Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1328: The Once Youngest [2800 GT Bonus]

Hair as white and bright as the first rays of sun upon opening one’s eyes in the morning hung loosely from her head, covering her eyes. Her arms, though they looked frail, were hidden with tightly wound muscles layered beneath her delicate violet skin.

Those sharp ears poked out from her disarrayed hair, a seething breath coming from her lips as though her internal organs were overheating worse than the ship she had just crashed.

Shaking, she pulled herself the rest of the way out of the wreckage, not even looking at the sheer number of people staring her way.

She stumbled, falling to a knee, but she managed to pull herself up, waving away someone who tried to help her so hard they were sent flying.

Not bothering to apologize, she spat to the side, a glob of spit mixed with blood and flesh splattering out.

Her bare feet ground against the coarse, worn ground, her clothes tattered into rags that hardly covered anything at all. If not for the Runes dancing around her, protecting her decency, she might as well have been stalking forward, head lowered, completely naked.

She swayed and finally made it to the Scorpion Lineage teleportation channels.

The once-youngest disciple of Gralith Duskthorn had returned.

This time, the commotion she had caused in the outside world was several times worse than what she had caused at the Serpent Sanctum.

The council was still in the middle of their meeting when they received the report. They had finally begun to negotiate exactly what sort of compensation Sylas would receive when everything came to a grinding halt.

Just the same as always, Gralith listened to the reports with a cold, unreadable indifference.

”Well, this is just great, now isn’t it?” Aranya said slowly.

”At some point, you need to take some responsibility for this too, Aranya,” the Lion Lineage Warlord said, earning him that very same look and smile.

The 713th Lion Warlord didn’t follow up on this, but it was clear enough from the fact that no one else seemed to harp on Gwenu as part of this equation as much as she did that there was something else going on here.

And the truth? Gwenu was actually Aranya’s daughter. But back then, Aranya had chosen Morvok as her last disciple instead of her, causing Gwenu to choose the Scorpion Lineage instead of the Lineage her Race of people had always joined.

Ultimately, it seemed Aranya was correct. After all, Morvok was ranked first while her daughter was ranked only second. But if one accounted for the fact that the Serpent Lineage Armor was stronger than the Scorpion Lineage’s Armor... then it wasn’t nearly so clear.

That equation only became worse since Gwenu was actually ranked well above Morvok on the E-tier Rune Master rankings. And back when they were in the F-tier, Gwenu had been top 5 on those rankings, while Morvok had only been top 20.

No one knew why Aranya would choose an outsider over her own daughter, but what was clear enough was the fact that Gwenu had not taken to this kindly—and now it was causing larger problems.

”What the fuck?” Khan quickly caught Gwenu before she collapsed. She seemed already half-asleep. ”Little girl, what the hell is wrong with you? You can’t just collapse in a grown man’s arms like this.”

”What are you going to do? Rape me?” Gwenu sneered, but it almost looked adorable with her eyes closed like that. Well, as adorable as you could look when you were covered in blood.

”What the hell did you go and do this time? I swear you two are going to be the end of me. I wonder if this is how big bro felt about me all this time?”

”Two?” Gwenu asked groggily.

”You have a junior brother now. Didn’t I tell you about this already?”

”Yeah... but he hadn’t passed his Rites yet... why would I waste mental space on him...”

Khan was speechless. ”Do you think Master is just like all the other Lineage Heads, taking disciples left and right? If he cared to take another, he’d have to be at least as monstrous as you.”

Gwenu scoffed. ”No one is...”

Her voice trailed off, and she snored a little.

”Hey, hey. Wake up.”

Gwenu groaned awake.

”I learned my lesson from last time. You’re not allowed to fall asleep until I know what the hell is going on.”

The last time Gwenu did something like this, it was after her rampage on the Serpent Sanctum. Because of that, he got caught with his pants down while going to get her help and treatment and almost got ambushed by a ton of D-tier Serpent Lineage goons out for revenge.

Luckily, he was able to hold his own and find a path to escape, but he didn’t want a replay of that. He wanted to know exactly which enemies this troublemaker had made for him this time.

”Come on, tell me what happened in a short few sentences. You held on this long, you can hold on a little longer.”

Gwenu groaned again.

”Thryskai... asshole... beat up... lost...”

The mumbling was hard to decipher and took several tries. By the time Khan finally understood what had happened and Gwenu had officially passed out, he felt like someone had lit his ass on fire.

Holy shit, this little girl was really going to be the end of them all.

The Sector was under a huge amount of strain. This wasn’t just because the Leava Clan lost their Dominus Paragon Contested Title. All things considered, that was just a bit of firewood to the flaming embers.

The real source of all the turmoil was the vanquishing of a Demi-God Thryskai Clan. That had suddenly opened up a lane for one of their Seven Mortal Clans to rise up.

The presence of their Mortal Clan Thryskai wasn’t very great in this Sector, and they were just a weak branch at best. However, if they wanted a great chance at becoming the new Demi-God Clan replacement, it meant they needed to take hold of all the resources they had available to them.

That meant Sectors where their presence was once weaker had suddenly become targets for expansion.

But they couldn’t just start. They had to lay the groundwork first, weakening the resolve of the others to fight back by showing them the sheer gap between them.

Unfortunately, Gwenu didn’t seem to be much of a fan of taking things lying down and had killed a Mortal Thryskai in a fit of rage.
