Bear School Astartes

Margaret looked at Lann as if she wanted to swallow him whole.

Tishaya, on the other hand, didn’t mind at all, and even kindly reminded her student.

”It takes over ten minutes to walk from here to the bedroom. Or are you planning to run through the academy hallways like a wild girl who hasn’t even finished her etiquette classes?”

The Demon Hunter was stony-faced, his head buried in a messy and mundane pile of documents, pretending not to hear the heart-chilling words of the two female warlocks in the room.

”Humph.” Margaret’s laughter sounded muffled within the wine glass, but she quickly put the glass down.

”Why should I waste those precious ten minutes? Can’t we just do it here?”

”Today, we’re going to tear this office apart! I’ve been wanting to change the style for a long time, woo-hoo!”

Margaret let out a little cheer of excitement at the end.

It was only then that Tishaya showed a hint of surprise, turning to scrutinize her student before taking a look at the solidly built furniture in the dean’s office.

Margaret was dressed in a bright deep V-back gown, perfectly complementing her exquisite face that suits heavy makeup, able to carry off those flamboyant colors.

Her voluptuous figure even made the dress fabric tight in some ’appropriate’ places, making the material appear constrained.

The dress’s side slit went up to the mid-thigh, revealing skin-color intricate lace mesh.

Though the outfit was dazzling, at least it was being worn properly.

But Tishaya always felt... Margaret had a look like she could ’tear off the obstructive disguise’ at any moment, like a female leopard whose paws have already escaped from the cushion, ready to hunt.

”Wow.” Upon closer inspection, Tishaya raised one eyebrow, speaking subtly. ”Honestly, I’m a bit tempted to stay and see what you all plan to do.”

”Next time, Tishaya.” Margaret flashed a dismissive smile, ”When we’re in the mood.”

The former dean chuckled lightly, neither affirming nor denying, and walked out.

Meanwhile, a burst of magic power carried the bewildered Elu Cat, who was holding a pile of snacks, out of the room as well.

-----------------

The next day, Airetusa’s logistics department received news that the furniture and decor in the dean’s office were severely damaged due to a magic incident.

Repairing was deemed meaningless, so they decided to replace everything.

Of course, this was a very official report.

The rumors circulating among the female sorcerer apprentices and teachers were more subtle.

For example, there was clear news that the Demon Hunter had returned to Airetusa yesterday and was seen walking with the dean.

Additionally, early in the morning, someone saw the dean return to the bedroom wearing only a shirt, looking unsteady and flushed but humming happily.

This was a rare expression on Margaret’s face since she had been busy lately.

Moreover, the female sorcerers weren’t novices anymore. They knew well how this physiologically affected psychological health smile came about.

Overall... the apprentices and teachers privately exchanged knowing smiles.

And the Demon Hunter, freshly showered with water droplets still hanging from his hair, had already arrived at the crystal cultivation project research lab.

Tishaya and Philixia Koli had long started their daily research projects and record keeping here.

For pioneering scientific research, not every day shows progress with significant advancement.

Like the previous experiments led by Lann, breaking through from cell differentiation, proliferation to organs.

Or the achievements of the Kovir Mage, who raised the precision of cell proliferation by a magnitude.

These were major breakthroughs that were hard to come by.

And during the daily routine without such breakthroughs, scientific research was relatively just tedious patchwork.

The academic leaders forged ahead, overcoming the original dilemmas, leaving the repetitive work to others naturally.

Just as Lann had first completed the cultivation from cells to the heart, laying the theoretical foundation for ’cultivating organs from highly differentiated cells.’

Then in the subsequent theoretical practice, how to cultivate a liver, an eye, a gallbladder?

These are the filling contents within the theoretical framework he built, lacking in innovation yet indispensable and very tedious.

And this is the kind of thing Philixia Koli, a researcher in the second tier, has to do.

To put it bluntly, it’s a bit like ’academic masonry,’ but without their massive repetitive work, a theoretical framework wouldn’t be solid.

For instance, during Lann’s trip, Philixia completed research on the cultivation of the human scapula.

And produced a paper smoothly.

Nowadays, Philixia Koli is considered somewhat famous in Airetusa’s alumni circles.

Everyone knows this previously overlooked female sorcerer apprentice, having chosen the right project and persisted, finally sees the light at the end of the tunnel, publishing papers as fluently as binge-drinking and retching.

The previously struggling and slow-progressing crystal cultivation project has made astonishing strides in recent years.

