Bear School Astartes

But compared to the opponents these Niflgaard people face, they are actually no different from those villagers who were slaughtered and executed...

The ’human shield’ in hand blocked the first wave of arrows.

These Niflgaard soldiers, even in this sudden panic, maintained segmented shooting, which can be considered extremely well-trained.

The time difference between the two waves of arrows was barely two seconds.

And this time was more than enough for Lann to carry out the planned action.

”Hoo—boom!!!”

Single-handedly grasping the head and face of a Niflgaard soldier, waving his arm, this weight of at least over a hundred kilograms including armor was like a wet towel in Lann’s hand!

The currently active [Muscle Enhancement Organ] combined with the mature [Bone Enhancement Organ], Lann’s strength was rushing towards that of a finished Interstellar Warrior!

The second wave of arrows was swung open mid-air by this ’towel’, then released. With a whistling sound, the mass of over a hundred kilograms slammed horizontally into the chest of another Niflgaard soldier!

Behind him was a thick tree trunk, pinning the flung soldier between it and himself.

This allowed the impact to be fully absorbed by his body.

”Puaaah!”

Perhaps his rib broke, or maybe his organs burst; whichever it was, the soldier couldn’t help but spew out a mouthful of blood.

The blood left a viscous trace on their shiny black armor.

In an instant, three soldiers had already lost combat capability.

A fifth of their men down.

If on an official battlefield, this level of personnel loss could already cause a complete collapse of a campaign.

But Lann slaughtered too quickly.

So fast that the fear of the death of comrades and allies hadn’t even entered the minds of the remaining soldiers.

On the other hand, these Niflgaard soldiers inherently held a sense of superiority over the Northern People.

Although this might have been their first time stepping onto Northern soil and meeting Northern people, they had been indoctrinated for long in Niflgaard.

’Northern People are backward,’ ’Northern People are superstitious and ignorant’... and so on.

Their sense of superiority made them subconsciously resist surrendering when facing Northern People.

Thus, the resistance continued.

This was exactly what Lann wanted, because... he never intended to leave any survivors.

The third wave of arrows, after Lann threw out the soldier in his hand and killed another Niflgaard person, finally found his new position after moving!

But as those arrowheads, reflecting tiny sparkles in the firelight, rushed towards Lann...

”Tzing!”

A clear silver light flowed out like molten mercury from the Demon Hunter’s waist!

This narrow silver light flashed a winding and smooth trajectory mid-air, then the twinkling arrowheads were directly deflected amid a series of ’ding-ding-dang-dang’ clinks!

This scene was so impactful for the Niflgaard soldiers that it was enough to leave them breathless!

What was this considered?

They had encountered targets where arrows were ineffective, and their military training taught them how to respond to such situations.

Niflgaard’s army was renowned for dominating half the continent. The entire southern part of the continent was conquered and suppressed, with the Empire’s power established on this unparalleled army.

They prided themselves as world hegemons, considering themselves peerless and invincible in the world.

They had a complete military industrial system, an excellent combat command system, and down to each soldier, detailed and practical training procedures.

In contrast, the Northern barbarians were like monkeys who just learned ironworking, wrapping themselves in iron sheets and holding an iron stick!

But now...

The Niflgaard soldiers couldn’t help but recall, what were they trained for?

What to do when facing an enemy’s large shield, how to handle well-protected siege machines, even how to respond to a Warlock’s magic shield.

But...

No one had taught them what to do when facing someone who used a sword, speed, reflexes, and physical prowess to deflect six or seven arrows!

This represented the enemy’s comprehensive superiority over them!

The Southern people had dismissed the existence of many monsters as fairy tales, thus had seldom seen the Demon Hunters who eradicate these creatures.

And even if they had encountered Demon Hunters, they had never seen one like Lann.

It takes a rare talent to remain calm and perform extraordinarily in unprecedented crises.

The vast majority’s performance in dire situations depends on the effort put into their daily training.

So army training was divided into many subjects and indicators to cope with complex and ever-changing battlefield environments.

But obviously, dealing with an enemy like Lann... the Niflgaard Army had never made such a plan.

As a result, their ostensibly unparalleled troop quality across the continent became unremarkable, and there was no manifest performance.

Let alone targeting.

The Niflgaard people were bewildered, or rather, they didn’t even have time to be bewildered before they were going to die.

”Tzing!”

The gleaming silver blade flashed, and a soldier’s fine armor was like nothing before Aron’s blade.

His right wrist was chopped off, along with a gaping wound large enough to fit a hand on the right side of his waist, slashed by the swiftly moving Lann!

His companion standing beside him only suddenly realized, after the warm blood in the cold air splashed onto his face, that the person next to him had already fallen with a wail!

By the time this Niflgaard soldier tried desperately to catch sight of the assailant, he could only see the tail of a shadow.

Lann’s rapid, powerful footsteps even lifted patches of the sod he stepped on.

The maximum they saw was the roots of sod flying in mid-air.

Next, their comrades fell one after another.

The air blade flowing on the sword’s edge carried out large amounts of blood, which quickly became cold and sticky in the chilly environment.

This forest clearing quickly became layered with fresh blood!

The remaining Niflgaard soldiers, their military boots making ’plop’ sounds in the pool of their comrades’ blood.

”This isn’t right... This isn’t right... Monster!”

The Niflgaard people began murmuring frantically, then shouted and screamed.

These sounds twisted into grotesque howls by the surrounding bizarre tree branches, further terrifying them.

Lann flashed eight times among them, in their line of sight, within their reach, taking away eight comrades without resistance.

Fifteen people, four remained.

Finally, Lann, who had stopped, stood on one side of them.

Positioning his feet into a forward bow and rear horse stance, his long blade returned to its sheath, left hand pressing the scabbard mouth, and his right hand holding the hilt gently.

In front of him, these four had formed a line.
