Chapter 1969: Wrath

Sylas had never seen such a well-kempt man before. Well, not unless he counted himself. But even for him, these days, keeping up with his usual habits without them being instantly ruined in battle was near impossible.

But this man...

He gazed like a prince charming that stepped right out from the fantasy books. He had a classic sword on his hip with a guard that wrapped around the handle, and he wore a royal, pressed uniform that outlined his broad chest and shoulders well.

His hair had just a few loose strands, but their blond filaments were well tucked, sweeping up and back across the top of his head. However, at that point, everything that felt so very human about him finally stopped.

His eyes were just two sapphire orbs, reflecting like gems with every twinkle of his eye. His skin was a greyish undertone of pale, and though his teeth were as white and straight as could be, his tongue looked particularly odd.

At first, it looked pink just like any other would have. But when he voiced, there was the slightest ripple that went through it and it looked almost like porcupineʼs needles had suddenly stood at attention before they flattened down as though nothing at all had happened.

Sylas didnʼt reply to the man, but he could smell the Boar coming off of him. It took him no more than a split moment to understand that this was Wrath.

The Boar blinked, looking at Sylasʼ side profile and then he suddenly moved, his hand wrapping around Sylasʼ throat with such force his spine began to creak.

”Listen, listen. We just met each other, right? Thereʼs no actual real need for us to be enemies? So why canʼt you answer? Is that so hard for you? I donʼt want to kill you if I donʼt have to, wouldnʼt that be a shame? Such a shame.”

The sapphires that made up Wrathʼs eyes sparkled with hints of crimson as a Madness seethed over him.

[-(???)]

[Level: ???]

[Physical: ???]

[Mental: ???]

[Will: ???]

BANG.

Wrath suddenly pulled Sylasʼ head toward himself, slamming their foreheads together.

”Now why would you try and read my stats like that? You really donʼt listen, do you?”

Wrath bared his teeth, a bloody aura you could practically taste wafting from him. The number of people he had probably killed out of fury alone was simply uncountable.

Sylasʼ skull cracked, blood flowing down and piercing into his eyes as though shards of glass. Yet, he met Wrathʼs gaze, unbothered.

”Another pathetic Madness Disciple.” He said coldly.

Honestly, Wrath was stunned when he heard this. He was quite used to his endless rage being intimidating. In fact, the angrier he got, the stronger he got, and the more bloodthirsty the air around him would become.

BANG.

Wrath was sent flying.

[-(???)]

[Level: 201]

[Physical: ???]

[Mental: ???]

[Will: ???]

Sylas wiped blood from his nose as Wrath rolled back up to his feet.

ʼB-tier...ʼ Sylasʼ gaze flickered, not having expected this outcome. The problem was that Wrath had been sent flying far too easily for him to possibly be a B-tier. Sylas would have sooner believed he was a Level 151 rather than a Level 201. ʼHe is likely being restrained by something.ʼ

Sylasʼ first thought was that it was the formation. Right now, only C-tier and below should be able to enter. Yamero hadnʼt faltered just yet, and Sylas had only wasted about a day or so on crafting the Rune Armors he had.

He still had two more days before Yamero reached his limits, so it made sense that maybe Wrath had lowered his abilities so that the formation wouldnʼt bother him.

But Sylas still dismissed the thought soon after. There was something odd about Wrath, almost like his aura was as wildly fluctuating as his emotions.

Something else Sylas couldnʼt quite see through was happening here.

And there was something else he was considering...

ʼWhy are both True Madness Disciples in the Mortal Realm?ʼ

Something was definitely wrong.

It wasnʼt a surprise to Sylas to meet the Sloth and Gluttony. After all, neither were official disciples. They still had to duke it out with other disciples to claim the helm.

Meaning, there were many other Sloths and Gluttonies out there. Well, maybe not ”many”, but there were certainly

more.

However, the Rat and the Boar were both official disciples. They had already claimed their mantle. There were no other disciples of Greed or Wrath out there.

Sylas only formed the Greed Seed because the Rat allowed it, while he had never been able to even remotely form a Wrath Seed-not that he had wanted to.

If it was just the Rat here in the Mortal Realm, Sylas could accept it. But the Boar too?

It was far too coincidental, and pathetic.

The Madness Disciples had access to a treasure that Sylas was sure would be valuable even on the God Plane. Why would two True Madness Disciples still be stuck in the Mortal Realm?

ʼSomething is keeping them here.ʼ

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed.

Why would Wrath risk appearing here when he knew that Madness Disciples were kill-on-sight?

ʼSomeone made him come. Someone is controlling him. Someone is controlling the Rat too.ʼ

Sylas looked into the skies, his eyes narrowing when he watched the movements of the shadow fighting the 713th

Ape Emperor. It was impossible. The Rat was trapped at the bottom of Earthʼs ocean.

Sylasʼ gaze landed on Wrath who was still looking at the blood in his palm.

On a ship shared by the Sona and Buri, a pair of familiar youths were scratching the back of their heads.

”Well, this might be a bit troublesome. Heʼs not going to listen to orders at all now, is he.”

”... Definitely not.”

Wrathʼs head slowly looked up. It almost looked like he was pulling against chains to rip his eyesight away from his

own blood.

”Iʼm going to kill you.”

Sylas didnʼt respond. Instead, his hand stretched out and caught an orb Yamero dropped.

Chi.

He crushed it.
