Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System

Chapter 361: Chapter 159: Those Years of Heroic Passion

”This name has been dead for 47 years. Back then, I was third rank, and he was fourth rank. I was not as talented as he was.

”He and I were on the second battlefield, fighting for a day and a night. When reinforcements arrived, he was literally exhausted to death. I carried his corpse back, couldn’t even see his face, just wounds everywhere.”

Walking into the cemetery, there were walls everywhere, densely engraved with names.

Wang Yetao and Su Yue walked slowly inside the white walls.

Su Yue’s face was solemn.

Suddenly, Wang Yetao stopped next to a name and said softly.

Su Yue was stunned.

He could hear some trembling in Wang Yetao’s tone, even though the latter was trying hard to conceal it.

”This name was my camp commander back then. It was supposed to be my turn for a break, and they went on an expedition.

”But I never saw him again. The entire camp’s comrades, all gone.”

Wang Yetao arrived at another name.

He narrated with very plain language, recounting the passionate years of the past.

”This person was my mortal enemy back then. He opposed me at every turn, even threatened to hire assassins to kill me.

”Unfortunately, during a Wet Realm charge, he held off the enemy alone for a full minute, aiding the retreat of over 3,000 martial artists.

”He was chopped into pieces by the enemy.

”At that time, I hated this person the most, but now... I wish he could continue to fight me, at least, for him to live.”

Wang Yetao went on to stop by over twenty names, precisely recounting his old ties with them.

These histories have a special aura.

”Su Yue, am I being a bit verbose? People get old, and it’s unavoidable to talk a lot.”

The two walked past all the hero walls, then headed outside when Wang Yetao suddenly said.

”It’s apparent they were your deeply unforgettable comrades.”

Su Yue nodded.

”Yes, in every city in the Divine Land, on every hero wall, I can find people I know.

”In our batch of soldiers, those who survived to retirement were few and far between.

”As I live longer, there’s some sorrow, I’ve even become numb.

”I really envy you young people, still full of passion.”

The two found a place to sit.

Wang Yetao looked into Su Yue’s curiously enthusiastic eyes, genuinely envious inside.

”Su Yue, I know your stories, know your bravery, but still, I hope you won’t be too impulsive in the Wet Realm in the future.

”Actually, many people on this wall didn’t have to die.

”I’ve seen seniors die before me, peers perish right in front of me, and also sent away many juniors.

”Never let your relatives and friends suffer. I’ve experienced too many partings by death, I know that feeling, sometimes the living are actually suffering more than the dead.”

Wang Yetao said with heartfelt emotion.

”General, I understand.”

Su Yue nodded solemnly.

The atmosphere was a bit heavy.

From Wang Yetao’s eyes, he could see that sorrow.

Even though he concealed it well.

”I hope so.”

Wang Yetao nodded.

He could guess that Su Yue definitely would not heed this advice, but still couldn’t help but be verbose.

At this moment, several Zhenqin Corps members arrived.

They also brought a few boxes.

”Here is the Marquis medal of Jiangyuan Country, and the official appointment letter.

”From now on, you are the honorary marquis of Jiangyuan Country, theoretically the emperor’s brother.

”But there’s no real power, you can enter all scenic areas in Jiangyuan Country for free, stay in hotels without paying, oh yes, all expenses in Jiangyuan Country, as long as not too excessive, theoretically can be reimbursed by Jiangyuan Country.

”Regarding the Yangxiang Race incident, Jiangyuan Country has irrefutable responsibility, but this small country also has nothing worth compensating, this honorary title serves as a sort of remembrance.

”This is Jiangyuan Country’s personal compensation to you.”

When Wang Yetao finished speaking, Su Yue picked up the medal from the box.

Marquis?

Emperor’s brother?

The identity is quite ostentatious.

Su Yue knew some of Jiangyuan Country’s history, although Jiangyuan Country also had a governmental meeting system, it was different from the Divine Land, this country still had crown princes.