Philixia was considered the epitome of ’rising alongside the chicken and dogs,’ and her experiences even sparked quite a buzz among female sorcerer apprentices.

The difficulty for female sorcerer apprentices to graduate from Airetusa is not low.

Their studies at the school are naturally rigorous, and after completing all courses, they also have to find already graduated female warlock alumnae to conduct several years of internships beside them.

Yennefer, Philippa Eilhart, and Triss... They are well-known alumnae of Airetusa.

In view of the current understanding of the concept of ’apprentice’ in this Magic Middle Ages society, female sorcerers who have not yet graduated are basically treated as servants or domestic helpers under them.

This is unrelated to the famous female sorcerers’ personalities or moral standards; it’s simply an outcome influenced subtly by societal customs.

Yet, the apprentice positions under these famous female sorcerers are still in high demand, fervently pursued.

Because the mentor’s fame through the mentor-apprentice relationship is extended to the apprentice. This presents a significant advantage for most female sorcerers wanting to venture into the court.

Kings also prefer famous warlocks, don’t they?

As for Philixia Koli, she was basically recognized as the one who would be personally taught by Master Tishaya.

Not because of her exceptional talent, but simply due to having worked together in experiments so much that they have already become well acquainted in terms of work, making Tishaya find her handy.

”Don’t need to rest a bit more, Master Lann?”

In the laboratory, Philixia, holding a recording board, saw the Demon Hunter with water droplets on his silver hair and smiled.

Her tone carried a playful tease.

She became quite lively once she got familiar with Lann.

”Haha~” The Demon Hunter was emotionless and indifferent, merely elongating his laugh perfunctorily.

”Who do you think is the one so tired that they need rest right now, ignorant Philixia?”

The female sorcerer apprentice raised her hands, pouted, and conceded immediately, ”My mistake.”

Master Tishaya didn’t show any reaction to their interaction, merely focused on the lab’s desk and looked through the experiment records one by one.

”Do you have any new ideas?”

Tishaya glanced up at Lann who was walking over.

”You don’t come as diligently when there’s no progress.”

Lann shrugged, unable to argue.

He approached the desk where Tishaya was and handed over a piece of parchment filled with annotations and hand-drawn images.

Tishaya raised her eyebrows as she received it.

Judging by Lann’s marked scale, this organ belongs to the category of very small organs, able to attach to the walls of blood vessels.

And on the three-view drawing hand-drawn by Lann, Tishaya could clearly see the intricate internal structure of the organ upon enlargement.

”Wow...” Philixia stretched her neck over to look, mouth agape, unsure whether she was amazed by the ingenious thought behind the organ’s design or the lifelike drawing skill.

”What’s this thing for?”

Tishaya put the parchment in front of her and tilted her head to ask the Demon Hunter.

”It’s my attempt at blood.” Lann folded his arms, speaking with interest, ”I want to see if the blood could become more ’efficient.’

The parchment displayed an organ outlined with ink, blending geometric strictness and biological beautification.

The old and weathered texture of the parchment intertwined with the supreme biotechnology illustration on the paper.

’The human enhancement surgical organ drawn with a quill on parchment’

Whatever others felt, Lann didn’t know, but he always had a feeling of engrossing confusion and interest when he drew it.

[Blood Reconstructive Organ].

According to the surgical standard procedure of Primaris Space Marines, this stage of the surgery occurs after completing the ’Primaris three stages.’

Thanks to Old Tom who extracted the surgery knowledge from the gene seed’s millennia of memory, passing it to Lann’s mind.

Now he already has a complete and clear understanding of Interstellar Warrior enhancement procedures, unlike before where only parts were displayed before him like a glimpse of a leopard through a tube.

This efficient and precise micro-organ would be implanted into a main blood vessel in Lann’s body.

It primarily serves two functions.

First: This enhancement organ can monitor the previously implanted [Bone Enhancement Organ] and [Muscle Enhancement Organ]. When there are issues in the operation of these two organs, the changes in blood caused by the [Blood Reconstructive Organ] will be more easily detected promptly.

This process is chiefly handled by Pharmacists among the Interstellar Warriors in the Human Empire, identifying blood abnormalities then using various technologies and potions to manually intervene on the first two enhancement organs, ensuring normal operation and troubleshooting.

However, in Lann’s case, Mentos has actually been monitoring the main body’s physical data comprehensively for a long time.

The observation and quantification capabilities of the biochemical intelligence are superior to this design.
