Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1704 Homerun

”You still have time to change your mind. Youʼre walking right into your death,” Fanelei said slowly.

Sylas didnʼt even look back at her as he entered the teleportation channel. The depths of silence in this hidden void were as deep as he remembered.

Not long ago, he had reached this city and nearly gotten lost here. If he hadnʼt managed to find a way to walk through the void, he would have died down there-and unless someone who had comprehended the void could come and find him, he would have certainly died down there.

That was all to say that such a dangerous event in Sylasʼ life had become nothing more than a footnote. He didnʼt even consider the possibility that he would lose his life there.

But then, not long after that, he was faced with his own mortality, his very own weakness. Looking into the maw of the universeʼs ceiling, he should have felt weak, spineless, as broken as he had that day in the volcano.

Yet he hadnʼt.

Wanting him to fold because of an E-tier with an ego... wasnʼt Fanelei thinking too much?

If he could make her yield, what made her think he couldnʼt do this?

What was speaking now was Faneleiʼs own insecurities and worries. Sylas was her only path to reaching the level she wanted, but right now he was about to go and throw his life away.

She wasnʼt anxious for him. She was anxious about her own investments falling to nothing.

If Sylas died... she would have nothing.

Yet, Sylas didnʼt seem to care at all about the danger he was putting his own life in. Instead, he walked into the teleportation ring with a calm look on his face, turning back to Fanelei with the very same look he always wore.

Cold indifference.

Fanelei realized that there wasnʼt going to be anything she could do to change Sylasʼ trajectory. In the end, she could only activate the teleportation channels and watch Sylas vanish right before her eyes.

The moment he was gone, she felt an emptiness.

Right about now, Sylas was arriving in a Horizon she couldnʼt easily enter without being the subject of heavy scrutiny on the lightest side, and wild danger on the heaviest. Even she couldnʼt guarantee her own life by doing this.

But Sylas was going there as someone who wasnʼt only a Weaver Guild disciple, but also a Madness Disciple. He had completely lost his mind.

Of course, a Weaver Disciple entering Seeing Eye territory wouldnʼt be a kill-on-sight matter. There was plenty of flow between the two massive territories. The reason Fanelei couldnʼt do the same was because she had a vastly separate identity as an A-tier. Her movements were far more sensitive.

Even so... the moment the first bad actor sensed the Runeweaver Eyes, Sylas would be in for a world of trouble.

It was said one shouldnʼt travel through the wider universe unless one was at least a competent C-tier. But Sylas was an F-tier who hadnʼt even seen the true pinnacle of the tier yet.

As many shocking feats as she had seen him accomplish... she just couldnʼt fathom how he would do this one. Evergold Horizon.

The location was a brothel if it could even be called that. Golden gauze lined ”private” areas and the stage ahead, silhouettes of women who could only be described as goddesses dancing and smoothly gliding from one seductive pose to the next.

One would be hard-pressed to use such a crude term for such an establishment, though. Simply put, the women were too gorgeous.

Before the Summoning, even one of these women would receive the grace of Emperors and Presidents alike, adored by the masses and drooled over by the public.

Granted, the men here were still very much doing the same. But to many of them, such beauties were a dime a dozen. Just entry into this place required the fortune of a truly prodigal son.

At that very moment, the prodigal son of prodigal sons lounged lazily on a chair, three women in garments that barely concealed much of anything dancing for him in a private-yet not so private-room.

Maybe by now he should have been bored by such a sight, but he couldnʼt for the life of him drum up the distaste for it. He didnʼt care how many times he saw the sight, he desired to see more of it.

But to call Salivar Entrim a normal prodigal son was to do him a disservice. Sure, he wasted a great deal of money. But in return...

The Seeing Eye Guild was receiving the genius of a generation.

No-a genius of three generations.

Salivar Entrim had skin that was faintly painted in a tea green, lines of golden etchings and tattoos covering his body in complex patterns. The most prominent of them formed two lines down the middle of his forehead.

The Entrim Clan and race were no less powerful than the Analei and any one of the other six Clans that made up the Weaver Guild. However... it had been a very long time since they had birthed a talent like Salivar.

It could be said that they mirrored the Analei in a lot of ways. The difference was that rather than reincarnating into a new life, they sprouted new Wills as they grew. The function of this even felt somewhat similar to the Spirit Beasts, who were born with several Beast Spirits within themselves.

However, functionally, to many Entrim, these Wills werenʼt the representation of a new path, but instead the representation of a new personality-almost as though multiple people were sharing the same body.

And this was precisely why it had been so long since the Entrim had birthed a real talent...

Sure, they mirrored the Analei, but they seemed to have all the problems without any of the advantages. If anything, their path seemed to be a huge detriment to them, other than the fact their Will stats were completely off the charts.

But every so often... they would hit one homerun.
