Chapter 1092: Mike Curtisʼ drama

Mike Curtis arrived at the looming, ominous Sub-Taboo Hall, his eyes narrowing as he took in the eerie, silent building. Shadows clung to its ancient stone walls like forgotten secrets, and a faint chill seemed to seep from its foundations.

A trace of doubt flickered in his mind, even though he knew better than to indulge it. This place was not to be entered by just anyone. The Hallʼs reputation was etched in the minds of every wizard, a place where power and peril danced hand-in-hand.

”Itʼs impossible to enter… but maybe thatʼs the point”, he mused, scanning the grounds. His brow furrowed in frustration. ”It would be better if someone else came along…”His eyes swept across the courtyard with subtle urgency.

Soon, the sound of footsteps broke the tension, and the group of Wizard Students who had been following Mike arrived as well, panting slightly as they slowed their pace. As their eyes fell on Mike, a ripple of shock passed through them. Whispers filled the air like an electric current.

”Is Mike Curtis really here?” one of them murmured. ”Whatʼs he doing at the Sub-Taboo Hall?”

Then, as if a wave of realization hit them all at once, more and more students began to murmur with growing excitement. ”Heʼs here to challenge”, they thought.

It didnʼt take long for the rumor to swirl: Mike Curtis was undoubtedly here to face Vincent Carey. The rivalry between the two was the stuff of legend, whispered about in hushed tones and spoken of loudly in every corner of the wizarding academy.

Meanwhile, beyond the walls of the Hall, the whispers had already escaped. Pictures of Mike standing before the Hall had begun flooding online platforms, each image stirring a frenzy among his devoted fans.

They had been waiting, watching for any sign of his next move, and now it seemed like something monumental was about to unfold. The sight of Mike Curtis at the Sub-Taboo Hall triggered a wildfire of speculation, setting off an unstoppable chain reaction.

”Whatʼs he planning? Is this it?”

Within moments, the pictures had gone viral. Wizards from other halls—those who had previously been too far away or too indifferent—began to appear in the vicinity. They flocked toward the Hall like moths to a flame, eager not to miss what many felt would be a historic event.

As the crowd swelled, the atmosphere thickened with tension and excitement, the air buzzing with anticipation.

Mike Curtis stood motionless, his gaze still fixed on the formidable entrance of the Hall. He felt the pressure building, the weight of so many eyes on him.

The buzz of the growing crowd behind him gnawed at his focus. As more students gathered, the whispers grew louder, swelling into a murmur that was impossible to ignore.

”Theyʼre all here for a show,”he thought, a grim smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. ”Itʼs only a matter of time before everyone knows whatʼs really happening.”

As Mike stood waiting, his mind focused on the looming Sub-Taboo Hall, his ears picked up fragments of a conversation behind him. The voices were low, but the words were unmistakable.

”I heard Vincent Careyʼs hiding in his dorm room,” one student whispered, a hint of mockery in his tone. ”Probably too scared to show his face.”

Another snickered, ”Yeah, no way heʼd come out to face Mike.”

Hearing this, Mikeʼs eyes narrowed. ”The dorm room, huh?” The thought clicked in his mind, and without hesitating, he turned on his heel.

His decision was instant—if Vincent was hiding in his dorm, then that was where Mike needed to be. Without another moment of thought, he strode away from the Sub-Taboo Hall, his jaw set in determination.

Behind him, a ripple of confusion spread through the crowd. ”Whereʼs he going?” The Wizard Students glanced at one another, their curiosity piqued. Some began to follow Mike, their eyes wide with anticipation.

Soon, a large portion of the crowd trailed after him like a tide, eager to see what would happen next. For them, this was becoming more than just a rumor—it was turning into a spectacle.

The students from other halls, watching from a distance, found the entire scene too captivating to ignore. They quickly took out their magical devices, snapping photos and sharing updates on social media.

Every movement Mike made was captured, and within moments, the online platforms were flooded with live updates, each post further fueling the frenzy.

....

Meanwhile, across the academy, Carolina Slate was spending a quiet afternoon with her friends. They sat under the shade of a tree, laughing and chatting when suddenly one of her friends gasped, her eyes glued to her magical device.