Of course.

The crown prince had no real power, it was just a clock-in job.

In many small countries, there is such a position.

And Su Yue never expected, he is now a prince.

In the future, going to Jiangyuan Country, wouldn’t he be walking on air?

Although without real power, people in Jiangyuan Country are still very respectful toward crown princes.

This is a nice reward, quite rare.

”Your two choice beast hides have been made into a total of 14 Beast Selection Waist Bags.

”According to the Divine Land spoils acquisition law, you can have 3 Beast Selection Waist Bags, or you may choose to take academic credits.”

Wang Yetao asked again.

”I want the Beast Selection Waist Bags.”

Su Yue didn’t even think.

Things like Beast Selection Waist Bags, the more the better, in case he encounters something in the Wet Realm in the future, more bags mean more room to carry things.

As for academic credits.

This undercover task, the Zhenqin Corps would definitely not give too less.

”Alright, that’s possible!”

Wang Yetao nodded.

”Thank you for bringing back the choice beast hides; all corps need them greatly.”

Wang Yetao thanked again.

Regarding Su Yue’s choice of Beast Selection Waist Bags, he wasn’t surprised.

After all, academic credits can be earned, but Beast Selection Waist Bags are not ordinary items, sometimes you can’t buy them even with money.

”This task, the academic credit reward given by the Military Department to you is 100,000, not much, but the Divine Land has strict legal provisions, the Zhenqin Corps has already maximized the effort in securing it.”

Wang Yetao said again.

”Hmm, no problem.”

Su Yue nodded.

100,000 academic credits is actually not short.

In the Divine Land, people sacrifice in wars every day, the distribution of condolence payments is a big expenditure, he could understand.

Furthermore, before deciding to go undercover, the Zhenqin Corps had already carefully calculated the task remuneration, Wang Yetao did work hard.

”As for the batch of medicine materials, I’ve already secured 10,000 academic credits from the Elixir Group for you.

”Actually, you arrived a bit late, those spirit medicines had already been sprinkled with poison by the Yangxiang Race’s evil disciples, most can’t be used, it’s quite a pity.”

Wang Yetao said again.

”Sprinkled with poison?”

Su Yue froze.

Then, he sighed.

Indeed, the cunning of the Yangxiang Race is ever-refreshing to one’s understanding.

Seemingly a bunch of honest first-rank evil disciples, yet they were the first to destroy medicine during the chaos, simply harboring malicious intent.

Should kill.

All Yangxiang Race should be killed.

”Also, the generation tree bark has been handed over to Qingwu Ding Beitu according to your opinion, for him to give priority in handling.”

”The reward credits for the generation tree bark are temporarily set at 10,000 credits. After all, those items don’t have specific value.”

Wang Yetao explained again.

”Mm, alright, thank you, General.”

Su Yue nodded.

For this undercover mission, I received a total of 120,000 credits, which really isn’t a small amount.

”This is what you most desired, the war medals.”

”One for the successful undercover mission.”

”One for discovering four secret ritual points and sending people to destroy them, thereby rescuing Zhiwu.”

”One for annihilating the Banner Garrison Camp.”

Wang Yetao placed three war medals in front of Su Yue.

This scene made several officers behind Wang Yetao’s eyes burn with envy.

War medals.

Each time one is awarded, the Military Department is extremely cautious.

And Su Yue, this freshman, received three at once.

They couldn’t help but be envious.

”Thank you.”

Su Yue’s eyes lit up.

War medals.

This was what he longed for.

With these three, now he has seven.

Although still far from 1,000 medals, Su Yue believes that hard work will be rewarded.

Sooner or later, he can rescue his father.

”These are the rewards for this undercover operation. If you have any objections, feel free to call me anytime.”

”Honestly speaking, even I envy you. When I was young, I wasn’t as glamorous as you, haha.”

Wang Yetao smiled.

He had already left Su Yue a direct phone line.

