Chapter 1387: Property

It was neither Cassarae, nor the Thorn Matriarch or Grand Thorns, that spoke first. Instead, it was a member unknown to Cassarae who unfurled a scroll and began to read off the atrocities that Cassarae had committed.

Cassarae just let her read, the list of crimes getting longer, and longer, and even longer than that, until she topped it off with what felt like nothing more than insult to injury.

”… These crimes were levied and sanctioned approximately one month, one week, three days, seventeen hours, thirty-six minutes, and… thirteen seconds ago. Adjusting based on the time itʼs taken Thorn Cassarae Grimblade to return as she should, there is an additional sanction for every day for the first week, every hour for the first month beyond this, and every minute beyond this first month. This multiplies the current sanctions to—.”

”Are you done yet?” Cassarae asked, seemingly having finally grown impatient.

The woman seemed startled by the words, not expecting Cassarae to interrupt even at this point.

”Youʼre wasting everyoneʼs time. Iʼm not sure who put you up to it, or if you just wanted to flex your intricate knowledge of the rule book, but you can buzz off now. Youʼve already done the important part.”

The woman didnʼt even know what to say, while Wei, who in the crowd of floating roses felt her face go completely pale.

Cassarae didnʼt seem to care for the womanʼs response either. She had already looked up.

”Since even this teacherʼs pet is so familiar with the rule book, Iʼm sure that you three are familiar with it as well, familiar enough to know that Iʼm not a disciple under your branch, Iʼm the Head of the Milky Way Galaxy Branch, I am a Matriarch.

”When Iʼm given a mission, itʼs an act of collaboration, not an order. If I deem it fit to act on my own and to do things in the best interest of my branch, then I will do so.

”Of course, youʼre more powerful than me, and you take precedent in the rule of order because you are a Sector Branch while Iʼm only a Galaxy Branch.

”But unfortunately for you, you were too busy trying to do things covertly and chose to hand down orders unofficially through a Thorn of your branch rather than through official passage.”

Cassarae held up a finger when it seemed that Matriarch Viridorn was about to speak.

”Sorry, Iʼm not quite finished yet. You see, my husband has a bit of a habit of dressing down people step by step, and letting them fall into their own traps. I thought my plan was decent enough to deal with all of this, but I have to admit that his is better.

”Itʼs just that I donʼt have the patience to do a back and forth with you first and wait for you to trip over your own words. I have things to do and time is very limited right now. So tell you what, letʼs do things like this.”

Cassarae raised her hand and an orb appeared.

[System-Wide Message]

[The Conquest Title System has been Unlocked. As the first Conquest Title holder of the Sector, has been granted a System Reward] [The Milky Way Sector will now be undergoing a change and upgrade]

[Time: 2 years, 11 months, 29 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds]

”I bet youʼre wondering which System Reward my husband received. I was quite shocked when I saw what it was too. Iʼm not a fan of his cocky attitude. It makes my brain shut off and my panties wet, and the worst part is Iʼm pretty sure it happens to all the bitches that want to steal my man too.

”But what I have to admit is that he kind of deserves to be. Sometimes.” Cassarae looked up.

”Since weʼre flexing our understanding of the rule book, do you know what differentiates a Sector Branch and a Galaxy Branch? After all, weʼre all technically in a galaxy, arenʼt we? So what puts you above me? Is it your strength? The specific galaxy, maybe?

”Well, since you wasted my time, making me listen to that garbage spiel, I will happily waste yours by telling you what you already know.

”The primary branch of a Sector is decided by two factors: the Grade of the City Stele and the Grade of the Galaxy.

”You all might not know the Milky Wayʼs Grade right now; thatʼs because itʼs still in the middle of being upgraded. Thatʼs also why itʼs so heavily protected now and canʼt be easily touched.

”But in about…” Cassarae looked down at her wrist even though there was no watch there. ”… Oh, another six months or so, it will be a Grade 10 Silver Galaxy.”

The eyes of the Thorn Matriarch and the Grand Thorns sharpened when they heard this.

That was impossible. The strongest Galaxy in the Milky Way Sector was just Grade 8 Silver.

What they didnʼt know was that every time Earth upgraded, it forcefully took the Milky Way Galaxy along with it.

When Sylas first succeeded in the Summoning, Earth was granted a restoration back to Grade 4 Silver, and by virtue of that, the Milky Way Galaxy was granted a path to Grade 5.

But then, soon after that, Sylas managed to unleash the ire of the systemʼs Eye, and the result was a boost right up to Grade 10 Silver they were still in the middle of completing.

This alone should have been enough, but Sylas was an absolute madman. Cassarae didnʼt know why he wanted to do this, to expose something like this. It felt like it would only come with far more trouble than they could handle… But she trusted him with her life. So today, and into the future, she would be a mad woman right along with him.

She smiled brightly, her blue eyes shining with a fierce light as her black hand danced in the wind.

The orb of light in her hand only seemed to grow heavier as, one by one, they analyzed it.
