Dean Xu Changqing from the Emperor Star Martial Arts Academy smiled and said, ”All right, if you take first place in the individual competition, I can agree to your request, but there’s a condition: you’ll have to find a way to appease the obsessions of these decayed corpses yourself.”

”All right, it’s a deal!” Ye Chen’s expression was solemn, and he spoke with a strong and powerful tone!

A moment later.

The crowd descended the mountain.

Xu Changqing personally announced the rules for the individual competition.

”The individual competition will still take place within this fragment of the ancient battlefield. In a while, you will enter an arranged array restriction, where you will randomly encounter an opponent for a match inside the array restriction.

Losers will leave the array restriction.

Winners will have a half-quarter rest before continuing to fight.

Whoever can last till the end will be the first!

Additionally, during the individual competition, using spirit stones, pills, or other external items is prohibited!”

The rules are very simple, a two-on-two match-up, and no one should think they can hide in a place to bide their time and make a move at the last moment, ensuring fairness to the greatest extent.

After explaining the rules.

Martial Academy strongmen led the disciples participating in the individual competition to the area with the arranged array restriction.

Due to injuries during the team competition, only over 800 people participated in the individual competition.

It seems like a lot, but the individual competition won’t actually take too long to end.

After each round of competition, half of the people will be filtered out!

Sung Siming from Cangxing Martial Arts Academy didn’t continue in the individual competition; he was previously badly injured when facing two people from Emperor Star Martial Arts Academy, and his injuries intensified when he tried to block people on the War Soul Mountain steps.

The fatty walking beside Ye Chen used spiritual power to transmit his voice, ”Brother Ye, Ouyang Xiaoling, Qu Xiao, and I, don’t expect much from the individual competition; it’s up to you now.

There’s something I need to remind you, Han Qianshan of Emperor Star Martial Arts Academy is not so simple, he has another snow mountain saber technique that is not weaker than the Golden Crow Saber Technique.

Moreover, he has fused and developed an extremely terrifying ultimate technique from the two saber techniques; you must be careful if you face him.”

The strength of Han Qianshan was within Ye Chen’s expectations.

However, no matter how many cards Han Qianshan still had, Ye Chen didn’t care.

After all, it’s going to be a fight!

Taking first place in the individual competition must happen.

Previously, it was for going to Lingyun Mountain, the top ten could go to Lingyun Mountain, but Ye Chen gave up on this reward, anyway, Cangxing Martial Arts Academy still had three gift slots.

Now, taking first place in the individual competition is to fulfill his promise to the immortal War Soul!

Before long, Ye Chen and others came to the edge of an area covered by a huge light curtain.

The strongman leading the way from the Martial Academy made a double-hand seal, opened this huge light curtain, and shouted, ”Enter!”

As his words fell.

Everyone’s figures flew up and rushed into the light curtain one after another.

Upon entering the light curtain.

Ye Chen found that all the people who entered with him had disappeared!

It was empty and deserted around him, leaving only himself.

It seems that this array restriction involved rules related to space.

Since there was still no one around, Ye Chen simply sat cross-legged and operated his cultivation technique to continue recovering his strength.

After about a half-quarter of time passed.

Suddenly, Ye Chen’s eyes snapped open, and he immediately stood up, with a fierce intensity surging from his body.

In front of him, at this moment, stood a man.

According to Ye Chen’s perception, this man was at the Third-Layer of Primordial Embryo Realm Cultivation, which was considered mid-level strength among those participating in the competition.

The man discovered that his first opponent was Ye Chen and felt a toothache.

So unlucky, he had no chance of winning. If it were any other opponent, even if he had no chance, he could still fight to see the gap between himself and the real prodigies.

But against Ye Chen...

Forget it...

This guy was too ruthless; once he made a move, Ye Chen’s sword would swing down, and he would get seriously injured even if he survived.

”I concede!”