”Haha, this is indeed something everyone should envy.”

Su Yue joked, then continued seriously:

”Thank you, General. These rewards should be rightfully mine, I won’t shy away.”

”But ultimately, these are external possessions. Compared to those heroes who have already sacrificed themselves, at least I’m still alive.”

”I have no objections.”

Su Yue said seriously.

Material rewards have the laws of the Divine Land, all soldiers are the same.

In reality, everyone feels their contributions are great and the Military Department’s rewards are few.

But Martial Artists are not merchants, their mission should not be to haggle over every detail.

If one is overly concerned with these material bounties, they might as well retire and become a Qi and Blood Martial Artist, and go into business.

This is why soldiers value medals even more.

”I know you are eager to accumulate medals, to exchange for Prince Qing’s freedom, but after all, you have not fully grown. Do everything within your means.”

Wang Yetao advised.

He didn’t mention Su Qingfeng’s affairs in the fourth battlefield, there was no need to worry Su Yue.

”Mm, thank you for your concern, General. I understand.”

Su Yue nodded again.

”You are now at the second rank. Once your mentor agrees, you can go to the Wet Realm Battlefield, which was once the second battlefield where Prince Qing dominated. You should do well there.”

”Keep working hard, young man.”

Wang Yetao stood up.

He had many trivial matters to plan upon leaving, and Su Yue should return to West Martial too.

”Mm, definitely.”

”By the way, General, how is Wang Nanguo?”

Su Yue asked another question.

”He has already broken through to Grandmaster and has made great achievements this time. His future will be promising.”

”As for whether he will become a Major General in the Military Department or stay in the government as an Inspector, it all depends on his choice.”

After Wang Yetao finished speaking, he bade farewell to Su Yue.

Perhaps the conversation site was too solemn, Su Yue always felt that Wang Yetao had many heavy burdens in his brow, his heart was definitely tired, and he seemed not to particularly enjoy the position of Major General.

Whereas his father-in-law seemed much more open-minded, clearly enjoying the position of Major General.

Su Yue could even feel that Mu Jingliang wanted to try being Marshal.

Fan City entrusted the Zhenqin Corps to bring some rewards of gratitude, just some elixir money, though not much, it was better than nothing.

After all, this operation was fully handled by the Zhenqin Corps, Fan City didn’t allocate funds, so there was no surplus.

The Zhenqin Corps’ vehicle personally took Su Yue to West Martial.

...

After a round of rushing around, Su Yue finally returned.

West Martial!

The familiar West Martial Gate still stood majestic and grand, Su Yue unexpectedly had a feeling of a lifetime apart.

The little security guard at the entrance was still the same, liking to leer at female students.

Inside, everything was unchanged.

Nothing is more beautiful than the human world.

Hoping this peace will last forever.

Half a month’s dark and sunless undercover life made Su Yue feel like several years had passed.

Just as he stepped into West Martial, Su Yue wanted to shout: I’m Hu Hansan, back again.

Darn.

Unexpectedly, an old nemesis approached head-on.

Xiang Jing Mountain.

When he was choosing classes, he openly argued with this guy.

This vice principal obviously did not get along with him.

Was he here to cause trouble?

What a bad omen.

At this time, many teachers and students came and went, curiously watching Xiang Jing Mountain and Su Yue.

Was a conflict about to happen?

Su Yue had mysteriously disappeared for half a month, Xiang Jing Mountain was vice principal responsible for freshmen, was he going to settle scores post-factum?

Mu Cheng rushed over in a hurry.

Xiang Jing Mountain might not know about Su Yue going undercover, she helped explain things for Su Yue.

There was a somewhat tense atmosphere.

Xiang Jing Mountain stared fixedly at Su Yue.

And Su Yue neither could go nor stand.

”Su Yue, thank you.”

Suddenly, Xiang Jing Mountain nodded slightly to Su Yue.

His relative was among the batch of captives Su Yue rescued.
