Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System

Chapter 360: Chapter 158: Where the Heart Leads, Duty Guards

Su Yue rested for a while, and the doctor arrived!

After a thorough examination, the doctor informed Su Yue that there was nothing serious, and he could be discharged at any time.

After the doctor left, Su Yue turned on his phone.

There were quite a few messages, most of them were voicemails.

Xu Baiyan’s message: Brother, remember to call me when you wake up. North Martial has urgent matters, so I can’t accompany you. I’m so worried about you!

Yang Lezhi: Brother-in-law, your sister is up to something, I need to protect her. Call me when you turn on your phone.

Bai Xiaolong: Su Yue, I’m going to the Wetlands, we’ll meet up when I’m free.

Mu Cheng: The doctor said you’re fine, you’ll wake up after some rest. I’m waiting for you at West Martial.

Zhou Yuncan: Su Yue, the ambulance from Renqing Province arrived in Fan City. Instructor Dai and the others went back, and I’m going back to Nanwu for now. See you later.

Wang Lu Feng: The doctor said you’re not badly injured, so I won’t accompany you to receive the award. I’m prone to jealousy, accompanying my dad to recover first.

After reading the messages, Su Yue let out a sigh of relief.

Not everyone made a special trip, which is actually a good thing.

I’m just exhausted, a good sleep will do. If someone went through the trouble to visit me, it would feel awkward.

Actually, in the Divine Land, whenever someone returns from the Wetlands, they’re always injured all over. Unless there are near-fatal injuries, no one specifically goes to the hospital to visit.

It’s not about not caring, it’s just that injuries are countless, and it’s impossible to run to everyone.

After all, everyone is very busy.

Besides, hospitals are places for patients to recuperate and heal. If visitors keep coming in and out, it would be troublesome for the patients. The hospital bustling like a market is completely unnecessary.

Caring for patients, medical staff are the professionals.

Su Yue changed into his own clothes and left the hospital that night.

He had slept for so long that he felt a bit numb.

As for any rewards, it would probably take some time to tally up, so Su Yue wasn’t in a hurry. The Zhenqin Corps wouldn’t forget him.

Tomorrow morning, I’ll return to West Martial.

After finishing the remaining two auxiliary battle techniques with Master Sima, I’ll prepare to go to the Wetlands without delay. I’m already at the second grade, totally qualified.

Su Yue was hungry and found a late-night food stall, starting to eat heartily.

He didn’t call Xu Baiyan and the others, figuring they were catching up on sleep. He’d call them later.

Suddenly, Su Yue felt nostalgic for the days spent with Flower Bear and the others, chatting and joking together.

He made the call!

Indeed, Flower Bear hadn’t slept yet. After all, he became a regular person and wouldn’t be that stressed.

”Master Su, why aren’t you sleeping in the middle of the night? Is it time to change your underwear? Young people are full of energy.”

On the other end of the line, it was noisy, suggesting that Flower Bear’s business was doing well.

”Master Su, how’s life at West Martial? Have you been bullied? Have you advanced? How many meridians have you unlocked?

”Don’t be worse than me, Flower Bear. I unlocked 11 meridians back then, a feat of epic proportions.”

There was no chance for Su Yue to respond. The barrage of questions from Flower Bear was like a machine gun, endless.

”Su Yue, don’t listen to Boss Flower Bear’s nonsense. He’s just bragging.

”Are you about to go to the battlefield at West Martial? Boss Flower Bear always talks about you, hoping you stay safe. We old comrades all hope you’re safe.

”Boss Flower Bear always boasts, saying you’re a student of the Four Great Martial Academies, sure to unlock 25 meridians. He tells everyone he’s friends with a West Martial student.

”Su Yue, we all miss you.”

Halfway through, Old Zhao took the phone from Flower Bear.

”Don’t worry, I’m doing well. Let Flower Bear know too.”

Su Yue was eating skewers, feeling inexplicably warm inside.

These were all first-grade martial artists from the bottom rung. Flower Bear’s Martial Arts Network account didn’t even have access to watch Su Yue’s Zhiwu broadcasts.

Everything here was completely closed to them.

But they seemed to be living peacefully.

Hearing Flower Bear repeatedly mention him, Su Yue felt a bit moved.

”Master Su, you’re the pride of our group, I’m happy, haha.”

Flower Bear shouted over the phone, clearly joyful.

”Old Zhao, give the phone to Flower Bear.”

Su Yue said.

”Hey, Master Su, honestly, have you really unlocked 25 meridians? Don’t lie to me, we had an agreement back then that you’d tell me your progress truthfully.”

Flower Bear asked mysteriously.

Indeed.

When Su Yue left the boxing club, he had an agreement with Flower Bear.

If there’s time, Su Yue would truthfully tell Flower Bear his progress.

This was exchanged for 20 martial arts movies by Flower Bear.

”I’ve unlocked 70 meridians now, I’m at the second grade.

”You all live well, no need to worry about me, everything’s fine.”

Su Yue smiled.

There was no need to hide anything from Flower Bear.

In fact, Su Yue didn’t want Uncle and the others to worry, but Flower Bear was an exception.

In the past, Flower Bear also promised to keep Su Yue’s progress confidential.

Bam!

Su Yue suddenly heard Flower Bear smash a bottle of wine on the other end of the line.

”Everyone listen up, be quiet and listen carefully... today’s meal is on me, everything’s on the house.

”Anyone who dares to pay, I’ll kill him.

”Haha, I’m happy!”

Su Yue hung up the phone.

Flower Bear must be going crazy.

The wounds on him still ached a bit.

The nearby night market was bustling, with people coming and going.