”Guys, look at this!” Her voice was filled with surprise as she held up her device, showing a flurry of images. ”Mike Curtis is at the Sub-Taboo Hall, and now… wait… heʼs heading toward the dorms!”

The group fell silent, exchanging looks of astonishment, but Carolinaʼs friend wasnʼt finished. Her expression shifted as if realizing something important. She turned to Carolina, her eyes wide. ”Carolina, you need to see this. I think Mike Curtis is looking for your junior brother, Vincent.”

The weight of the words hit Carolina like a gust of cold wind. She blinked in disbelief. ”Mike Curtis is looking for Vincent?” she repeated, her tone laced with shock. The rivalry between Mike and Vincent was well-known, but the idea of Mike actively hunting him down sent a jolt through her.

She shot to her feet, her heart pounding. ”Vincent canʼt be caught up in something like this. Not now.” She knew her brother wouldnʼt stay at the academy much longer, and the last thing she wanted was a public scene before his departure.

The thought of a confrontation between Mike and Vincent, with half the academy watching, filled her with dread.

Without another word, Carolina grabbed her things and bolted from the spot. Her friends called after her, but she didnʼt stop. She rushed through the winding pathways of the academy, her feet pounding against the cobblestone streets.

She had to reach the Sub-Taboo Hall, or better yet, catch up with Mike before things escalated any further. The tension building around this feud was undeniable, and Carolina was determined to stop it before it exploded into something neither Mike nor Vincent could control.

When Carolina Slate finally arrived at the Sub-Taboo Hall, her chest heaving from the hurried sprint, she found the area abuzz with activity. Students were gathered in clusters, whispering excitedly and snapping photos. Her heart sank further when she overheard snippets of conversation.

”Mikeʼs not here anymore,” someone said. ”Heʼs headed to the dorms.”

”The dorms?” Carolinaʼs eyes widened in alarm. ”Heʼs really going to confront Vincent.” Without wasting another moment, she pulled out her communication device and immediately tried to reach her brother. The magical connection fizzled for a moment, then went silent. No response. She tried again—still nothing.

A sense of unease tightened around her as she frowned, raising an eyebrow in confusion. ”Why isnʼt Vincent answering?” As far as she knew, Vincent should still be in his room. It was unlikely for him to be out, especially knowing that Mike Curtis was on the move. ”Unless…” The thought struck her like a lightning bolt—”Could Mike already be at his door?”

The very idea made her stomach twist with frustration. This was exactly the kind of situation she wanted to avoid—an unpredictable showdown in the middle of the academy. Carolina clenched her fists, her mind racing with possibilities. If she couldnʼt reach Vincent, there was only one other person who might be able to help.

Quickly, she scrolled through her contacts and found the name she was looking for: ””Gilbert Reese””—a senior student, well-respected and calm under pressure, someone who could intervene before things spiraled out of control.

Without hesitation, she initiated the call. As the connection established, Carolinaʼs voice was breathless but urgent.

”Senior brother Gilbert, itʼs Carolina. I need your help,” she said, trying to keep the panic from creeping into her tone. ”Mike Curtis is on his way to Vincentʼs dorm—he might already be there, and I canʼt reach Vincent. Somethingʼs about to happen.”

There was a brief pause on the other end as Gilbert processed what she was saying. Then his calm voice came through, reassuring but serious. ”Alright, Carolina. Iʼll head over to the dorms immediately. Donʼt worry, Iʼll handle it.”

As soon as she heard his words, the tight knot of anxiety in her chest loosened slightly. She let out a breath she hadnʼt realized sheʼd been holding.

If anyone could diffuse the tension between Mike and Vincent before it escalated, it was Gilbert. His presence alone might be enough to prevent the situation from turning into a spectacle.

”Thank you, Senior brother Gilbert. I really appreciate it,” she said, her voice softening with relief.

”Just hang tight. Iʼll let you know what happens when I get there,” he replied, and the call ended.

For the first time since this chaotic chain of events began, Carolina felt a flicker of hope. Gilbert was on his way, and with his help, maybe—just maybe—they could avoid the drama that was threatening to unfold.
