Chapter 1668 Three Minutes [Bonus]

[Bonus chapter thanks to Ricky_D_Reader. Iʼll be contact Oda to inform him that youʼre infringing on his copyright. Weʼll see if you can afford to torture me after that] Sylas squinted as the sun threatened to blind him. He looked up a set of polished steps. They looked as simple as could be, greyed with a brushed finish. But Sylas could tell that they were probably formed of the most expensive ores he had ever laid eyes on... for a set of stairs.

Sylas had built several fast-flying vessels until now, and yet not a single one of them used a material like this on even their strongest sections, let alone on what was ultimately decor.

It was no wonder his stomp did nothing at all.

Inwardly, Sylas made a mental note to spend more time studying materials. He didnʼt have a desire to become a blacksmith or something of the sort, but he felt that having a stronger understanding of materials might help him to comprehend the worlds around him faster.

Something about him seemed to have changed. He knew he was spending too much time on the macro and not enough time on the micro.

He wanted to be a powerful Rune Master because a powerful Rune Master could do anything an alchemist, a blacksmith, a formation master, a mechanist, or anything else of the sort could do.

But if you got lost in the big picture too much, you missed the forest for the trees-a mistake he had already made.

He had forgotten something quite significant in his pursuit of perfection.

Almost 30% of the universe was made up of Dark Matter.

What did that mean? He had no idea. All he knew was that he didnʼt have an answer for it, nor a way to account for it. And that was just Dark Matter.

What about Dark Energy? In terms of energy percentages, it was almost 80%.

Such an unfathomable amount of the universe was made of something he didnʼt even understand, and he hadnʼt seen it mentioned or described anywhere else despite how much information he had consumed in recent days.

This was unacceptable.

Sylasʼ head turned toward a guard standing at attention at the end of the staircase. In fact, there were two of them.

”Where do I go for the entrance exam?” Sylas asked one of them.

By this point, both guards were already looking at Sylas. There was a hint of reverence on their faces. No one who came out of there was normal.

That was the section reserved for extreme teleportation. Usually only those from the seven Clans could use it with any sort of regularity. And those that werenʼt part of those Clans were special in their own right.

It wasnʼt long before Sylas was standing in front of a building larger than any he had ever seen. If they tried to build something like this on Earth, the span of the base would either have to take up an entire province of land, or it would topple over the second the winds hit anything above 10 kilometers an hour.

This building, though, was not only so tall its top floors were amongst the stars, but it was practically as thin as a needle compared to its height.

Most interesting of all, its four corners seemed formed of a bone-like, whitewashed material that was carved from a single piece all the way up to its peak. Other than the divisions for its floors, everything else was wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling glass.

Though... this glass seemed quite peculiar.

Some of it reflected the sunʼs light in a rainbow of colors; others were completely black, making it impossible to see what was on the other side, and some were just like normal windows.

But Sylas could tell... even a full-powered attack from him wouldnʼt be able to scratch these windows.

He walked inside and spoke with the receptionist and received his second weird look of the last 24 hours. In fact, this time, without the same context as previously, it was layered with hints of disdain and displeasure.

However, after Sylas showed his citizenʼs badge, the receptionist seemed to have no choice but to act. He flicked a few fingers at a transparent, floating screen of Runes and connected a call. The image of someone popped up, but despite the fact Sylas was sure it was a person, and the screen was entirely transparent, he couldnʼt see who it was at all.

At the same time, the receptionist was speaking quite openly, but Sylas couldnʼt hear what any of them were saying. He could only read their expressions as the receptionistʼs sneer deepened.

He closed down the digital call and looked at Sylas.

”You are late. The exam is beginning in three minutes, and the grace period is already over. The next one wonʼt be for another month, so you will have to wait until then.”

Sylas didnʼt answer immediately.

Though this person was a receptionist, they radiated the aura of a C-tier. A C-tier that could probably slaughter any one of the C-tiers of the 001 Sanctum at this point without much difficulty at all. This wasnʼt exactly the sort of place he could use force or logic, but losing a month was also unacceptable.

Granted, this was his fault this time. Though he was technically on time, if they had rules then they had rules.

Just as Sylas was about to try something else, there was a bit of a commotion at the doorway.

”Get the fuck out of my way.”

BANG.

An unsuspecting person was sent sprawling out as a disheveled young girl blasted her way through. She was breathing heavily, and she looked as though she hadnʼt slept in years. The fact her clothes were so tattered didnʼt help either.

Sylas recognized the Will instantly. Little girl or not didnʼt make much of a difference to him at all.

She stomped up to the receptionistʼs desk and stopped when she saw Sylas. A violence swelled in her eyes, the surging aura of the most powerful F-tier Sylas had ever come across buffeting against his face like hurricane-force winds.