Su Yue had a smile on his face as he looked at the neon lights on the streets, feeling an inexplicable sense of warmth, or perhaps... a sense of mission.

That’s right.

Just like the countless soldiers fighting to the death in the darkest places, this sense of mission emerged from within.

We risk our lives in pitch-black darkness so that everyone can drink under the neon lights all night long.

We shed blood under the enemy’s knives and guns to ensure the peace in the city.

This is the sense of mission.

Every light in the skyscrapers is guarded by us.

Every smile, every piece of love in this city is protected by my hands.

Su Yue couldn’t imagine, if the Yangxiang Race succeeded, what would Fan City look like, and how many families would be torn apart.

How many of those flickering lights would be extinguished forever.

”Protect the nation.”

Su Yue murmured to himself.

So, this is the feeling.

Protecting the country, protecting loved ones, protecting friends.

The peace of countless households is what martial artists in this era strive for.

It is the mission cherished by the generation of fathers!

So, this is the fulfillment of a mission.

No wonder Dad never regretted it, he never regretted sacrificing for the Divine Land even when imprisoned.

Uncle lost both legs, yet still insists on fending for himself, unwilling to burden the Divine Land.

So this is the light in their hearts.

Su Yue settled the bill and wandered aimlessly along the street, and unknowingly, he reached the Martyrs’ Honor Wall of Fan City.

Soldiers who sacrificed in the Wetland will leave their honor here; this is their final resting place.

Dawn had already broken.

Outside the gate of the mausoleum, the ceremonial guard of the Zhenqin Corps stood watch.

Their uniforms were neat, their expressions solemn.

The ceremonial guard is not composed of martial artists; it’s a special unit of the Zhenqin Corps responsible for various ceremonial and guarding tasks across the Divine Land, since martial artists are scarce and can’t be wasted on these positions.

But these ordinary soldiers are equally great.

They occasionally engage in engineering tasks for training, and they also wish to break through as martial artists to truly safeguard the nation.

At this time, people already started coming to the mausoleum for memorial rituals, likely the families of the heroic spirits.

Su Yue saw a family, likely also here to pay homage to the heroic spirits.

But this family did not enter the mausoleum.

Instead, they just stood far away, motionless, looking at a ceremonial soldier standing guard.

”Brother, when I get to high school, I’ll definitely get into Wuda, I’ll definitely fulfill your wish, I’ll become a martial artist.”

Suddenly, a boy, appearing to be in middle school, shouted from within the family.

”Quiet, this is the Heroic Spirit Mausoleum, don’t disturb their rest.

”Your brother is standing guard and can’t speak to you.”

The father patted the boy’s shoulder, his tone particularly stern.

The middle schooler wore a determined expression.

The ceremonial post is about 50 meters away from the road, in a restricted zone where ordinary people are not allowed to enter.

Su Yue glanced at these ceremonial soldiers.

Indeed.

One young man, though standing like a pine tree, gazing straight ahead, maintaining a solemn expression, showed a hint of redness in his eyes deep down, as Su Yue noticed.

”Xiaoyong, your little brother still has to attend school, there’s not enough time, we’ll come back to see you in a few days.”

Checking the time, the family eventually left, looking back every few steps.

Throughout it all, the ceremonial soldier didn’t have time to say a word to his family.

To prevent infiltration by the Yangxiang Sect and vandalism of the heroes’ tombstones, the ceremonial guards are under closed management, with a 5-year service period and are unable to reunite with their families.

This is also a form of sacrifice.

Even without entering the Wetland, there are still those dedicating their youth.

After a while.

An adult led a kindergarten child past.

Suddenly, the child broke free from the adult’s hand and dashed across to the opposite side of the mausoleum gate, assuming a solemn expression and saluting sincerely.

”Dad, the kindergarten teacher said we must never forget these great soldiers.

”It’s because of them that we have good food and drink.”

The child earnestly and solemnly spoke.

”Yes, never forget them for a lifetime.”

The child’s parent quickly echoed.

”Su Yue, let’s go in and take a look.”

Suddenly, a stern-faced elder appeared beside Su Yue.

”Who are you?”

Su Yue was taken aback.

A master!

This is definitely a master; he appeared silently beside me without any notice.

”My name is Wang Yetao.”

Wang Yetao nodded.

The hospital informed the Zhenqin Corps that Su Yue had been discharged, and Wang Yetao also planned to contact him by phone during the day.

Unexpectedly, he encountered Su Yue at the Heroic Spirit Mausoleum.

To be honest, this was Wang Yetao’s first time truly meeting Su Yue.

Previously, due to being busy with matters in the Southern Imperial Capital, Su Yue’s undercover actions were handled by subordinates.

Yesterday the situation in the Southern Imperial Capital just concluded, and Wang Yetao hurriedly rushed to Fan City.

He had to personally see Su Yue.

”You are...”

Su Yue was dumbfounded.

What a coincidence, Wang Yetao—that’s the Grand General of the Zhenqin Corps!

Same rank as Mu Jingliang, the Grand General.

Title... Prince Tuo.

”Let’s go, pay our respects to the heroic spirits first.”

Wang Yetao patted Su Yue’s shoulder, then took the lead towards the gate of the mausoleum.

Su Yue nodded.

Actually, this was Wang Yetao’s habit.

As a Grand General in the Zhenqin Corps, he often travels between cities.

In every city he visits, Wang Yetao would pay his respects at the mausoleum in the early morning; it’s already a routine.

Wang Yetao didn’t expect to meet Su Yue here.

Being able to remember the heroic spirits is the mark of a kind-hearted young man.

At this moment.

Apart from gratitude towards Su Yue, Wang Yetao also felt a growing fondness for him.