The man shouted immediately, afraid that if he was a moment slower, Ye Chen’s sword would have already been unsheathed...

As he shouted to concede, a ripple rose around the space, and he was transported out.

Ye Chen didn’t think much of it, continuing to cultivate to recover the strength he had expended earlier.

Outside this gigantic array restriction.

Scenes were projected in mid-air, clearly showing everything that was happening inside to Xu Changqing and others.

At this point, these Martial Academy strongmen weren’t paying much attention; at the beginning, there wasn’t any battle worth watching.

Like Ye Chen, who won directly without making a move, there was also Han Qianshan, He Xiao, and others.

The really interesting matches would have to wait until later.

Xu Changqing’s gaze didn’t look at those five prodigies from their Emperor Star Martial Arts Academy but instead focused on Ye Chen, showing no expression change, but secretly transmitting his voice to He Dong from Cangxing Martial Arts Academy, not far away.

”Vice Dean He, Ye Chen wouldn’t have made such a request for no reason. I suspect he has come into contact with some entities in this ancient battlefield space fragment.”

He Dong also showed no abnormalities, transmitting back to Xu Changqing, ”Contact is contact, it’s not a bad thing anyway.

Dean Ouyang told me that the things here might be related to the True Martial Hall, and if Ye Chen can thereby connect with the True Martial Hall, that would be pretty good.

The world he needs, Cangxing Martial Arts Academy cannot provide, the Great Zhou Dynasty cannot provide, even the Eastern Domain cannot provide either.”

”Vice Dean He, I’m worried he’s affected by the obsessions within this space fragment. After the competition ends, you must keep a good watch on him, and if any problems are found, handle it fast to prevent any major issue.”

”Thank you, Dean Xu, for your concern. Dean Xu, you should keep an eye on this grand array to prevent anyone from tampering with it.”

And just then.

A strongman from Emperor Star Martial Arts Academy hurried over to Xu Changqing and whispered, ”Dean Xu, the Dean of Celestial Cold Martial Arts Academy from the Great Qin Dynasty has arrived...”

Xu Changqing’s expression changed.

Celestial Cold Martial Arts Academy of the Great Qin Dynasty is the most famous academy within the Great Qin territory.

The Dean of Celestial Cold Martial Arts Academy, arriving neither early nor late, but exactly at this moment... Xu Changqing’s eyes flickered, then he looked at Zhou Chengqian and said, ”Your Highness, that old thing from Celestial Cold Martial Arts Academy has come, I need to step out for a while, please kindly oversee this side.”

Zhou Chengqian smiled and said, ”Dean Xu, you’ve worked hard; I’ll take care here, please rest assured.”

Xu Changqing immediately left.

He Dong frowned slightly.

What you fear will indeed come!

With Xu Changqing here, no one dared to act under his nose, but once he left, some guys probably couldn’t wait to show their ugly faces!

At this time, in the array restriction, the second round of competition had already begun.

He Dong’s gaze was fixed on the screen displaying Ye Chen’s scene.

An opponent at the First Layer of Transcendence suddenly appeared in the scene!

He Dong clenched his fists, his heart filled with burning anger!

Xu Changqing had just left, and these people couldn’t wait to start tampering!

There were just over ten people at the Transcendence Realm in total.

Now, there were still more than 400 people left inside, paired off in matches, which meant that in over 200 matches, the probability of encountering a strongman at the Transcendence Realm was less than one-twentieth.

Though there is indeed such a probability.

But He Dong was certain that Ye Chen’s probability was manipulated by someone in the dark!

Knowing this, He Dong couldn’t say much.

At this moment.

Zhou Chengqian’s mouth showed an almost imperceptible cold smile. He transmitted his voice using spiritual power to a Martial Academy strongman present, saying, ”Arrange it this way, let Ye Chen face the Transcendence Realm in every match, exhaust his strength, and the first place in the individual competition absolutely cannot go to him!”
