Bear School Astartes

After placing the stone blocks of the Ancient Elf and the anti-magic gold bomb in position, Lann came to the side of Margaret’s bathtub.

The female warlock always had a taste for enjoying life. A wooden plank was laid across the tub, holding fresh fruits, seafood scarce in winter, and a bottle of Afroues red wine from Toussaint.

The Demon Hunter picked up the wine bottle and poured the chilled expensive beverage into the warlock’s already empty glass.

Drinking a mouthful of a cold drink while soaking in a hot bath must be extremely comforting.

Margaret casually rested the elbows of both arms on the edge of the bath behind her, unabashedly displaying her striking body.

Picking up the glass Lann had filled for her, the female warlock looked up at those amber cat eyes.

”Let me guess... you need my help with something?”

”You could say that.”

Faced with Lann’s smile, Margaret never really had a way to refuse.

She also quite enjoyed the feeling of being asked for help by Lann.

So she brought the glass to her lips and took a sip, using it to hide the smile at the corner of her mouth.

”Tell me, dear?”

”I need to go fetch some people from Sintra.”

As soon as Lann finished saying those words calmly, the atmosphere in the entire room suddenly became heavy!

”Get out.” Margaret set down the glass, speaking in a tone that brooked no argument.

”Rita...”

”Get out!” The female warlock’s voice trembled with anger.

”Take your ridiculous and childish idea and get out! Don’t mention another word to me!”

The glass in her hand and the fine wine within were recklessly smashed to the floor by Margaret, emitting a ’crash’ of shattering.

After throwing the objects, Margaret’s ample chest heaved violently. She glared at Lann as if she was going to swallow him alive.

But the Demon Hunter remained calm, leaning against the wall silently since the female warlock started to lose her temper.

Only when her breathing gradually steadied did he speak again.

”I have a few friends trapped in there, I can’t just ignore it.”

Margaret looked deeply at Lann.

”That is a warzone, the most complex and dangerous place of this war! Do you understand?”

In the face of Margaret’s calmer questioning, Lann’s tone remained composed, yet unwavering.

”I can’t just ignore them.”

The atmosphere sank into silence again, as the female warlock and the Demon Hunter stared at each other, neither backing down.

”Damn it...” Finally, Margaret lowered her head and cursed angrily. ”I just can’t stop you, can I? It was like this before, and it’s still like this now!”

This outburst was almost equivalent to consent.

And Lann, as the target of her ire, could only shrug helplessly.

”Look on the bright side... I’m just going to the battlefield to fetch a few people; I shouldn’t get too entangled.”

”As long as the Niflgaard army is half as good as they claim in their propaganda... no, even if only a quarter as good, this rescue shouldn’t be too difficult.”

Lann reassured Margaret.

”After all, we are Demon Hunters, neutral monster slayers since ancient times. As long as the Niflgaardians don’t massacre civilians, why would they trouble us?”

Margaret watched Lann smile and muttered softly, ”Let’s hope so...”

”Let’s hope so.”

-----------------

At the end of the conversation, Margaret still kicked the Demon Hunter out the door.

She couldn’t change Lann’s decision, and she didn’t understand why this guy insisted on jumping into the pit that others were desperately trying to escape.

Though it’s one of the reasons she was drawn to the Demon Hunter, it didn’t stop her from giving Lann a hard time.

And in the end, Lann even requested access to the crystal cultivation project’s laboratory from her.

Now, both sides of the Yaruga River were in chaos. Though Airetusa’s academy might not yet be affected, the tension permeated among the female sorcerer apprentices.

The apprentices in class were distracted, and interactions and laughter in the corridors became rushed, as if everyone just wanted to quickly return to their bedrooms, seeking some insignificant comfort in a place of rest.

The high-end laboratory, which once required numerous hands for cleaning and maintenance, now only maintained the minimum level of upkeep.

Everyone seemed busy, yet like headless flies, they had no idea what exactly they were busy with.

Of course, it’s possible these people were just using busyness to vent their inner unease, without expecting any goal from their efforts.

Fortunately, Lann’s knowledge and operational skills were sufficient for him to complete his ’small project’.

Fresh rune cloth was laid on the magic array, with flawless crystal plates from Airetusa Academy’s logistics department pressing down on the rune cloth.

And Lann stared blankly ahead, muttering something under his breath.

”Calculation results... form control...”

”Is the model construction complete, Mentos?”

”Completed, sir. I will now project the full image onto your retina.”

With the Demon Hunter’s communication with the biological intelligence brain, a sphere-like organ, the size of a ping-pong ball, appeared on his retina.

The squirming flesh resembled the evil bio-engineered organs from movies, yet it also truly was a bio-engineered organ.

Lann thought aimlessly.

As his gaze shifted, Mentos adjusted the model synchronously for Lann’s comprehensive inspection.

After fine-tuning the angle of several vascular connections on the flesh sphere, Lann finally completed the ’final draft’.

Interstellar Warrior Surgery — Installation of [Muscle Enhancement Organ].

This spherical organ will be implanted into the chest cavity, and the specific hormones it produces will greatly enhance the recipient’s muscle growth.

The muscles stimulated by these hormones are highly efficient, so much so that if placed in an ordinary person, even subconscious exertion might cause the muscles to crush bones.

Hence, the surgical process for interstellar warriors is a biochemical transformation with stringent requirements and step-by-step planning, under the holistic control of genetic seeds.

In the memories of the Son of the Emperor acquired by Lann, these biochemistry masters had created many modified organs stronger than the interstellar warriors’ organs in terms of single-organ efficiency.

Yet when these were combined, they were riddled with flaws compared to an interstellar warrior who underwent surgery strictly according to protocol.

After reviewing the data derived from the model by Mentos once more, with an operation table improved many times over, entering this data into the chaos magic power would initiate the program structured by Tishaya and other warlock scholars.

To achieve a desired organ.

Currently, Lann’s chaos magic power had increased with multiple bodily enhancements, reaching the threshold required to activate the program.

This was considered the level of magical power of an Airetusa apprentice.

Thus, within the murky nutrient solution on the crystal, a small flesh sphere began to grow continuously...
