Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System

Chapter 561: Chapter 210: Dr. Yan Was Frightened

”The strongest archery?

”Unfortunately, the Gong Family has always had nothing!”

Gong Ling was taken aback.

Then, she gave a somewhat melancholic smile.

Since she attended the Warring States Military Academy, a question had lingered in Gong Ling’s mind.

She knew her great-grandfather was Gong Yuzhen, the chief Arrow God of the Divine Land over a hundred years ago.

Not just in the Divine Land, even globally, there was no archer as skilled as her great-grandfather at the time.

But why did the Gong Family become so weak later?

Her grandfather was just a frustrated fifth rank, retiring early, now spending his days practicing Tai Chi Boxing in the park every morning, and dancing in the square every evening, even getting into scandals with elderly ladies, causing trouble for their children.

Her father, even more so.

Although he graduated from Awu, he was considered an academic underachiever at Wuda. If not for his strong business acumen, the Gong Family would have been even more downtrodden.

Her uncles were likewise not interested in martial arts.

After Fang Liyan explained, Gong Ling finally understood that her great-grandfather had his own intentions. He didn’t want the Gong Family descendants to continue slaughtering on the battlefield.

After a while, Gong Ling let out a bitter smile.

She could also understand that great-grandfather whom she had never met.

When great-grandfather died, the world was still engulfed in war.

Every time on the battlefield, countless people would sacrifice, and many families were directly annihilated.

If she had been born in that chaotic era, Gong Ling wouldn’t want her children to continue going into battle either.

That couldn’t be called selfishness.

Avoiding harm while pursuing benefit is a human instinct.

Once you trained in the Gong Family’s archery, you would certainly be dispatched to the battlefield by the military.

Even as great as grandpa as the chief Arrow God, he too had his arms severed by foreigners, narrowly escaping death.

After all, he was only a Martial Artist, unable to witness the later achievements of the Divine Land.

He only wanted the Gong Family descendants to live peacefully, not realizing that grandfather actually had a heart desiring strength.

Therefore, grandfather always resented great-grandfather.

But her father was different.

Lacking any grand ambitions himself, he likely understood great-grandfather’s thoughts best, perhaps even feeling grateful to him.

If archery had remained with the Gong Family, her father would never have lived so comfortably.

Of course, there was also a good chance that neither she nor her father would have been born.

Back then, grandfather lived longer, perhaps because he was weaker.

If he too had died on the battlefield, her father might never have been born.

”The Gong Family’s archery is in the tomb of your master. Do you want to see it?”

”Cough, cough, cough...”

Suddenly, Fang Liyan spoke up.

At the same time, he began to cough violently.

”Elder, are you okay?”

Gong Ling quickly patted his back in assistance. The old principal was very frail. He might have been very strong in the past, but now in his twilight years, he seemed as though he could pass away at any moment.

”I’m fine, it’s an old problem. No retired Martial Artist from the battlefield will feel comfortable... cough, cough...”

Fang Liyan’s face was sallow, but he still managed to smile weakly at Gong Ling.

Rippling sounds.

At that moment, a few medical personnel from Jiangyuan Country entered suddenly.

”Principal, it’s time for your IV therapy.”

One of the medical personnel panted heavily.

”It’s fine, give me some medicine, I still have some matters to attend to.”

Fang Liyan waved his hand dismissively.

”Principal, you...”

The medical personnel looked anxious.

”Elder, perhaps you should get your IV therapy first and discuss the matters afterward.”

Gong Ling also urged earnestly.

”I know my body, it’s internal injuries, just need some medicine.”

Fang Liyan stubbornly waved his hand, and the medical personnel had no choice but to take out medicine from the medicine box.

”You all go back, I won’t die shortly.

”In fact, these old bones of mine are already of no use, it doesn’t matter if I die.”

Fang Liyan said again to the medical personnel.

”Old Principal, if you feel unwell, call us immediately.”

Seeing that Fang Liyan had matters to attend to, the medical staff left decisively.

”Let’s go.

”Since you are a descendant of the Gong Family, whether or not you can take the chief bow, you should offer incense.”

Fang Liyan said to Gong Ling.

”Where is the tomb?”

Gong Ling asked.

Offering incense to her great-grandfather is what a descendant should do.

If possible, she thought of bringing her father and others to offer incense as well.

As for her grandfather... he might still have issues with her great-grandfather, but as she was his most beloved, she might find a way to persuade him.

”The tomb is outside Jiangwu School, outside the Jiangyuan Duke’s Tomb, I built a private tomb specifically for the master.

”Even in death, he believed he was a refugee from the Divine Land, and he didn’t wish to be buried in the Jiangyuan Duke’s Tomb, yet felt undeserving to be buried in the land of the Divine Land.

”So, I found a piece of wasteland to reluctantly bury the master.”

Fang Liyan sighed deeply.

Gong Ling did not know how to evaluate her elder.

When great-grandfather escaped from the Divine Land, great-grandfather’s father was still alive.

Maybe he really didn’t dare to return.

All Gong Ling could do was remember, she didn’t have the right to criticize or judge the actions of her elders.

”Rest assured, the tomb is very safe, you will not be in any danger.

”Moreover, you are a student of the Divine Land exchange team, there must be someone secretly guarding you, even if foreigners invade, you can still escape.”

Fang Liyan comforted her again.

He was afraid Gong Ling might be wary of him.

But after hearing Gong Ling introduce herself, mentioning she was part of the Divine Land exchange team, he was reassured.

The Divine Land today is indeed very strong.

”Elder, you worry too much!”

Gong Ling quickly smiled.

Perhaps while she was frowning, Fang Liyan misunderstood her thoughts.

In fact, after seeing Fang Liyan’s archer-like demeanor, she was not so cautious anymore.
