Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1339: One More

Sylas stood there, Old Brama’s smoking laser gun by the side of his head as a newcomer made his way out.

He was shorter than the man, but only barely. He carried the same look, the same feel, that pale skin flickering beneath the sunlight as though a glossy, greyed mirror.

Not far behind him, though, another appeared. Unlike the first two, this one wore a scowl on his face as though he was looking for someone.

”I can smell the scorpion on you. Where is she?”

Sylas ignored him. Turning around, he stepped into the skies, walking across it as though it were flat land until he landed on a familiar platform.

...

”It’s that son of a bitch,” Gwenu growled from within the ground and would have leapt out of Khan’s control if he wasn’t ready.

”Can you relax, please? That’s the most powerful E-tier I’ve ever sensed in my life. You think going over there in your state is going to end well?”

”Let me at him, he won’t last a move.”

”Yeah? Is that why you ran away with your tail between your legs?”

”If that’s what happened, why do you think he looks so pissed? Fuck you!”

The banter of the two was completely drowned out by the sound of the crowd.

”Hush, focus. Right now we’re here to support Sylas. You need to show some of the decorum of a senior sister at some point.”

Gwenu scoffed, and then thought of something.

”Hey, was he telling the truth when he said he was a Spark Rune Master? Or was he just trying to piss them off?”

Khan blinked, then he thought back to when Sylas formed his Scorpion Warlord Armor in front of him. He was absolutely sure... that had been a Spark Mastery Armor, he just didn’t know the exact percentage.

Seeing Khan fall to silence, Gwenu’s expression also became more serious.

Just who was this new junior brother of theirs?

...

Sylas landed on the platform, his gaze calm.

Urolius’ wings flapped and he gently landed a moment afterward. He had also not said a word, but the fury of his E-tier senior due to Sylas ignoring him was hard to ignore.

”Don’t worry, Magnus. I’ll wipe the smugness from his face.” Urolius’ handsome features twisted in a menacing grin.

”Since your F-tier here has so graciously decided to place their head into the noose, then we won’t be impolite,” the man said slowly. ”We, the Bat Lineage, formerly of Beast Warlord Sanctum 065, would like to formally sow for power.”

The Thryskai man raised a hand into the air and an emblem bloomed into the skies. Sylas had only seen one before, but it didn’t take someone as intelligent as he was to connect the dots. This was a badge, the symbol of the person he assumed to be the 713th Bat Warlord—if this Sanctum was on the 713th generation as well, that is.

With this badge here, it meant that things were official.

Which also meant that he didn’t have to waste time on this fanfare any longer.

—

[Name: Urolius Berthon][Level: 50]

[Physical: 2272][Mental: 3288][Will: 3111]

—

Urolius felt the invasion on his psyche immediately. He blinked, the foreign feeling shaking him for a moment.

Powerful, indeed. If not for Dominus Paragon, Sylas wouldn’t have stats anywhere near this level. This Urolius would be three times as powerful as him practically across the board. No, even more times than that, for sure.

But unfortunately...

BANG!

Urolius doubled over, his body bending forward out of his control. Sylas’ fist drove into his gut, sparking with lightning and wild fumes of darkness.

With a cough, a projectile of blood came from the Thryskai’s lips, and his body, which should have otherwise been sent flying, was somehow nailed in place as though by law or demand.

BANG!

Sylas’ elbow cut down from a lofty position, smashing into the back of Urolius’ head, his face careening into the hard ground.

”Hey, hey! He used the same trick he did against me! He’s so shameless, I love it!” Gwenu screamed and cheered, practically louder than anyone else.

Sylas bent down, grabbing a handful of Urolius’ hair. Judging by this man’s stats, he should probably be stronger. Unfortunately for him, Sylas was bolstered not just by his casual use of Runes, but also an array of Skills that came from a pair of Legendary Gene Classes, all powered by Intelligence that was more than double that of Urolius’ own.

His body might not be capable of accepting the perfect array of stats his Gene Classes should give him, but that didn’t stop their accessory abilities from being off the charts.

”Is this why you were so arrogant? You can’t last a single exchange?”

The man’s voice was still echoing across the air when Sylas spoke, the bloodied nose of his F-tier spilling all over the arena.

Even the members of the 073rd Sanctum didn’t know what they were seeing. That wasn’t just anyone—that was a Thryskai. And this Sylas... he was even more powerful than the last time they had seen him. But had it even been much more than a week?

It was then they seemed to recall something...

Sylas had been an in-name disciple not long ago. Many thought that Gralith must have been secretly pouring resources into him for a long time, but what if it was the case that Gralith had really not been lying? What if Gralith had been telling the truth and had followed the Sanctum’s rules without deviating?

Then how much stronger would Sylas become with their support?

Urolius hacked, trying to regain his bearings. But then Sylas actually let him go.

”I’ll give you one more chance. Stand up.”

Sylas flickered and vanished, appearing over 20 meters away from Urolius as though to show him that he really was giving him another chance.

The Bat Lineage Warlord Badge was still awkwardly hanging in the air when everything settled in for Urolius.

His fury billowed forth.
